iPhone helps Apple ring up profit

iPhone helps Apple ring up profit
Last Updated: Wednesday, 23 January 2008, 02:24 GMT

Apple saw record profits, up 57%, in the three months to the end of December, lifted by demand for its Mac computers and iPhones.

Sales of its iPhone, released in June last year, reached 2.3 million and lifted its earnings to $1.58bn (Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£806m), up from $1bn a year ago.

But the firm forecast earnings for the next three months that were less than the market expected.

The news will fan fears over the extent of a US consumer slowdown.

Apple shares shed 3.5% at $155.64 and are expected to fall further when trading opens in New York on Wednesday.

What EXACTLY is the difference between Verizon and AT&T???

I'm currently a verizon customer, but thinking about switching to at&t. Please tell me in layman's terms what exactly is the difference between the two. I know one is gsm and the other is cdma, but what makes one better than the other? Thanks for the lesson.

Well Done AT&T

According to RCRNews At&t had record breaking net adds, and 62% increase in profits. WOW 😲

I Work for the competitor but I love a competitive market. It works out better for the consumer.

And it keeps people from getting laid off 😁

Mobile TV

Sunday i purchased an AT&T Tilt with a $39.99 PDA plan/Text messaging plan. I noticed on the Tilt that there an Application called MobiTV. I clicked on this and i was watching streaming ESPN. (on another note the basketball game feed was about 2 minutes behind the actually telecast on cable tv.) What i'm wondering is if this service is included in my Data plan. I think there is premium content which includes HBO as well, not really sure. Is what i'm talking about even considered Mobile Tv, i really dont know. I just dont want to get charged a ton for this service if its not included. Thanks for your help.

A Positive Experience...

So after discussing a recent experience with Blumpelstiltskin, I decided I needed to tell people about the previous experience leading to our discussion...

So let it be known that I upgrade every 4-6 months. I only upgrade direct every 12-18 months. So I am a bit early for my upgrade. Called to get the price on a Shine. Rep bent over backwards to give me a price that was WELL below what was being offered on the website. Documented and verified that it is guaranteed I will get the Shine for the low low price of $175, when I am not even eligible for an upgrade! Plus, he fixed a system error that wiped out my rollover mins. Totally nice guy too!!!!

New Option on AT&T's Website

I was online looking at phones when I saw a new feature on the phone screen. It gives the option to write a review for the phone. Fun!

Attn sales reps!!!! A moment....

So I decided to go to an AT&T COR store in my area to have a look at the LG Shine in person. It was not busy at all except for me and 1 other customer. While looking at the shine, I overheard the other salesperson being a total tard & not doing their job very well. Providing FALSE tech specs right and left and just being a total tard. Here is a rough breakdown...

Lady: I just need a basic phone that I can hear clearly on...

Salesdolt: Well you might consider the Blackberry Pearl! It can do (insert VASTLY incorrect tech spec here, such as 4mp camera and WiFi). I think you would really like this!

Lady: Noooo... I donΓƒΒ’Γ’β€šΒ¬β„’t think you are listening. I just need to make calls.

Salesdolt: Maybe you would like the LG Shine. It has a 3m...

SE phones and Macs.

How do SE phones work with Macs? I'm going to be getting a new Mac, but before I go ahead and buy it, I'd like to hear from other people who own SE phones... I'd connect it to do phone software updates, and of course, side loading music to it.
Thanks in advance!

4Q results

In the fourth quarter, AT&T achieved:

Record Wireless Subscriber Gains. AT&T's net gain of 2.7 million wireless subscribers was the highest quarterly subscriber increase ever for any U.S. wireless provider, up 13.5 percent from 2.4 million net adds in the year-earlier fourth quarter. This year-over year improvement in quarterly net adds was almost entirely driven by stronger growth in retail postpaid net adds, which totaled 1.2 million, up 36.8 percent versus results in the year-earlier quarter. In addition, AT&T's acquisition of Dobson Communications, which was completed on Nov. 15, 2007, added 1.7 million subscribers, bringing AT&T's wireless subscriber base at year end to 70.1 million.

Can I port back to at&t???

Here is what has happened in the last 30 days:

Ported my number from Cellular One to at&t on 12/30/07.

Ported my number from at&t to Verizon on 1/10/08 (bad move in hindsight)

Will their be any issues porting back to at&t so soon after leaving?

AT&T Exchange Policy Questions

I work for a dealer that recently migrated from Cellular One to AT&T. We ran into a couple issues yesterday and I am wondering if someone can help me.

A customer started AT&T service on January 1st. They got an LG CE110. They came back a week later and exchanged it for a Nokia 6555. Yesterday, they called because they said the phone was not working and they wanted to exchange it.

Here are my questions: If AT&T only allows one exchange per activation during the 30 day period, should we exchange the phone?

Because the phone is having technical issues, is that an exception to the one exchange policy? If so, they should only be able to exchange for the exact same model, right?

Next issue, I had a couple activate service on January 1...

TERMINATION PRO-RATE IS BULLS@#T

Just called att today, there termination fee(pro-rated) hasn't been instated yet. But they've been advertising it since OCTOBER! Does anybody have any idea when and if this will actually be an option? P.S. I have 6mths left, I would cost me only like $50 to terminate if pro-rated.

Is ATT Going To Have Anything Like....

Flexpay by T-mobile? Its a good idea. Pay full price for your phone, if you dont pay every month, you dont get service, but your not breaking a contract.

Does ATT have any other prepaid "pick your plan" NOT listed on the website?

1900MHZ in Colorado

So when I buy a new phone, I ALWAYS make sure it has the 850 band. Finally a phone has caught my eye that doesnt have the 850 band. I want to make sure I will not be shooting myself in the foot when I get this phone. The coverage maps on gsmworld.com for my area dont seem to indicate much of a difference between the coverage for both bands. Little help?
