AIM on Nokia

Hi all. I have a Nokia 6230 with AIM software built in. It was working fine for a while but then stopped.

Now it sits on the "Signing on to AIM .. .. .. .." screen for a while and eventually gives me the message: "Not connected to server."

Yet it acts like I'm signed on. If I log into the same SN on my computer it sends me a message that I'm logged in at another location and my phone beeps as if it's getting a message, but of course I can't access it.

Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks.

Raising The Bar

I have found The Fewest Dropped Calls statement to be true (I had all other major carriers) But when will Cingular choose a stronger slogan? The raising the bar stuff getting kind of old.

Favorite Redundant Phonescoop Questions

I thought I would start a list....feel free to add as you see fit. If people would just do a little research....

1) Why doesn't Cingular have unlimited text messages?

2) How do I unlock my (manufacturer) phone?

3) Upgrade fees are BS. Why do I have to pay one?

4) Why does Wal-Mart/BB/RS/onine sell their phones cheaper than agent and COR locations?

5) When will the ZX-20/V3i/W810 come out?

6) What do I need to do to get hired by Cingular?

That is it so far. Your pontification is welcome.

Another Cingy customer wondering why NO NEW PHONES!!!

Love this forum.Get the real story as to whats going on.My contract is up and I am waiting and waiting..Is Cingular actually going to release a phone that people want to buy?
Are they trying to get people to leave? Seems to me that particular business model might need some rethinking. Not working to well for Ford and GM anyway.
The new Samsung?...the ugliest thing I've ever seen. The new SE phones are MIA as for Nokia's who knows? What do we get? a bunch of recycled Motos? That razr is what 10 years old now. Hey how about re-releasing those Startacs..those were hot. I mean c'mon. Anyone notice Verizon has new stuff practically every week? Cingular I'm losing my patience, and I can't be the only one.

HSPDA on 850 MHz in Australia

We are getting a new 850 MHz UMTS network in Australia next year. Cingular seems about the only guys in the world with the same platform (and maybe Rogers in Canada). We are being told that the HSDPA is noticably better/faster than EDGE. Is this true?? What are the handsets like?? I'm a bit worried that there wont be much of a range to choose from. Why don't Nokia make any phones for this?

Nokia Slacking

Is it just me, but are they really slacking right now?

I mean we have the 6030, nice phone, minus the crappy battery life. Look at the 3120 before it, pretty much the same phone, only this one gets half the talk time.

We have the 6061, but no one wants that, with no screen on the outside. And I've heard this was recently discontinued?

We have the 6102i, which is a really great value. Best phone available in that price range with that feature set. That's the only thing still giving Nokia ground to stand on in Nokia's market.

The 6126, which I was kinda excited for, has recently been postponed/discontinued or whatever. RELEASE IT ALREADY!

And I WAS excited for the N80, until I saw the battery life. 3 hours talk time, for a devic...

RadioShack

I just got back from the RadioShack Golden Quarter event. Any of you have anything say about your feelings about Cingular's relationship with RadioShack since you went to the event? Just wondering.

CDMA equipment sales lag while GSM gets boost

Since most countries in South America are switching from CDMA to GSM due to international roaming capabilities... It's taking a toll on CDMA sales. The funny thing is that most of these countries (Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil) had their EV-DO up and running and almost complete. Now, they are deploying GSM on the 850MHz band and eventually will switch everyone to GSM. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Dog Ate Phone - Need some help!

Well, I guess the dog didn't technially "eat" my MPX220, however his teeth punctured my ear piece and my battery causing it to send acid and smoke everywhere. 24 hours later, the stinch is gone, but unfortunately, the phone is only useable as a paper weight.

I need some suggestions on a new phone. I loved the smart phone so I could sync Outlook, but sometimes my Motorola MPX220 would wig out and need to be rebooted. I wasn't crazy about that. Any helpers out there? A few things about me:

I'm not a text messager
I don't care if my phone plays MP3s or not

Two things I would like:
1) Bluetooth enabled voice dialing
2) Sync with computer for Contacts & Calendar

Sending operatior settings

Does anyone know where I can get the operator settings (MMS and Internet) for a motorola phone sent to my phone? Similar to how you can do this with a Sony Ericsson or nokia phone by going to the respective web sites. I tried going to motorola.com and can find nothing

7 p.m. Nights (new charge)

If customers already had the 7 p.m. feature, should they now be charged the $8.99 instead of $7.00? I've had the feature for over a year, and all of a sudden, i'm getting charged $8.99.

850 v. 1900

Question about Cingular frequencies

I was wondering where does Cingular rely on 850, rather than 1900 Mhz? I am considering picking up a phone that does not support 850 (900 instead) and I was just curious what, if any, downsides there would be.

Thank you very much ahead of time.

Should I or shall I not

I am looking to get a new cell phone. After my SLVR had an unfortunate accident (it still works mostly but the screen is full of white lines now) I would like to get a new one anyhow.

I have considered just grabbing the D407. Its small enough and a flip and I rather like samsungs. I also saw the zx20 which looks nice if it weren't just and update ☹️

I would really like the 8125 but the price point and chance of being discontinued soon in favor of the 8525 makes me worried. But I love the Wifi and the slide out keyboard (I miss the speed at which I could text with my old nokia 6800 and my LG9100) and the PDA functionality would be really nice.

My question being, are their any owners of the above mentioned phones who have feedback ove...

When will the 8125 be discontinued?

They're pushing the refurbs on Cingular.com for 200 bucks, and I wondered if there's a possibility that the price comes down any further since the 8525 will be out next month. I'd like to know when they'll no longer be offered on the Cingular site......anybody know? What's the projected pricepoint of the 8525? TIA.

Hey i need some advice from ppl who switched to Cingular from Verizon..

because i am thinking about making the switch as well. If you all could do me the favor of telling me what state you live in and compare and contrast the two. PLEASE do not be biased and just gimme straight facts. However, at the end please tell me which you like better.... oh it would also be nice if you could tell me on average, how many dropped calls you get. I live in Bay Area, CA, which used to be a hellhole for Cingular, but apparently they have upgraded their systems a whole lot within the past couple years.

Thanks in advance! 😉

V3 freeze problem

Hey I'm having a problem with my v3 and wanted to see if anybody else had experienced the same problem. When you go to create a new text message the phone locks up and you have to remove the battery to get it to do anything. Thru trial and error I have realized that it has to do with the setting "itap english" if you change the setting to "english" it works fine. I've had the phone less than a year but I bought it off ebay so I don't think the XMB program will cover it. Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?
