Clearer Calls :)

Ok, I finally understand why plp always say that GSM is much clearer than cdma. After being on the phone with my aunt who has Vz I noticed the difference. She sounds like she is mumbling and I can't make out certain words. I was like OMG. This is just another reason for me to be happier with Cingular.

ANY Info on Nokia 6126?

Hi All,

I'm coming to this forum hoping that some knowledgeable Cing. employees will see and answer this post...

Does anyone know anything about why Cingular canceled the Nokia 6126 from their line up? All kinds of possibilities/speculation on many forums but I'm looking for some solid/reputable info. How does Cingular (or any carrier for that matter) go about deciding which phones will and will not be released? What would cause a phone to be canceled?

The Nokia 6126 (European version 6131) is such a great phone and I was twirling my thumbs all summer 👿 waiting for this phone to be released only to hear that it is now canceled. Nokia is still making the phone but it appears the only way f...

Any More Nokias for Cingular?

With the 6126 supposedly being cancelled by Cingular, as well as the discontinuation of a couple of phones from their current lineup (recently), does anyone know if there are any new Nokias coming? I read somewhere on here that there was a rumor about Motorola paying Cingular to offer more of their phones, or at least make them the only manufacturer in their lineup to have quad-band. There was also no word on the 6282 (UMTS). Also, any new Nokias I came across were either smartphones, or those not designated for NA. Does anyone (from either Cingular or Nokia) know of anything about more Nokia phones? 🙂

I got a RAZR V3i

its nice. i thought it wasn't supposed to be out yet? anyways. its pretty nice. it comes with only 256mb transflash vs. SLVR and ROKR's 512mb. But i have an extra one anyways. 1.3 mp cam is good, video is normal. nice design. external screen is not bigger like some people might think.

Off Network Usage- Here they all come...

Sprint appears to have changed it’s T&C regarding off net roaming.

º “Sprint may terminate service if a majority of minutes in a given month are used while roaming off the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. Source: Dallas Morning News Sunday August, 20, 2006

º The key phrase in the text below is “A majority of minutes may not be used while roaming off the Nationwide Sprint PCS Network”. Source: sprint.com Terms & Conditions

As I read this, it looks like Sprint could fire a customer with only one month of off net roaming at a 51% off net usage. That’s pretty aggressive.

Upgrade fees

I think upgrade fees for equipment upgrades are pointless. Just another way to squeeze more money out of a consumer. If I am willing to extend my contract for 2 YEARS, especially when I am not under contract, I should get a better deal. I should not have to pay some stupid fee that serves no purpose. Its not like I am making significant changes to my account. I simply want a new phone. For example... I want a Blue Razr. I already have to pay $150 for the phone, get a $50 MAIL IN rebate (instead of an INSTANT rebate) and then stick with Cingular for another 2 years... Where is the benefit in that? To save a lousy $50? I dont think so. I do understand that Cingular is a company that is there to make money, not give ...

seeing alot of this lately

poster: "when is xyz phone coming out?"

random phonescoop person:" ohh it will be out in just a few days!"

poster: (in a few days) "hey where is that phone cingular said would be out in a couple of days?"

random phonescoop person: its been scrapped not coming out at all!"

Getting to my point don't assume what you read on a forum that is the spoken word for cingular . just be patient and chill out

Chicago's western suburbs coverage...

Alright I'm curious about this and I'm sure there have been threads but nothing recent...

I recently switched over to Cingular(orange) from Cingular(blue/ATTWS) and since switching the coverage in and around my house has dropped where I never had a problem making a call in my basement and surrounding community for 6 years I now do. It seems like ther transition between one tower and the next is harder to make and causes the call to drop. Is there any reason for this or has anyone else had the same problem?

3G Nokia

I live in Houston and 3G has been rolled out since the early phases. I don't know whether I should buy an unlocked Nokia N80 smartphone that is quad band (850, 900, 1800, 1900) for voice calling , but is not compatible with Cingular's 3G network because the phone is built with 2100 mghz (Europe's 3G network) or wait and HOPE that Cingular carries this phone later this year (if I'm lucky).....

So, I guess I'm trying to determine if I really need the 3G downloads speeds or if EDGE will be enough for me......

From what I heard, the phone is awesome and works perfectly fine under Cingular's network. Just not 3G data download capabilities.....

Anyone with this phone - please give me your two cents (or anyone else too)...

Thanks,

Cingular roaming agreements in WI

I was wondering if anyone could clear up something for me. I went to a certain big yellow box retailer and overheard that cingular was dropping roaming agreements with Bug Tussel Wireless in the door county region. Any truth to it? Thanks in advance!

WOW CINGULAR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!!

Ok heres what happened...There is an online special for the SE T637 for $19.99 which I have been waiting for. I go to order it and an error comes up after it tries to process my order. Its giving me an HTTP error and not a Cingular. So I thought no big deal Ill just call it in. Well I was on the phone with them for 45 mins and they transferred me to 5 different departments and each of them told me I wasnt in the right department. So I got pissed and hung up and decided to try again this morning. Again the error came up and this time I called and was kept on hold for 15 mins. FInally got the right dept and she told me that she can give me the phone for $89.99 and not the online price. I asked to speak to a manager and she kept me on hold for ...

great service, not so good customer reps

i apologize in advance to all the honest cingular reps out there, though they may be few in number. I just purchased a data plan about half a month ago for the discounted thirty dollars a month. I explained that I needed all the help I can get because I need the internet on the road for business and I am not any where near wealthy. So the rep said I could get an unlimited data plan for $30.
Having done my homework I inquired as to whether I would have to purchase a voice plan for the discount and he said I would not.
I, happy as a clam in clear waters with my reception and blackberry 7130c, recieved my bill yesterday and wouldn't you know, he just tacked on one of those pesky voice plans at about $40 a month. So now I was payin...

ID Blocking

Does Cingular offer the ability to block caller ID on every outgoing call by default like Nextel(called line blocking)? Or does Cingular make me dial *67 before every call? Thanks.
