Data plan pricing

I'm about to switch carriers and the 2 it comes down to in my area (central Maine) is either Cingular or T-Mob. The other two in this area have outrageously priced data (for full internet access). What are you paying for data access on Cing? T-Mob seems to be offering unlimited data including using a phone-to-laptop connection for $20/month. From what I can tell, the same Cing offer is 59.99/mo. Is that right? What does Cing offer for that price that T-Mob doesn't?

All kinds of good news lately

Well, we are getting Mobi Radio on more phones, and MobiTV is expanding to a few more models...http://www.mobitv.com/get/cingular.h tml
And Media Net looks like it's going to get upgraded any day now, as well as PTT coming any day too.

These days are looking up, so keep the good news coming. Now we can use more multimedia things like video clips and such.

850 vs. 1900 GSM

I realize dual band 850 1900 is what you need to have but does anyone know where in the US a 1900 only phone will work as good as the dual band. I have heard the carolinas are 1900 only (or mostly) and Florida is mostly 850. Does anyone have some more definative info on this...are 1900 only phones useless? Cingular service is what I am refering to...

Thanks to all in advance for your help on this...

HSDPA not for Macs?

As a Cingular Agent I'm extremely excited about our upcoming UMTS and HSDPA. As a Mac lover I'm sad that companies still don't support them.

Does anyone currently using a Cingular Data Card use it on a Mac?

Dear CIngular Retail Compensation Decision Makers,

Dear Cingular Retail Compensation Decision Makers,

I dont know what schools you guys come from, but you are all absolute retards. You are being ruled by up-above bean counters that are going to run this company into the ground.

You people want 200% effort and performance from everybody, yet continue to cut cut cut. Commissions. No Cingular Rewards promos. Insurance plans are more money for less coverage. No overtime. The list just keeps going and going.

And you do it again. Youre cutting commissions in December. Instead of letting all of your sales reps get a bone and achieve a commission close or over $2000, you get even greedier and take more. Unbelievable. I wish I could get all you corporate bastards together, punch y...

My experience with "customer resolution center"

I called customer service to inquire as to why my recent bill was for $15.00 more than my previous bill. After the customer service rep could not figure out why there was an additional charge I was given to a person in the customer resolution center, thats what I was told. I have never been treated so rudely in my life. He told me that all plans and rates were subject to change and that it was in my contract. He actually stated that if they wanted to they could change my plan from the $65 a month I am now paying to $85 or reduce the number of minutes and I would be stuck, too bad and then laughed about it. I asked then what good is the contract for the amount of minutes I signed up for at a certain rate and he said it isn't and if I don...

The New Crack!

Maybe the subject of the thread is not appropiate, but it is going to be so true. I believe that the new Sony Ericsson Z520a is going to sell like crazy! The phone is amazing, and will blow all the midgrade Motorola's out of the water! Size, function, and durability are all there for this one. GREAT addition to the line of phones.

Cingular PTT lines

I was skeptical at first, but now that i have it. It works, It took a lil while and some frustration but its works better than nextel, (yes better than nextel).

reasons its better than nextel

-you can change from PTT to a regular call instantly.
-you can PTT groups so you can chirp more than one person at the same time. (up to 20)
-you can leave instant voice messages.

with the samsung phone that they give employees. the speaker is similar to the nextel motorola's and so are the ringers. its coming with bluetooth and and you can PTT with the bluetooth ear piece. the only problem so far is the fact that the phone is a samsung. so hopefully it wont need to returned because of defects.

its early in the stage so expect inte...

Instant Messenger

I have been having trouble using the aol instant messenger software on my phone. When I sign on in goes through the whole process and takes many minutes then eventually tells me the connection failed. However it will show up as connected on other people's buddy lists and it will even tell me I have new IMs. I just can't get into the software to access them b/c it will just bring me to the sign on screen.

This has happened with utiple screen names. And of course I got a Marketing Text from Cingular offering the great advantages of downloading IM software. Is this their way of telling me that the old software is not supported and I need to download the new stuff?

Thanks for everything.

What is wrong with Cingular's networks?

The writer that began the thread https://www.phonescoop.com/carriers/forum.php ?fm=m&ff=4&fi=432619 ...which is about when is it the best time to switch to Cingular...got an answer from one person that had in it that Sigman had said that their networks are all screwed up.

What is the problem, exactly?

I would guess that the ATT shutdown has shown they don't possess the network to handle 50+ million people. Also, maybe when tdma+amps formed the majority of their coverage, that amps effectively hid digital coverage holes that the gsm-only coverage can't as yet?

I'm not starting a flame-thread here. As someone having coverage with the company, I'm just interested in knowing the details of what my experiences have shown is truly a b...

Firefly

Firefly (the tween phone for 8-12 year olds) is available for purchase for Cingular dealers as of this morning.
CSP indicates the Launch Date of today (November 14, 2005).
We have had no clear communciation on the marketing plan, price points, etc.
While this phone is selling as a prepaid with some carriers, we were told that it would be a postpaid add on to a Family Plan with Cingular.
Does anyone know the particulars of selling the Firefly phones on Cingular plans.

Thanks for any information, in our market this might be a good seller for the Christmas season.

COU PTT Lines

Anyone know what's going on with the PTT COU lines? We got our phones last night and they're active, but we can't use PTT yet. When are they supposed to go live with PTT for employees? Our demo/training equipment has been working for weeks, so we're a little confused as to why we can't connect. 😕

Mysterious P207 returns to cingular.com

I noticed today that the Samsung P207 is listed again, I wonder if they are the last of the current stock, or the reflashed/updated ones people were talking about, it's such a beautiful phone. 😁
