Cingular is desperate. They cannot afford the press of another down quarter

Yet they will again sink to lower lows in relation to all the other carriers.

ATT won't save them. People are fed up and feel cheated. A reputation is a very difficult ship to turn around. The best sales reps are leaving for greener pastures. Cingular is farming out to Radio Shack instead.

Vodaphone should buy Cingular and change it's name to T Mobile,,,,.......Then Sprint can become number two.

A little birdy told me......to all Indirect signature stores

I heard up here in the north east that cingular is switching to a corporate store only policy. Does anyone no if this is going to happen? Does this mean that all signature stores are closing or are they going to be branded differently? I was just wondering if this rumor has any merit thanks.

Didnt See This Coming

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/techpolicy/busines ... »

This is gonna be very strange. You almost wonder if this is what theyve been planning all along, considering SBC IMMEDIATELY adopted the AT&T name internally and announced this decision.

How do you see the customers taking this one now?

Shoppers prefer Wal-Mart, RadioShack over carrier stores
Nov 18, 2005
PORT WASHINGTON, New York-Big-box retailers deliver a better shopping experience for mobile phone users than wireless operators do through their own branded outlets, according to a study from The NPD Group.
The survey of 2,100 consumers found that while 68 percent of all mobile phone and wireless service purchases were made at retail stores, RadioShack Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. provided the best overall shopping experience. Only 24 percent of recent purchasers described their experience as good or excellent.

Nextel Corp., which was recently acquired by Sprint Corp., and Cingular Wireless L.L.C. provided the best b...

Voice Mail Indicator Problem

My girlfriend is having a problem with the Voice Mail indicator icon not going away on her new SonyEricsson Z520a. It worked fine for about 2 weeks, but since last Thursday, it has not cleared away after listening to and deleting voice mail messages.

I am posting this here, because when we called Cingular for help on Friday, I was told that the problem is not specific to this phone, and that many others have reported this as well. The support rep was able to clear it manually, but then left a test message and the icon remained again. She did this 2 or 3 times actually.

She also mentioned that some people were able to resolve this by hitting * before ending their voice mail call. i didn;t by this because I have never one hit * after...

This just in!!

This just in!!

--------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------

Only reason I bring this into this forum is because it involves Cingulars parent companies.

So I have BLS realpages.com saved to my favorites, so how about when I just clicke on it this is what came up

The new YELLOWPAGES.COM combines the strenghts of three leading Internet Yellow Pages sites:

YELLOWPAGES.COM offers more content for consumers and more value for advertisers! Search for local businesses, find local information using our City Guides, and research products and services using our Consumer Guides.

If you have any questions about the new YELLOWPAGES.COM or about the joint venture between SBC and BellSouth, please con...

Associated Press article on cingular / at&t

(AP) - AT&T Inc., the company created by SBC Communications Inc.'s just-completed purchase of its former corporate parent, plans to resurrect the AT&T Wireless brand for cell phone service provided by its Cingular Wireless partnership with BellSouth Corp.

No time frame or details have been set for the plan, which is permitted under the joint venture agreement with BellSouth, but could generate friction between the partners when it comes to decisions such as allocating Cingular's financial resources for marketing. AT&T declined to say whether the AT&T Wireless brand might be marketed broadly or to a specific customer segment.

``We plan to sell our wireless service under AT&T Wireless at some point, but we don't have any definitive plan ...

Stan Sigman speaks on cingular / at&t

"Damn, Stan Sigman sent out a refutation of that. In some ways, I'm not surprized - Cingular's reputaion isn't great, and changing the name to AT&T would improve rep, but it would be a LOT of money. I agree with Springaf - about 2 years from now, they'll switch back to Blue."
-Japhy

I have requested a link on the subject, but it isn't entirely surprising that cingular would put its two cents in before the day was up. I guess Sigman answered a few questions for us. Hope he actually did speak out on it tho.

A polished turd is still a turd.........ATT Cingular. Same company

People really are dumb. Maybe Cingular is doing the right thing after all.

A name is only as good as the compnay behind it.

Cingular had a better name before the merger. ATT is now tarnished.

But Cingular has to change their name. they have no choice. They have become synonomous with crap service and a sketchy network. When T Mobile is adding more customers...well yes a name change is in order for all the dimwits who think a name change with change anything.

New at&T Brand...NOT a misquote, see link

This news article confirms that the re-branding to at&t is not a misquote, as mentioned in other threads.

Here is the link: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/ATT_CI NGULAR?SITE=TXHOU&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAU LT

A spokesman for the new at&t confirmed what the CEO had said earlier about future re-branding.

Just wanted to bring this article to light.

Cingular realy changing their name?

What is the real story? I have been reading the posts about Cingular changing their name to AT&T. I have been with Cingular since 2001,(the Birth Of Cingular), I'm happy with service and everything, but this hole new name change has got me all confused, I'm use to, what I'm use to. Change the name might make me change over to T-Mobile or Verizon. So what is realy going on? 😕

Future Plans with AT&T's Name

SBC has been in talks with the government since Jan 31st getting AT&T. Even longer just talking with AT&T. Therefore, I find it difficulat to beleive that after spending more money than any other company in the world on advertising (yes, even budweiser), Cingular would be reverted back to AT&T immediately.

I agree with many when I say that it will happen. But not now. SBC undoubted has its eye on BellSouth. Just look at all the post-1984 AT&T entities its gobbled up. Basically, SBC long distance, home phone, cable, and internet will all be renamed at&t. It shows unity and uses a name everyone knows.

What this means for cingular (or SBC) is that they can unify the image of all services and bring home customers to the cell phones,...

Like this is going to make a difference, right???

I read with incredulity the business section of the Washington Post yesterday (Sunday) and was literally floored by the announcement that the wireless company currently known as "Cingular", after buying out AT&T's wireless operation, decided to change their name to...at&t!!! Gee, I wonder why??? Could it possibly be that Cingular has taken such a black eye because of how poor their coverage is, and they think by changing their nameplate that will make things all better? What are these suits thinking? Have they ever heard that a rose by any other name stinks the same? Why in the name of you-know-who doesn't this company fix what's really wrong, and that's their network, or more specifically, the lack of it? A change as superficial as a ...

Question for RAZR users

I am a verizon indirect and have seen all the talk on here about when and if the RAZR is coming to our service.

I am asking all the Cingular RAZR users about the durability, the signal, battery life, overall quality of the phone.

It is really worth the 2 or 300 plus bucks on activation (if that is where they start it)?

Thanks in advance for the help.
