I scoped this good article at Business Week Online (see, I'm educated), in which Cingular's CEO talked 'bout what the company was tryin' to do and where it actually stands now.

Some interestin' parts:

Ӣ The word "Verizon" comes outta his mouth a lot in the interview. Its crystal that that's who he compares himself to, and worries 'bout the most. As a result, the article is kinda 'Verizon-centric'.

Ӣ He knows their customer service lags behind Verizon's, somethin' he's not happy with.

Ӣ Says they're trying to be "best in class" by the end of 2007. So, two years plus to go still, if it works out.

Ӣ Talks about how they're still into the 'heavy-lifting' of network integration, and how that'll help solve their churn and custom...

I'm eligible for an upgrade at the end of this month and want to get a phone that will be compatible with the new faster data network. I live in the Dallas TX market and i know it's being launched here, but what phones either out now (i don't think there are any) or phones that will be out soon will be compatible with this network?

Did anyone else receive European chargers for their Nokia 6102 handsets.

I have been called a Cingular fanboy. I am not a fan of cingular or verizon or T-Mobile or Sprint. I work for cingular so I know a lot about cingular. I am not a fan of any phone company I am simply a knowledgeable employee.I have got to say Cingular has a lot of work to do. They are over a year behind Verizon on 3g and also ranking low in customer satisfaction is also another problem. Network integration not being done network expansion greatly needed to improve customer experience. A lot of work is required the AT&T buyout has been tough. I didn't know Rollover was on a rolling 12 months (for those slow as me, that means you dont lose your Rollover every ANNUAL 12 months or your ANNIVERSARY date, BUT that for ex. Nov 2004 rollover minutes wouldn't expire until Nov 2005, Dec 2004 rollover minutes wouldn't expire until Dec 2005) this is Awesome! Hey Lorna, I got another Bluetooh headset for you to consider. I just recently (recently being yesterday 😁) got the Plantronics Voyager BT headset. It's a great headset and actually like the sound clarity better than on my Jabra BT250v. I also find it a little more comfortable for my ear. The thing I like about it the most is that the boom is a little longer than on the BT250v and it swivels up and down as well. Just thought I'd give you another option 😁

I am a former AT&T customer (Blue) with Cingular. My wife and I both have Mot V501's, but I am interested in getting the new iPaq 6510.

I went to a Cingular store today to find out what it would cost to switch plans, and it seemed reasonable enough, except the fact that the 'free' phones they will give in the transition aren't that nice.

Ideally, I would like for my wife to just keep her V505 on the Cingular network with her new SIM card from Cingular -- the sales guy even suggested doing that by having it unlocked.

I have heard a little bit about getting a phone unlocked, and there seems to be plenty of places online that claim to do it, but I am a little hesitant. Mainly because they all ask for your IMEI number.

Wondering what all you retail employees think about the commission payouts. Im personally tired of having to bust my ass activating 70 phones a month to clear a 1000.00 paycheck. not to mention how the foot traffic has been killed in the stores because of the wack promo's corporate offers and still expects high quota minimums. im in the north florida market and its gotten pretty sad how stingy the company is with there employees that are suppose to make them money. also tired every time theres a company meeting and they try to hype everyone up about new stuff that will happen involving the network and our customers but never talks about whats really relevant and thats keeping the employee happy to so they actually enjoy selling the product a...
