I know it was posted on the main page that Cingular was shutting down all pre-paid tdma sales in about three months. The question I have is are they shutting down all of the TDMA on there network as of the 1st of the year? Or is it just on pre-paid phones?

Just felt like I had to give some sort of semi-official review. So...

PROS
-262k internal screen/65k external screen (this is SICK). You can even have different wallpapers for the external/internal screens (nice touch).

-Keys are nice and large-very responsive (unlike my past motorolas)and overall keypad is well layed out. There are one-touch keys for camera, mp3 player 😁 (nice) and internet.
-Stereo speakers on top side of phone ROCK and are bearly visible.

-Call clarity is excellentand better than the moto's I've had. Reception also has been excellent thus far.

Ok reps I have a dumb question -- don't know if it's me or I'm just going braindead bc its almost the weekend, or what, but lemme ask this. If we suspend a phone by adding the lost/stolen restriction on there, does that block the sim only? The phone can still be used if say the person that stole it put their sim into it right? It doesn't block the IMEI? Geez I tell ya I know I already know the answer, but I just can't think straight. Thanks in advance!

I cancelled service with 2 other lines, leaving one line on Cingular. He wanted to stay because a lot of his friends are there, so, oh well. He doesn't use it much so the service issues don't really bother him, I guess. What really helped me to make this decision was that this one guy I spoke to gave me a $100 credit, for all the problems. Since another manager lowered my ETFs to $50/line, I pretty much paid nothing to leave. I may come back though, after the 2 years with the new provider. The last few people I spoke with were really nice. I kind of wish I could stay, but I do need something at least semi-reliable.

I've had 3 calls like this today. NO WE WILL NOT MATCH BEST BUY'S PRICE ON THE RAZOR!!! As a matter of fact, we will not match ANYBODY'S price on ANY PHONE!!! You sign a contract when you purchase that phone, therefore the price you agree to is the price you pay. You want a different price?? Fine, Buyer's Remorse your contract and go to best buy and get the phone you want, at the price you want, with a new phone number and new contract. Migrated over? Ported over? Sorry, you want that price after migrating or porting over, your going to lose your number. I am an agent in Arkansas. I am not afraid to speak my mind about the new pricing Cingular has given to the dealers. Here is an example, in the recent Best Buy Ad, they are offering the Motorola Razor for $89.99. Agents and retail stores are offering the same Motorola Razor for $219.99. This is NOT RIGHT!!! I work at my local Cingular Agent store and we are feeling the direct impact from this prime example of undercutting. I want to get a lot of replies to this supporting point that Agents and Retail store are being drastically undercut. Please speak your mind about this matter and I will do my best to see that the right people at Cingular get this. If you are a customer please tell us what you would do!

Just got the z520 couple days ago from Best Buy. I like the phone, but I don't like the fact that it "dropped" 4 calls today. I don't know if you'd call it dropped because I had good signal. It just disconnected from the person I was talking to.

I am using my sim card from the z5200a which is 64K.

Any comments/suggestions?

The reason would be that their subscriber growth has been decreasing from the first quarter to the 3rd quarter of this year 2005 and I am thinking that this will continue as Verizon wireless and sprint continues to do well quarter after quarter. (Tmobile USA is doing well too)

I am not quite sure what the exact reasons are but I think they are that 1. Their network is not that big. 2. They are losing market share to sprint and to Verizon wireless. And 3 integration problems. Perhaps there are others, but I do not know at this time.

I am hoping that with their increase in capex with tower buildings and the release of hsdpa will do something to reverse this decline in quarter subs and to steal back some of the customers that are going ...

Ok, I know the phone isnt available thru cingular yet, but I bought one at Target for $100. I comes with 30 prepaid minutes thru firefly, of course I stuck the sim for my kids line in it. The phone isnt locked, big plus. I dont know what the cingular packaging will look like, but from target it comes in a plastic jar, you know, like the kind you used to catch fireflies in when you were a kid. My kids are 4, 6, and 8 yrs old respectively. My 8 year can handle any cell I have, the 6 yr old can handle the non smartphones/palm phones. The phone is about 3 1/2 inches long 1 3/4 wide and 3/4 inch in depth, so its pretty small. The buttons are all easy to reach for little fingers. Best Buy has the new LG CE500 I think(not sure on the model) it is the MP3 phone, w/ camera & Flash.

Also they have the Sony Ericcson Z520 phone....yes no joke...Best Buy in Fayetteville NC...I even went to the cinglar store and one of the reps was telling me she was upset b/c she saw both of the phones over the weekend to and the actual Cingular does not even have them...not even listed on here as being released....maybe the got them early by mistake???

I've been having some strange problems with my Z500a phone. The biggest and annoying problem I have is what it does when you try to make a call. When you click the send button it says that its connecting, that lasts about 5 seconds and then it goes back to its default screen with no explanation of what happened. All the other phones I've had in the past that couldn't connect a call would say something like "network busy" or some other thing. Sometimes this happens two or three times in a row. I thought I was the only one having this problem until I spoke with a lady from work today who has this exact phone and she said she has the same problem with it.
