Bad Cingular sales support.

My wife an I are looking to get new cellphones and a new carrier. I went to Cingular store in the mall and was shocked by how little help they where.
1. Does Cingular have a phone that supports bluetooth OBEX and DUN?

2. Can I use it with my laptop every once in a while to get email and such when I am traveling without paying for a big data account?

3. When does nights and weekends start? Do I have an option to start them sooner?

My wife's family has all moved to Verizon but I do not like they way they cripple their phones. I could pick up a 815 and hack it but I would like to go with a company that doesn't do play stupid tricks.

I NEED AN ANWSER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM LOOKING AT THE NOKIA 7710 AS MY NEXT PHONE. I SEE IT CARRIES BANDWIDTHS OF 900/1800/1900. OF COURSE I AM WITH CINGULAR WHO CARRIES THE BANDWIDTHS OF 850/1900. WHICH MEANS I'LL ONLY BE ABLE TO HIT THE 1900MHZ BAND WITH THAT PHONE. IM NOT SWITCHING TO T-MOBILE (BAD COVERAGE, AT LEASET IN MY AREA). IS THERE ANY WAY ANYONE CAN TELL ME OR AT LEAST TELL ME HOW I CAN FIND OUT WHERE CINGULAR HOUSES THE 1900MHZ BANDWIDTH??? 🙂

THANKS!!

Great Cingular Support

So, for those that have been following my strugle, I'll let you know what's new with it. Those that haven't, pretty much, there's been horrible reception problems in my area.

Saturday, 10-15, I wasn't able to make or receive calls again. I called CS, got the after hours line, and called that. I talked to one lady, told her what happened and what had been happening. She said she's going to put in a ticket, but had to go check something. She put me on hold, and about 40 min. later some guy picked up. I asked where he came from and he said he was just answering calls and I was next. Turns out, she put me back in the queue and this guy's in FL. I tell him what's been happening and he says that it sounds like it's a tower issue. He sa...

Cingular's network problems and why?

I am going to say all I can about network integration and expansion. Cingular is in the middle of the largest network project in the history of wireless. Doing HSPDA/UMTS launch and network integration and network expansion and completing the GSM overlay that AT&T did not finish. AT&T was only around 80% done at the time of the buyout. At times people have complained about outages outages sometimes are planned reductions in service late at night or on weekends. But data features like SMS our down more frequently due to them needed to work on IRDB's and roaming data due to network integration. I read people on this board tossing around network integration but few here know what that means for customers. Most customers are not affected by thes...

horrible cingular support

I just went through three support calls to try an get my mobile internet working on the new unlocked SE 520. The first two where relatively benign but unsuccessful. No service. The i get to a level two support person and she starts the conversation by saying that Cingular's internet data will never work on a non-Cingular phone. i say i have had three phones. Then she says she can't guarantee it and that i should buy a Cingular phone. The says that the wireless internet is down so it might actually be working but they can't help me now.

I ask her why she feels the need to lecture me about phones, I called for support of a phone that they carry. She says she is explaining nit lecturing and then tells me i should never buy unlocked phones. I...

Two weeks and counting!!!!!!

I have waited for a long time to be month to month and be out of ETF territory.

Cingular has gone downhill in the past couple years and I need to be able to get out. Service here in South Carolina is terrible and I get 3 out of 5 calls dropped continously. Suncom is just as bad. I'm guessing its the GSM thing. What good are all the fun phones and flexible SIM cards if you cannot depend on using the phone reliablyf or it's primary intended purpose.

Verizon will soon be number one again ao it's either them or Sprint if Cingular comtimues to get worse.

Should Customers Research Phones????

In another thread a person said, "all I know is that the customer should research the phones before buying"....But if they are bad phones, should Cingular, or Motorola or Nokia, promote those phones, sending out mailers saying you can upgrade to a V180...come on now, we now the V180 sucks. About once a day, I have customers come in saying I read bad things about this phone and I want to know why
Cingular would promote this item or sell this item, if Cingular knows it has problems. Just wondering what you guys think.

Should the customer be responible to reasearch the phones, before buying?????

the good... the bad... and....

ok here goes nothin.

so i read all the posts that pretty much come into this forum because i'm bored at work all day, so i thought i would put in my cingular story.

ive been a cingular customer for about 16 months or so and i've been pretty happy with them overall. Granted its been like a roller coaster ride with customer support since ive had them but lately theyve been a lot nicer to me.

At the beginning, my phone didnt work that well (i had a moto v600) and it would always freeze, cut out, turn off.. you know... that old story... they pretty much told me that it wasnt any big deal, some kind of network problem in los angeles and that it would be fixed. I then learned that the phone was discontinued and recalled, but still... they...

More commission cuts???

Company owned retail sales: There is a rumor that upper management (ARSMs, Directors, etc) has recently started conference calls with all SM's and ASM's that describe how the company is planning to cut commissions again, to the point it will only make up about 30-40% of our total pay (whereas now it is about an average of 70% and up).

Its bad enough taht my commission checks have gone from an average range of $1800-$2200 down to $1100-$1400 this past year (a couple of months even lower), but now this?????

How could this company not realize they would "get what they pay for" if they continued to Nickle & Dime some of the people MOST IMPORTANT to them: those that face the customer every day!!!!

Are we really becoming clerks?!

PAR or QA

Ok reps I need a lil support here. I've been working for Cingular for about 9 or 10 months, and have always felt that I've done a good job. Always been to work on time (I even show up like 30 min early, which really doesn't mean **** if you work in a call center since you can't start working until you log in). I've never had any conflicts with my manager or other employees. I always try my hardest at work and try to do my job the best of my abilities. I work a split shift, so there are times where I can get a lil stressed about things and where my day doesn't go so well.

However, with all that being said, when it comes to working for this call center, all that don't mean ****. You could try to show your fellow workers and those above...

Sprint/nextel a marriage that could be unhappy for customers.

When Cingular and AT&T first started upgrading to GSM they introduced GAIT GSM/TDMA dual technology phones. Great idea on paper but put into action the hand off between GSM and TDMA was causing dropped calls. And you have to decide on a dual technology phone which tech is the phone going to look for first. If it looks for CDMA first you got problems if it looks for IDEN first u got problems. I have learned working for Cingular is it is tough maintain two technologies at the same time and create a good customer experience. In many ways the GSM overlay for Cingular has gone very well but from a customer experience. If u think the AT&T Cingular merger was a mess. Don't let people fool u into believing that Sprint/Nextel will be so much smoother...

No more TDMA!!!!!

Just got the news -- Cingular is losing (badly) the patent infringement case involving the Cingular TDMA prepaid replenishment/accounting system and must now, by order of a Judge, stop activating any new TDMA's ANYWHERE. What's even better -- we can't even service TDMA customers at all in 90 days unless Cingular throws some Hail Mary. Woooo!!!!!!! I hate TDMA. 😎

HSDPA and SIM Cards

Will the launch of the UMTS/HSDPA network require a new SIM card (128k), or will the current 64k SIM's work in the new phones?

Also, out of curiosity, as the network approaches being "Gold" will people who have old Blue SIM cards find themselves without a signal, since those towers will be converted, or does a Gold tower mean that its SID carries both the Blue and Orange names?

Thanks

UMTS/HSDPA means better signal coverage??????

Quick question for all you cingularians or whatever you call yourselves. Does this upgrade by cingular which is suppose to launch next month mean that users in these projected cities will see a significant improvement in there RF or signal quality? Meaning because this upgrade is both voice and data capable are users going to notice much less frequent dropped calls? As well as much better penetrating signal? If not this launch really does nothing to help the major problem cingular is facing and that is in-consistent network, hopefully the answers are all yes to my questions otherwise cingular is doing nothing more than providing data speeds equal to what verizon has done long ago, only thing being is cingulars network is no were near as cons...
