parents are too soft

I always get calls in from parents freaking out about overages on their children's lines- "but suzie PROMISED me she didn't do that! it must be your system" etc.

well I just got a call from a mother who was actually not in denial. She called in because she recieved an invoice over $500 due to her 2 children using mmode, txt messaging and going wayyyyyyy over their minutes.

Initially the customer wanted to suspend both of the lines until her children would become responsible- I advised her of our new policy where we can't suspend, but we can "opt out" of pretty much everything except MMODE. She seemed more than happy with that idea. she wanted me to opt those lines out of everything i could. But by the end of the call she had me add...

What is my termination fee

In the last 2 months I have been told 6 different early termination fees.


First i Was told 240.00
then i was told 100.00 if dont before June 28
then yesterday i was told 150.00
i called today and was told 40.00
the store told me 80.00
called back and was told 30-50

the guy even told me to go to the store and buy an antenna booster and fax my cingular receipt to him and he would credit my account for the purchase. Well they dont sell signal boosters at cingular stores. What is going on here?!!?

The last lady when in detail to explain why its 40.00 so should I assume its 40.00?

funny call

i just had a customer, she said she asked for her phone to be cancelled and it wasnt. looked into account it was cancelled today effetive for eobc adv this to customer, wow did she just start yelling, so i let her vent right after she was done i adv her i could add inbound and outbound restrictions so the customer could not use the phone at all but she would still be billed to EOBC

than she was like VERBATIM
" YOU KNOW WHEN THIS WAS ATT WIRELESS THEY WOULD HAVE CANCELLED THE ACCOUNT RIGHT ON THE SPOT YOU GUYS ARE SO MUCH DIFFERENT"

is it me or can you not have yopur service cancel that same day on the cingular gsm side haha i informed her i worked for att before the merge and she just grumbled to herself

"talks" software

Does anyone know anything about the "talks" software? Is it suppose to allow some of our future phones to have ptt ability? If it does mean ptt, well I don't really care about that change. But i'm still interested in any change we may have in the near future.

Transfer from phone memory to SIM card?

I just bought the new black V3 😁, and the Cingular salesperson transferred all of my contacts from my old Nokia phone SIM card to my new V3 phone memory. Is there any way to transfer all of the contacts from the V3 phone memory to the new SIM card without manually changing each one? Can anyone offer suggestions?

guy called in with a go phone. demanded a .10 credit for airtime, When I explained to the cus that we are not responable for numbers that are dialed wrong he hung up saying he was just going to call back in to find the rep that would give him a .10 credit...yes he called in and yelled at me over .10

Ok, just got a nice customer, who INSISTED that i say Aboot. no. I say about. he repeated it to me and when he said it - it sounded just like when i said it. I'm utterly confused. it really sounded no different. I advised him I am from western washington (is what we're supposed to say- can't disclose the call center location) and he proceeded to tell me how funny it was that I said Aboot. I say about. a b o u t. about. not aboowwwwt like a southern acct, but just about. not boot. bout. I just don't get it. he sounded no different than me. not that im offended or anything. i just don't get it!? do we really say aboot?

Thank you for not complaining, not whining, not demanding a credit that is not due...

Thank you for understanding you HCA, your roaming charges, your international long distance call charges...

Thank you for making me laugh NOT because of your situation BUT because of your awesome humour, for giving me a 10 out of 10 on the survey NOT because you just want off the call but because you truly think I deserve the rating, for asking for a supervisor NOT to do an escalation but to give a kudos for a job well done...

Thank you to all the good customers for being such damn AWESOME customers and if I could give YOU guys a kudos I would, but because I can't I help you out service wise....

great customer

i jsut had a call lasted over an hour and was great...
called in asked ( not demanded asked) by the way never had to get supervisor on the line
customer kindly explained his long situation to me, he had 3 issues

he couldnt migrate over to cingular and keep his same kinda plan( in his case i could understand how he explained it to me)

2nd issue when he got fed up and ogot a treo phone from a store they lied to him about activation of the phone and how it worked

3 issue VIEW MINUTES need i say more

i gave him the crd for overages with view min becasue it was our probme he couldnt view his min and even though yes it can go down yada yada yada customer was really nice obut it and i wanted to help him. BOOM OVERAGES CRDT BACK

Have your noticed with the V3....

They have alot of problems??? Like when a customer calls and says, "my voicemail isnt working" its b/c the retrieval number isnt programmed...same with txt msg and media net. For people to spend so much money on those phones, I dont understand why they have those issues. When a customer gets a phone in the store, do they reps have to put that info in there or are they "supposed" to have it in there already???

"de-branded" phones

does anyone know....

in BEUC (blue) we were told that since the merger, the phones listed as "de-branded" or under "both (orange/blue)" on our grid could be uses on either blue gsm or orange system. (ex- moto v551, moto razr and others) So if a blue cust decides to upgrade right now and keep his blue plan and gets a v551, if he decides in a couple months to migrate to cingular he only needs a sim card and cingular plan- the phone can go over. Now, I had a cust call today stating that he went into a store to migrate and they had no problem migrating him, but they told him that there was no way he could use his (att) debranded Mot v551, he would have to get a new v551 @ 74.99 (when he bought his current one for 99.99 4 months ago. this goe...

Motorola Part Question

I have a Motorola V400 and was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy replacement parts for it. In particular, I'm looking for the little rubber piece that goes into headphone jack. I've seen replacement antennas online, but can't seem to find this. When I do a google search, apparently I can't figure out what it's called because nothing even comes close.

FIX IVR...Prompt to call from landline for troubleshooting!

We NEED to all emphasize to our floor managers, area managers and directors the importance of changing the IVR system so that when you select the option for phone problems that it clearly says "if you are having trouble with your wireless phone, please call back from another phone with your wireless phone in hand" like it does for XBM. This would help so we wouldn't always have to place o/b calls from our desk phones, have the customer drop on the other line and kill our availability.

SST rep's need to stop telling lies ! ! !

Okay . . . I just took a call from SST Rep. who says that the caller is saying that they cannot place or receive any calls . . . SST Rep says that they had customer remove the battery and SIM and still cannot call out . . . So, I told SST to bring the customer on the line, I looked at the account and saw that the customer had Incoming Calls ONLY and Outgoing Calls ONLY features on the line, so I removed these features and asked the customer to power the phone off and then back on and try to make a call . . . The customer says :

"I don't have the phone right now"

WTF -- how do you call in to customer service to get help and you don't have the phone 😈 👿

Let's try this out.....

I say we all take Tex's advice...and move our rants to shop talk or to the lounge. While we will still continue to answer questions here, not because we are reps, but because we are peers that happen to have a little bit more insight into the industry. I am tired of people whining about the fact that we just come here to have a little fun, and sad but true, the easiest fun to be had is making fun of stupid customers. So lets move our rants to the other forums, and just see if my theory is true. If people still come over there and yell at us for ranting, even though we will now be doing it in the "proper" forum. I believe there is no solution to this problem, but they think this is the perfect solution, so lets see how long they stick to ...
