Why is it that the majority of people want to spend the least amount of money on one of the most important pieces of electronic equiptment they own? Most people rely on their cell phone more than there laptop. I wonder why some people will not give a second thought to spending thousands and thousands of dollars on a tv that they might only watch a couple hours a week(also paying a monthly cable or dish bill), but can't comprehend why they should pay anything for a phone, that is their lifeline for business.
Anyone's input will be greatly appreciated.

Outage In Virginia?

Can someone check to see if there is an outage in VA (area code 24501)? Everytime I try calling a Cingular customer (including myself) I get a fast busy tone. Thanks!

Q's about phone avilability and porting and buying

I went to amazon.com to look at the phone (S710a), and put in my zip (49099) and it said the phone is not available in my area. Cingular.com and buy.com and wirefly.com all let me add it to a cart. Whats up with amazon? Is there something they know about my area and this phone? Or is it just that amazon only has rights to sell in certain areas/markets?

Also, regarding number porting, my current mobile number is a local cell number for the next town, zip 49091, but in 49091 I dont think any site will allow me to buy cingular service (cingular.com, wirefly, buy.com, amazon.com all fail). Is it possible to port that number then? Or doesnt it really matter? I realize that amazon cant port, but they also have the best price it seems, $2...

Are Cingular GRPS settings universial?

Hello All:
Just got an SMT 5600 unlocked off of ebay. I migrated my old TDMA att account to a Cingular plan. Put sim in works fine, but I have the same issue that every one has had with the internet connection- Can not get anything. No settings seems to work. Tried all the fourms out there and all the diffrent settings(WAP,GPRS,Proxy) people have claimed worked- but nothing. Called Tech desk at Cincular and given the same story I expected to hear "we don't support the phone" but they gave me some basic settings. Rep said I would need to register my account online and check the option for accsess medianet. Cingular account site has been down all day. Since the new settings my phone periodically beeps and says unable to communicate with netwo...

Everytime we get rid of one moron, another takes his place. ENOUGH already with the dick-measuring contests and the whiny my-company-is-better-than-yours bulls#!t.

this forum is for customers and employees to come share information, not to bitch and whine about nothing important. when the last retard (Blueguy) finally disappeared, this forum was nice and friendly for a few days, until someone new replaced him.

i consider myself one of the more knowledgeable reps who visit this site, and enjoy helping people when the have questions, but this forum has gotten unbearable. every time i look, the entire first page is the same thread with endless replies back and forth of arguments. this is why i have not checked the site in about 5 days.

buying a phone from someone i dont know...

Hi! I plan on purchasing a phone from a person who posted a ad on a website. How do I know that this phone is not stolen or blacklisted for any reason? Will I have any problems if I buy this phone without knowing this info? He said it is brand new but I dont want to get screwed for $200. Please let me know. THanks.

IT WAS SO FUNNY I AM NOT EVEN MAD

Ok I called in to tech support because when I turned on my phone" MOTO V400" this morning it did not have any service and that has never ever happened before I have always had great service at my home with Cingular so I called to see what was going on and after several test done by the lady in tech support she tells me to tune the phone back on and say ok now what do you have and I say well I still don't have any service and here is where it gets funny she say to me" if you don't have any service you wont be able to make any phone calls" and thats when i say to her well thats kinda the whole reason I am talking to you in the first place. πŸ˜•

Customer wants us to pay him for driving to a store...

😈 I just took a call from a customer that was angry because he took the time to drive to a store and when he got to the store the store had closed 6 minutes early. He informed me he gets paid $120 per hour and since he took the time out of his day to go to the store, we should pay him $120. Then he wanted us to take off four 411 charges since he girlfriend called 411 for directions and they finally told her she should stop at a gas station and look for directions. Then he was angry that he wasn't recieving his corp discount for his RAZR phone and his $200 plan. Looked at notes and discovered that he was actually in collections and had a number suspended because of collections....not such a big shot now huh? 🀣

Hello Eveyone.. I have a question. Can you please tell me who deals with VIP upgrades? Customers are receiving letters in the mail for a free upgrade. So, what department does it? I'm in C&A, and I hear that customers are supposed to call an 800# that's on that letter.. But dealers are calling and saying there's no 800#. If there is an 800#, what is it?..Please help.. I'm confused...Thanks!

what upgrade?

I sent an email into Cinguar yesterday about upgrading. I am a former ATTW user who is out of contract. So I figured I might qualify for some rebates since I have never been an official Cingular user. I stopped in a couple stores and called a couple online places and the answer was pretty much the same. If I wanted to get discounts on the phone I would have to change my number, or move off of Cingular for 6 months and then come back. I have had my eye on either the Razr or the S710a and I didn’t understand how Amazon or Buy could offer the same phones with so many rebates. Get ready to laugh

Ok, it's always a good way to start the day if you can laugh at someone else's misfortune. Here's the deal:

I'm a Cingular agent, in my store we have a strict dress code (stricter than Cingy's) including wearing a tie at all times, polishable leather shoes and long sleeve shirts. It's so strict as to mention that sleeves cannot be rolled up more than two folds. I'm not fond of this code as I tend to be a jeans and t-shirt guy who wears sandals (Rainbow's are the most comfy shoe in the world) a lot. That being said, I drove 45 min. to get to work this morning only to find that I forgot to grab my leather shoes when I left the house. I'm the only one in the store ALL day so goin home to get them's out of the question.

Question

I work for an indirect agent and I have a question. I had a customer that came in today that I had activated on Friday. During the weekend one of their co-workers told them about a good deal that could get on-line. Waived activation, $25.00 worth of accessories, plus their 39.99 bill would be like 32.99 they said. They work for the government somehow. Told them to go to the Retail Store so that they could apply a discount assuming that the retail store could apply this if on-line had a discount for them. They turned them away saying they couldn't. Is this true their are online monthly discounts for rate plans that agents/retail stores cant compete with? Shipping methods used, order status

After ordering a phone by calling customer service, there is practically no way to check the status of the order to see if it was filled. It's only been 3 days... but is there any way to really check?

The cost of S&H is $14.99 for a 3 to 5 day arrival of the phone. Does anyone know what kind of shipping method this is...overnight, second day air...?

AT&T Wireless S&H was 9.99 for standard overnight. What a crazy $5.00 price hike if this isn't at least 2nd day by Cingular.

Cingular says that either FedEX or UPS would send for them.

Any suggestions?

30 day return policy

So I have a question about the 30 day return/trial policy at Cingular. Lets say I buy online from Cingular, and get all my stuff, and love the service, but not the phone. Whats my options at that point? Live with a phone I dont like? Return it all, cancel, and start over? Someway to change out phones easily, without huge outlays of hard to find $$$$?
