What does "Unknown" Caller mean?

I just found an unanswered call as "Unknown". My phone was on, but I did not answer, and apparently Voice Mail did not pick it up either.

It will not let me "call" the number back, or even see who it was.

What does this mean?

Thanks.

OK, so is this gonna be possible?

Here's the situation. I got a x427. I'm sick of it, so I'm looking for something new (yes, I'm eligible for upgrade). However, I'm a complete cheapwad, so I've been shopping around for months for the best value. I've decided on the v551.

Here's where it gets fun. Best Buy currently has it for $50. For new customers. Which I am not. It would seem I'm up a creek on this one.

HOWEVER. My friend is looking to get a cell phone as well, and Best Buy is also conjointly running a "Buy 1 v551, get a v220 FREE (via mail-in rebate)" deal. So I suggested that he get in on that deal, I'd pay for the v551 (at the $50), and he'd take the v220.

Now, I'm assuming that I can just throw my SIM card in and it'll cooperate, but that's my biggest conce...

Suggestions?

Since the 6230 has been discontinued and almost impossible to find, can anyone offer any other suggestions on a good phone? Is the V551 better than the Z500? What about the new Samsung P207? Or the Nokia 6010 or 3220? Or the Samsung E316 or LG1400? Or any other suggestions. Thanks

Sony Ericsson s710 and MobiTV

Does anyone know if the Sony Ericsson s710 has became compatible with MobiTV as of yet?

If not now, then when might we see this phone able to use this application?

TDMA and AMPS

I've read that amps has to be kept at least until 2008, but what about tdma? Will the company keep the same footprint for it (for now) or are they turning off large areas of tdma coverage as I write this?

I've got several family members on old tdma nation plans (with ancient nokia phones) and I wondered how long it would be before they might notice big coverage holes, assuming their phones hold out.

CIngular + FedEx = BAD!!!

This is about the 3rd call i've had about this same problem. I'm not sure if TeleSales or FedEX does it, but customers seem to keep having problems with the "signature waiver" when they didn't ask for it. Then somehow the phones get delivered, but aren't waiting at the front door.

I guess you could blame the dishonesty of people in this world now days too...but is this us(Cingular) doing it, or does FedEX just automaticaly do it.

I asked Fedex and they said it was customers options, but i've had people call in and never heard about the signature waiver, and dealing with people all day long you can kind of point out the ones who are BSing and lying....any idea on a way to fix all this? any big shots on here up in the food chain at cin...

6820

i have wanted this phone since i first saw it...and at&t was the only carrier offering it

anyways

why can't nokia update this model? to have a NICE color screen and up to par camera and ability to play mp3 ringtones? i swear if it had those added features alone it'd be the perfect phone

i herd the LGf9100 doesnt compare to the 6820 and i'm sure the A630 doesnt either with motorola's horrible battery life lol

Now with Cingular!!!! But have an odd number (not local!)?

Ok so I got my order confirmation and was quite happy! But then I noticed my new number. 616-510-XXXX. Immediately I knew that number is a Grand Rapids area number, for west michigan. For those that dont know, Michigan's west side is split between 269 in the south, and 616 in the middle, and 231 at the north. I am at the southern end of 269, practically into Indiana. So I was assigned a non-local number, in fact long distance from any landline unless I drive 1.5 hours north.

So, because I didnt port my SprintPCS number (269-689 AC and exchange) and my brother's Sprint number here (same town as me) is 269-483 is portable according to cingular.com, I figured I was going to get 269-483-something. Not a major problem, because as I see ...

Assistance adding discounts (orange reps please help)

I got a customer yesterday who called about not receiving her employee discount. She is a government employee for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I'm already not too familiar with adding discounts, and having trouble finding the ABI for this one. If anyone knows where I could find it, what it is, or a universal ABI that could be used for any account, please either post it here if possible, or if not then PM me or let me know to PM you.

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know if Cingular is going to retaliate on Verizon's unlimited txt-pix-flix for $5 to other Verizon customers? In other words do any of you see Cingular doing something similar?

Text Messaging Down?????

I just tried to send a text message from my RAZR and it would not go through. It gave me a "Status 42" error.

But when I moved my sim to my 6230 it went through just fine.

Is there a problem with text messaging on the network? Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? It seems to only be an issue when I try to send a text to someone who is not a Cingular customer.

"Why in the world would you think your cell phone would work in your house?" Asks Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg.

Verizon customers, you all better head over to Cingular if you expect to be able to make calls from inside your house. Apparently your current carrier isn't making that luxury a priority at this time.

Update 5: Cingular Posts Loss Despite Revenue Growth
04.20.2005, 04:45 PM

Cingular Wireless LLC, the nation's largest cell phone provider, reported a $240 million loss in the first quarter despite solid growth in subscribers and revenue. It also said Wednesday it cut 1,500 to 1,600 employee jobs in the three-month period.

The loss reported by the Atlanta-based joint venture of BellSouth Corp. and SBC Communications Inc. for the three months ending March 31 compares to a profit of $215 million for the same period a year ago. The year-ago figure assumes Cingular and AT&T Wireless Services Inc. were a single company, although Cingular's $41 billion purchase of AT&T Wireles...
