why does cingular customer care cold transfer calls

I am a blue rep, who gets calls from Cingular from our customers who want to pay their last bill. while cingular gives me the customers phone #, they still cold transfer the call. If customer care is going to cold transfer the call then what is the sence of giving us the information... the call then comes to us with the customer saying "hello.... hello" so we have to introduce ourselves. with us our policy is to warm transfer all calls unless the wait time is over 40 seconds. so can someone fill me in on this policy from Cingular 😕

Danish study finds no link between cell phones and brain tumors

WASHINGTON-A newly published Danish study found no link between cell-phone use and risk for certain brain tumors. The study, part of a large multi-nation European study, was published Tuesday by the American Academy of Neurology in the journal Neurology.
The population-based, incident case-control epidemiology study focused on the relationship between mobile-phone use and cases of glioma and meningioma.

The authors ascertained all incident cases of glioma and meningioma diagnosed in Denmark between Sept. 1, 2000, and Aug. 31, 2002. They enrolled 252 persons with glioma and 175 persons with meningioma aged 20 to 69. The authors also enrolled 822 randomly sampled, population-based controls matched for age and sex. Information was obtained...

This may sound really dumb...

But Cingular's logo, the little orange guy, does he have a name?? lol. 🤣 I've been wondering that for a while. He's sort of the mascot for Cingular, and mascots usually have names, does anyone know if he has one? Sorry for the stupid question. 🤭

Data, mmode and e-wallet

For all of you wondering when you download a ringtone you are using e-wallet you are being charged for the ring tone and data. Alot of people can't seem to understand how this works. Judging you don't have an mmode package on the account when you download a ring tone to your phone you have to go in your mmode to basically save it to the phone and are actually being charged for the tone usually $1.99 and $0.03 per KB. Chances are if you are disputing the ewallet and data charges and call customer care you will not get a refund because your data and ewallet (ringtone) purchase dates will match up..

Sun Com in Myrtle Beach question

I'm in Myrtle Beach right now and met a friend who has Suncom.Looks lke TDMA. She has 6 months left on her contract and needs a new phone. She currently has unlimited regional minutes for $50.

Can she go to Cingular without paying the ETF of $200 or did Cingular just buy the Suncom in the Virginia market?

SIM Card

Just wondering, would SIM card inside of the cingular cellphones qualify as a "database"?

Thanks

Dang Money

I hate the fact cingular charges anything for their service...I want it for free! I don't think that too much to ask. I mean actually paying for a service...crazy talk.

GAIT

Hey guys, can anyone fill me in on something? My mom is a current cingular customer using a Nokia 6340i GAIT phone. She has been holding on to it and her plan for as long as she can for the multi-network coverage, but just got a letter the today and wants my help because I'm in the biz. She didn't have the letter with her when she called me, but it said you guys were upgrading your systems and was offering her one of two free phones. One camera phone, and one that didn't have a camera, but was comparible in features. Is this the "get your butt into a GSM phone and plan finally" letter? Which phones are being offered?

Ogo- Am I Alone?

I often find myself fascinated with different products. One that has fascinated me to a MINOR point... OGO.

Ogo is very similar to the v100 that Voicestream (now T-Mobile) used to carry. Officially (according to http://www.cingular.com/ogosales) Ogo's definition is: Mobile messaging device for IM E-MAIL TEXT.

Unoficially? Its kinda like a 2-way pager with WAP. Text & Data only. No Phone on it.

Am I the only one who thinks that OGO is an abomination? What is the point?

Ogo could have been very successful, had it included a PHONE!

Assistance would be much appreciated.

Had a customer who was charged full retail price for a phone, even though it was replaced by the insurance (it was lost, so there was no damaged handset to return). He should only have the $50 non-refundable deductible to pay. It was a phone that is not normally insured, but he had it on the account and had been paying the premium. It was a one time courtesy replacement followed by the cancellation of his insurance.

I called Customer Care to have the charge reversed, and the rep said that it probably wouldn't be because it was a 'normal' charge. But she said a supervisor would have to credit the account. Had no help there, and the customer is cool about it. He just wants a charge that was placed in error removed from his bill.

Ca...

Hey everyone, let's all complain about the $18 upgrade fee!!!

Common people. Let's think this through. ATT went bust because they gave away everything they could. That isn't conducive to making a profit. Every company in the industry charges for something, most all of them charge for an upgrade. And yes the fees can be waived, but that's one of the ways that ATT went Tits up. Every company in the industry has taken note about the the way not to do buisness from ATT and are cracking down on waiving those fees. So keep complaining, but as long as you are getting your checks be happy that your still in buisness.

Call it a REACTVATION fee

I can sympathize with you Reps who have to deal with these people. But you should be kind and let them know there are many choices. Tell them they will be missed and you appreciated their "loyalty" (as long as it benefited them of course to be loyal).

Then tell them they can stay month to month and you will waive the reactivation fee. No contract no new phone free or heavily discounted.

This has to be done gently because us customers (especially USCC and ATT always got "incentives" like more minutes and free top tier phones at one time to "stick around" for another year.

This is changing and as always when a luxury becomes a necessity is painful to the very customer that made it so. Stand you ground but avoid insult and innuendo ...
