GSM Phone Features

Unlike U.S. Cellular, Cingular has failed to offer speech recognition dialing and speaker phones on their mid and low priced phones. They also seem uninterested in adding these features in the future and I believe this to a key selling point to U.S. Cellular over Cingular Wireless. Cingular says these features couldn't be added to GSM technology, but I believe this to be untrue, Motorola and LG both said it is up to the carrier as to what features are incorporated into a new handset...any input would be appreciated.

Tethering question

With Cingulars Media Net feature for $24.99, does that include when you use tethering(sp) or is there a different more expensive feature to hook up your phone as a wireless modem?

I prefer an anwser from a CSE rep or orange care.

Thanks!

Cingular + AT&T Wireless= Everthing Is More Expensive?

First I would like to say, I feel like I feel like I am gong back in time. At this rate, I will never migrate from ATTWS. I have been waiting for the new plans to come out so I could save some money on my bill & stop wasting minutes every month. I don't know how everyone else feels, but i think that hiking up the costs is a bad idea & will drive away new & existing customers.

I think that Cingular bit off more than they could chew. How you ask? I have noticed that since Cingular acquired ATTWS, all the good stuff has gone out the window.

Attws was very good about offering competitive rate plans & comparable equipment. When i activated my service years ago, I had about 1000 anytime minutes/8000 night mins @ 8pm for $89.99 & each addit...

The Pissing Contest

It is a well known fact that everyone will battle over which carrier is better, which one is the biggest, or which one is the best.

Cingular has the largest customer base in the US, which is over 40 million customers. T-Mobile has under 20 million customers, but if you add in Deutche Telekom, they have over 50 million. Verizon was the largest carrier for quite some time.

T-Mobile offers 3 day weekends
Cingular offers Rollover
Verizon has great equipment

My point is, no matter what company you work for, or which one you subscribe to, each company has their own perks.

No matter what you say, someone will always try to beat you (I am sure someone will try to do it here). Just remember:

It doesn't matter how large your "carri...

The Allover Network, the best to get better

Cingular has previously announced that there would be a broadband speed, UMTS network launched starting in portions of the country in the fourth quarter. Right now, EDGE covers a large portion of the GSM network, which i've found that the Allover network is indeed just that. The coverage without question cannot be outdone, with inclusive data coverage in the same areas.

The best coverage and EDGE data speeds will probably only get better with the intoduction of UMTS. One of the really neat features is video calling, and hopefully the handsets are affortable, at least $300 or less on a two-yr agreement. Can anyone imagine video calling capability over Cingular's national network, we're talking 48 million now...that's more than totally awes...

I felt so stupid... so I transferred her to cust care; she also wanted to cancel one line....

VOICEMAIL PROBLEM

I just got a unlocked MOtorola v620 and works great except for voicemail. When I get voicemail, it comes out as a text message asking me to "read" it. I don't get the voicemail icon. I asked Cingular tech support without luck; they tell me to call MOtorola for software update. But MOtorola tells me it's a Cingular problem.

Has anyone encountered this problem and if it was fixed? thanks in advance.

Military Discount

Okay, the place I am working for is supposed had a contract with ATT, and we're able to get a 19% discount. I had an existing plan with Cingular, which, as we all know, is one with ATT now. So I walked into a store, and had the store reps check my ID and note my account (I'm not active duty, but as far as I can tell, the discount still applies to my organization. the store reps were hesistant though). I did that about two or three weeks ago, an they said that the request would have to be proceesed. Hwoever, I check the bill that just came out, and there doesn't appear to be any discount. (I was told 7% before here and in the store, 19% on the website for our organization). The issue is, there doesn't appear to be any kind of discount,...

cingular dial up networking w/bluetooth

Thanks to a few of you, I haue been able to get my ipaq 4155 connected to my motorola 551 phone and to gprs-so i think.

However I am still unable to browse web pages. I always get the message 'page not found'. I tried adding static dns addresses, but still no go.

I suspect that dhcp doesn't assign ip or dns entries properly.

Have any of you been able to get this to work ? If so can you share your settings?

Regards,
Don S.

Question to Orange Reps

This one has been bugging me for awhile. Does anyone know, or has a theory, as to why we cannot right-click on the taskbar any longer. I know this has been in effect for several months, but I've never received a straight answer as to the reasoning behind this and was wondering if anyone out there knew.

Cingular Reps

😁 I know that there are several Cingular reps in here. Got a question. For us all to work @ the same company it looks like that all of us have different info on certain things. Aren't we suppose to be the same company state to state. I just see that in some markets that info is totally different that what you see, hear, & are told to do in other markets.

voice storage in phone book

Does anyone know how a name can be voice stored in the phonebook for the Moto V551? I have been trying to figure it out from the useless manual that comes with this phone. And does Cingular charge to utilize this option? As in is this an extra service?

MobiTV for the v400

I finally waited for this to come to the v400 and i must say itsnot worth paying 9.99 a month unless you're going to listen to the news or the sports channels. The audio sounds bad (like a voice record). But i wanted to know if theres an app that just streams music.
