T-Mobo in San Francisco & 3000 Minute Local Plan

Hey there... I have a friend in SF who currently has ATT&W and she is VERY unhappy with it. It looks like she's probably going to go with Verizon (which I have and love) but I've also heard the following things

- T-Mobile has very good coverage in SF. Yay or nay?

- T-Mobile has a really great local plan, 3000 Anytime minutes for $49.99... sounds pretty unbeatable. Any catches or weird things about this?

She's probably still going to go with Verizon (ATTW has scarred her for life when it comes to going with less than premium service), but if anyone has any info on T-Mobo's coverage in SF or whether that Local 3000 min plan is really as good as it sounds, I'll try to pass it along. After all, for all I know T-Mobo really is all that a...

Prepaid

I know T-Mobile, as a company, doesn't offer much in the way of support to prepaid customers. However, I have a prepaid acct that I have had for probably 6 years (started w/ Powertel, taken over by Voicestream, then to T-Mobile) along with my post paid acct. I'm considering dropping my post paid acct for another prepaid. However, I wonder... will I be able to activate another line on my current prepaid acct so that I can get the airtime deals on a new line that my old line enjoys?

T-Mobile & Cingular in Northern California...

Hey All!
Need your help here. I will be switching to GSM by May of next year when my Verizon contract expires to be more "global". Want to get a Cingular or T-Mobile phone in December or January and use the winner side by side with Verizon to see which works better. If there are any user's or rep's out there who can share personal experiences of which they think is better in Northern & Southern California, I would appreciate any assistance.
1. Are the network's separated now...is Cingular on AT&T's GSM network and is T-Mobile on Cingular's. Also does Cingular run on 850 along with 1900 in California.
2. Need feedback on dropped calls, call quality, etc. I have looked at survey's, but looking for actual user's experiences.
3. For pho...

T-zones vs mMode

I am currently an AT&T customer and subscribe to their mMode data plan. My contract is up and I'm thinking about making the jump to T-Mobile because of the better rates (especially in the data area). How comparable are T-zones and mMode? For instance, I can access regular sites (Like Google) on my Nokia 3650 with mMode. Can I do the same with T-zones, or does it restrict me to WAP sites only? Thanks for the help! 😁

T-Mobile Coverage Map!

Is it me or has T-Mobile's coverage map expanded within the last two months or so??
I was looking at it earlier today and it seems like there is more coverage in places that there wasn't any. Looks like a lot more green on the map then before. 😲

Coverage issues--what spectrum does T-Mobile use?

I live in Harrisonburg, Virginia--the north-western part of Virginia, and coverage outside is excellent in most areas. However, just riding around to some parts further away from the highway I start getting emergency-only stuff and no signal at all.

Do they use 850 at all? I know my phone--the Samsung e315 only uses the 1900 band in the United States, but I was wondering if T-Mobile uses that range of frequencies at all. And if it would be worth getting a different phone that actually uses that band.

[semi-rant]
Hell SPRINT [cdma] is better in this area, I'm ashamed and I can't believe I wasted this much money.

Is there a chance in hell that T-Mobile will have even marginally as good coverage as Cingular possibly might have? Ev...

Help, Starr... or anybody else who knows

All my corporate contacts at T-Mobile told me that there really isn't any reason why I can't sell a T-Mo To Go kit as a postpaid phone in a pinch. That's what I did today; since I was out of V300's, I sold a couple of prepaid V300 kits on a family plan. The problem is that they both signed up for T-Zones, and when I checked the T-Zones it appeared to be the free To Go portal instead of the regular subscriber one. I told them to give it a couple days and let me know if it doesn't straighten itself out. Does anybody have any advice about this? Might it just take a couple of days for the regular T-Zones to kick in like it sometimes does? Or if not, is there a setting I can change on the phone for them to make it work properly? This seems...

1000 w/ Unlimited Nights & Weekends?

Hey, does anyone have that old promo plan with 1000 Whenever and Unlimited Nights & Weekends? It was only around for about a month or so last year. I'm looking to assume someone's contract if they still have it and want out. Wishful thinking, eh?

Samsung E315

Has anyone purchased the newly available Samsung E315? I demoed it in the T-Mobile store and it looks cool. I have the E715 now. I like the color screen on the outside, but they should have made it have customizable wallpapers like Sanyo does on about all of their dual color camera phones. But, alas, they work with only Sprint.

And, how about the Samsung D415? Looks cool, but the price tag is a lil' rich. Is it worth it?

Coverage in the Pacific Northwest

I know what our map says about our coverage in the area, but I will be moving there at the end of the year, and I was wondering if anyone there currently could give me an opinion.

Dropped Calls

I need to ask some advice real quick. When I sell anyone a phone on any of the carriers that we offer at my company, I tell people that they really shouldn't have more than 2-3 dropped calls a month and that if they have more than that they should contact customer service because there may be a problem with thier phone or may be some kind of network issue.

I also tell them that is they live in outlying areas that they will drop more calls, thats just the nature of the beast. Also I tell them that while they are traveling between cities that they are more likely to drop a call vs being in an urban area with multiple towers.

My question is: Is 2-3 dropped calls a month a fair estimate? Should I tell them that they may experience more...

Coming Soon?

I feel like this question is always asked, but do any of you in TMO land have an idea of new phones coming out? I know they just phased in many, I like Samsung, but want something a little more than the E315. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. 🙂
