Motorola V600

I figured out a problem-for phone numbers in my own area code I did not enter an area code in their phonebook entry as it seemed superfluous. When a phone call came in from my own area code, the phone would not recognize the phone number as being listed in a category in my phonebook, so the default color would kick in rather than the category color (it also would not show these callers' names unless I included our common area code).
I couldn't find anything in the manual that explains this, but the bottom line seems to be that even though you don't need to manually dial the area code to call someone in your own area code, you do need to enter the area code
in the directory if you want to take advantage of the distinctive lights feature as...

Hi, I just got my v600 today from AT&T. I have a couple of questions:

1) What is the black circle on the back of the unit situated just below the antenna?

2) I'm concerned that the back cover is not seated correctly (perfectly) on the unit. Is this a problem or are all the phones like this? Specifically:
A) The cut out in the back cover for the black circle is a hair off center -- just enough for dirt to accumulate.
B) The back cover isn't seated flush with the right side of the unit (the side with the single voice-record button). In particular, the back cover is seated more flush with the left side of the unit (the side with the two buttons).

I may have the first AT&T Wireless V600 casualty 👿 I just got my phone yesterday. It worked great last night. But today, when I left my Condo, I couldn't make any calls. The minute I got out the door, the phone went into emergency use only mode. Luckily they I had my old V60 from Verizon, so I called ATT customer care. The lady told me that it hadn't been 24 hours since my activation...so I'd have to wait until after 5pm to see what the problem was. So after five I went for a drive and made a few calls. The first ones were fine...but after that all my calls failed. I got a full signal strength bar...but no gprs packet symbol. I then turned the power off and turned it back on. Still nothing. Hey everyone I'm kinda new to this so help me out here. This is the problem I have and hopefully one of you phone buff's will know what I should do:

I have a contract with verizon wireless that isn't going to end until next year. I had a motorola T720 for a while but I lost it back in November and have been stuck without a phone for a while now. After seeing this V600 I've decided that this is the phone I would really like to get. Problem is verizon won't be getting it and I know they'll get some other version of it later on but I'm somewhat dissatisfied with verizon's service lately. I work for Mot and requested information about when the V600 w/o contract would be available for puchase through our company discount page. Although I didn't ask for it, in the reply I received, the CS rep stated that they are targetting April 26th for the release of the V600 on T-Mobile. I personally don't care about this, but I figured some of you may. The email specifically states that dates are subject to change, but I was surprised to see a release date for another carrier so soon (only 1 month after AT&T's). I don't want to start any hoop-la for all of you T-Mobile people, but it looks like you may be getting the phone sooner than you thought.

Anyone know how to do this? I have both the cable and the phone tools software. I want to download MP3's from my computer as ringtones.

I’m sure there are many people out there who were anticipating joining ATT and then stopped to think if they should after the merger with Cingular. After all joining a wireless carrier that was bought by another gives you a false sense of security. The solution if one were concerned over such matters is to simply join the buyer in this case Cingular. However what if Cingular does not have the phone you want and ATT does. What if you had to wait months for Cingular to get the phone you like. The phone in question is the v600 which is now exclusively available though ATT.

Should you wait or should you not? What happens to your plan service and branded phone when both company’s merge and ATT in its current form ceases to exist? What happens...

Hey everybody I was wondering if the V600 comes with a holster. If it doesn't, does anyone know where I could get one? Or does it fit another Motorola phone holster?

every time a company gets a model phone the other companies should usually receive it 3 months after meaning The v600 will be released for T-Mobile and Cingular around JULY

They always give the first carrier three months to have the product exclusive for there company. Tmobile will sell the v600 unlocked with a free BT headset

Interesting info for you all...dunno if it'll help. I walked into the T-Mobile store near my area (Lincolnwood Town Center - 3333 W Touhy in Chicago, IL). Anyways I was talking to a rep inside and he happened to see my v600 hanging out of my pocket. To make a long story short, The rep offered to unlock my AT&T phone if I renewed my T-Mobile contract (which expired in mid-March). I did so and he took my phone and brought it to his computer up front and within 5 minutes, he unlocked my phone for me. The reps name was Gordon. Now I gotta decide what to do with my AT&T contract...
