LG VX-7000

Hi All,

I just got my VX7000 yesterday and I've never had a phone with so many features. I actually lurked on this forum for a while to make the best purchasing choice. I was deciding between the Samsung A670, the VX7000, and learning about the Moto v710. I'm glad I picked up the 7000.

I am a newbie so I've got a few basic questions. I know everyone has been using the software to update their contact lists. I called Verizon at their 866 number as well as a few retailers but all have said that the office package for the 7000 won't be ready for another 2 weeks. What are you guys using right now?

Also, I'm thinking about buying a USB cable from ebay. It comes with some sort of driver install but I'm not sure what apps it has.

ok. my 7000 seems to work just fine, but i have a question about the lense. if you look at the location of the lens eye within the swivel, it is a tiny bit to the left of center. any idea why lg did this? if it's just mine, i'm sure it's within normal specs but im just wondering why they did it...

Isn't this absurd. I e-mailed them and was told that if I wanted to order it through the website, it would be set with a phone nimber and I would have to submit a request to get that number chaqnged to the number I want to port. How stupid is that?

This is driving me nuts. After reading all the specs on each of these phones, I am so confused.

If I have the following things correct,

Weight: V710 is the heaviest.

Size: The 7000 is the smallest out of the three.

Battery life: The 8000 has the poorest standby time.

Display: all pretty close.

Bluetooth & Expansion card: V710 only.

Speaker phone: 8000 & V710

Analog: V710 only.

I would really like a speaker on my phone but I don't have one now. Big deal? Not sure.

Really like to have analog as well.

Don't care about Bluetooth or Expansion card at all at this time.

Like the idea of the Moto with Analog but have heard some very bad things about Motorola

So unless anyone here can give me a good reason not ...

I know someone asked this question a while ago, but i couldn't find the answer...
Is there any way to change the color of the red banners on both the front LCD and the main LCD?
Another question, is there any way to lock the phone so you can't dial out when roaming charges apply? My old LG did this, but i couldn't find out how to do it on the 7000.

IM PROBABLY GETTING THE V710. WHEN I SAW THE PRICE, I FIGURED THAT IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. I DIDNT KNOW THAT IT HAD A MP3 PLAYER AND A 1.2 MEGAPIXEL CAMERA AND I SAW A VIDEO OF IT AND THE PHONE LOOKED AWESOME.

THERE STILL IS A GOOD CHANCE THAT IM GETTING THE LG VX7000

Is it possible to change the faceplate?

I have a feeling the V710 isn't going to come out in 4 days so I'm going to be stuck with this phone which I am happy with except for the blinking lights. Is there any site that explains how to take apart the housing, and get at those lights so I can possibly take them out? Maybe I'm just crazy in thinking this is possible, but hopefully its possible. Thanks

Im pretty sure that you can download backgrounds for the front and main LCD. Does anybody know if there are any military backgrounds with jet fighters and tanks and battleships and stuff? 😉

I dont have the phone yet but im so obsessed with it that i go by the store and play with it time to time. I just cant figure out how to make a video. You go to the camera option and u can take a picture, but wut button(s) do you have to press/hold/whatever to make it record a 15 second film?

Yahoo has a group for the VX7000, if you join the group you can download MP3 ring tones with VOCALS....other people in the group upload the ringer to the group so other people in the group can download them..i found 2 hotttt ones already..theres only 11 files uploaded so far but if we get everyone to join it we can share files....its very easy to upload ringers to the group...i uploaded the NELLY ringer...GO AND REGISTER....

how come no matter what size picture i send to my phone through vzwpix.com they are always extremely compressed? I want my 640x480 jpeg to be 640x480 on my phone, but it changes to 120x90. Is there a way around this?

I am hoping that somebody can help me regarding software/connectivity for the VX7000.

I maintain a large number of contacts and so I really need to be able to manipulate my contacts via my computer. I would like to buy the VX7000 but find that there is a distinct lack of information regarding software.

Can anybody please point me in the right direction.

Here's a little tip. If you do the trick where you rename a MP3 with a Mid extention, it will play but not all the time, especially through any speakerphone attachments. Heres why:

The VX7000 and VX8000 have the same base software. The VX8000 being an MP3 player, the VX7000 has that same capability, which is why the files will play. They must block out MP3 playback through the ports to prevent people from using the phone as an MP3 Player. I made a Pearl Jam ringer w/ the method above. It works when its on my hip but when plugged into the HF Car kit, it won't ring. FYI

i tried uploading a picture that i want to use as a picture id for someone, but when it shows up it is obvious that it's dimensions aren't right... does anyone know what the correct dimensions are that i should make pictures that i want to upload to the 7000 for picture id's/wallpapers?

I know this subject has probably been hashed to death. But here it goes anyways.

It is time for a new phone. I have been using the Samsung A310 for quite awhile now. Like the phone, good reception and works well as a phone. But I am the typical man that likes new things and gadgets.

So off to the Verizon store I go. Have it narrowed down to two phones. Yea here it comes.

The Sammy A670 or the LG VX7000.

Handled both phones for quite awhile. I like them both. The A670 is smaller, but the screen is not as nice. The LG is larger but the screen is awesome! But it is reception and battery life the mean the most to me at this stage of the game.

My little A310 is a tri-mode phone and I am able to talk in places my buddy’s can’...

I have this phone but was wondering about the get it now. If an app says $5 unlimited does that mean $5 per month or a one time fee of $5 for unlimited use for the whole time you have the phone?

Is it possible to set the locking arrangement such that the phone locks on "power up" while also allowing you to unlock and lock the phone while it is in "standby" (without having to shut the phone down). If so, how is this done?
