Motorola V710

Hi--I have noticed that sometimes when I open my V710 phone the banner says "VERIZON WIRELESS" and then it will switch to my name (which I entered in the settings)

Yet other times it just has my name (I don't think it switches to "Verizon Wireless")

Does anyone know why the phone does this?

I have a V710 from Radio Shack. I got it the Saturday before the "official" launch.

The first one I got, I had to return because the camera was bad. The second one is OK. I have faced all the trials you have. My screen would be scratched, but I had already installed plastic screen savers like on my PDA, the ear piece volume is tool low, etc, etc.

Yes, I still love the phone.

I purchased the V710 to take pictures for a National Convention of Garden Trains and it worked OK, for shooting pictures, sending to a pop box and having the file extracted and sent to a web page, all in real time. Pictures were not what I expected for sharpness. Motorola is going to let me know what they think of the quality of the pictures I took. (Details...

Just got an email from Motorola. They say that the screen scratch from the keypad problem isn't a known design issue....

I'm on my second V710. The first had a software problem. Both have scratches obove the camera lense. I'm pretty sure it is due to when the phone is open if there is any debris or dust that can scratch the weak shell cover, it gets ground in between the cover and the rubber that stops the phone when it is open.

The material is very weak and scratches easy.

Also, the camera taks blury photo's. Anyone have ideas on how to make them more clear. I realize it is a phone first, but my friend's 1/3 megapixel Nokia takes sharper picuters.

Does anyone know what VZW, or Moto, is going to do about the crooked lens on the V710? It's not that big of a deal but, after the long wait and the hefty price...........shouldn't the damn thing take a straight picture??? Am I nuts? Is this to much to ask for?

So tonight i went to the mall and went to the verizon wireless store, and talked to customer service, telling them about the scratches above the camera and the moving keypad..they said come back in 45 minutes, and had a brandnew v710 waiting for me, with my phonebook transfered over 🙂

Only bad thing is that my pictures, applications, and downloaded ringtones were gone.

Anybody know if there is a way to transfer pictures from transflash card while it is still in the phone via usb cable using mobile tool.

The transflash card is so small and delicate who knows how long that pop-up mechanism in the phone and little rubber cover is going to last if you constantly are removing the card to transfer stuff back and forth.

I'd prefer to leave the card in the phone and transfer via cable if at all possible.

I have a Lexus LX470 (well, my boss does anyways) and I have paired the phone with the truck but I can't transfer over the phone book from the phone to the truck. Is this because of the lack of OBEX capabilities or am I missing something? this is quite a problem because it basically prevents you from calling out while driving.

i met some guy at the mall (in passing) who was using an ipaq with his v710 so I had to ask him "how it works". Well the guy didn't want to say much except that he bought "the last real ipaq from best buy....you can no longer get them....blah blah" but i noticed he was surfing the web with his ipaq.

this is something i would like to do as i am looking into PPCs but i have heard various rumors stating that you must purchase a data plan to be able to surf!? I don't get this. Is VZW looking to see what data transfers are happening on your acct?

I am following the instruction on how to shorten a song using itunes for use as a ringtone. The problem that I am having is that the songs that I am buying on Itunes are coming in as a MPEG-4 Audio File (Protected). The Itunes program won't let me "convert to MP3" after I adjust the start and stop times. Any ideas?

Anyone know if the V710 can or will ever support "Reoccuring" meetings in Outlook when you sync using MPT? Meetings that occur one time transfer fine but when any that are set to reoccur forever wont transfer and an error occurs. The error is that the phone doesnt support this type of event.

Just curious... on average, how long does everyone's battery last after a full charge. I think I have a problem with mine b/c after a full charge I'm only able to use the phone for about 2 hours before it completely dies out. Is anyone else experiencing this. I just got the phone about 4 days ago. The V710 battery power sucks compared to that of my LG4400. What do u all think?

I've been reading about loading ringtones onto my v710 here and would like to ask 2 questions:

1. why you need to change file extensions from .mp3 to .mid when loading a file on the phone, since they are completely different file types, to my knowledge, .mp3 is an audio file and .mid is a data file used to generate sound through a midi sound set

2. I'd like to find out info on the midi capabilities of this phone and also the requirements and restrictions to the GM sound set when creating a MIDI ringtone for it. Also, what needs to be done in order to load MIDI ringtones onto the phone.

Finally, can anyone point me to a link for more technical info on the v710's MIDI and MP3 features?

First of all, apologies if this is a repeat question. Tried searching through the forum for answers but no advanced search capabilities here.

I have encountered subject issue intermittently. Has anyone else? Here's the sequence of events.

1 - Phone is already on and in standby.
2 - I receive a call. Answer by opening cover.
3 - Realize this is going to be a long call.. decide to switch to Bluetooth headset IN CALL.
4 - Power on bluetooth headset (Moto HS820).
5 - Activate bluetooth on phone during call (using menu feature.. "Use Bluetooth").
6 - When it works, the call transfers to the headset no problem.
