Hey, got my 128mb card from shopperwiz.com last night, but didn't realize it would not work in my compact flash reader. Need to swing by the store and get an SD reader today.
Anybody know who it as that had them for $2 or something after rebate and if that is still happening?

PDA capabilities?
Does the 710 have PDA/planner/calendar capabilities (e.g., via MS Outlook or the like)? I was orginally under the impression that this was a smartphone.

Less Than 50QTY At Chumbo.com(TRANSLASH 128MB)
I just purchased the transflash memory card from Chumbo.com. 37.99 Total(includes 2-day fedex). Just wanted to let everyone know the sales rep told me they had only 50 left in stock. Apparently people have being buying them in bulk, ex: He told me someone bought 20 off him the other day. Still havent heard anything from Amazon so I canceled with them and went where elsewhere.

Issues with RS V710
This is my first post so I appreciate advice. On Friday, July 30, I purchased a V710, HS820 headset from Radio Shack and mobile phone tools 2.0 from a Motorola dealer.
The headset linked with the phone w/o any problems. I cannot however send or receive a photo image. The local Verizon store agent thinks its the software. Initially, she found a block on my account and removed it but it still would not work.
The other issue is phone tools will not recognize the V710. I called Motorola on this and they tell me the RS sold V710 has software issues that will be solved in future releases.
I also want to point out the schmuck employee at the VZW store in Short Hills, NJ who should be fired for his lack of customer service skills. Aft...

Anyone hearing Monday as a possibility?
I know it has been wide spread that the 11th is the official launch date. It is not uncommon for regions to start earlier. I am in the NE - Philadelphia Region. I just called some stores, and before I never got a clear response. Today, I am getting most likely next week -- "call us Monday."

Well...
as usual... all the posts by the prognosticators claiming that the phone would be sold today by VZW retail was just another steaming pile of meadow muffins! 😳

Punching a gift horse in the mouth
I defend Motorola's right to engage in promotions, givaways, advertising, and any other methods (legal, of course) which helps them sell their products. The handset market is brutally competitive and anything they can do to increase their market share is a good thing. I believe in Motorola's products (except the 270c, a major letdown). The promotion was a great way to draw the average (i.e., non-technophile) customer in to buy the phone. I suspect it also took advantage of viral marketing (such as this forum) to create even more interest. However, if VZW and Motorola were even remotely clued in on their consumer bases, both would have realized that a bluetooth CDMA phone has been long anticipated by both technophiles and business users no...

Advice to New Readers...
Holy shiznit.
I have never seen so many contradicting statements, reversals of position, hearsay=fact, opinion=fact in my life.
New readers would do VERY well to not take things that are said out here too far to heart. For every factual post, there are probably an equal number of contradicting posts.
Hell - doing a quick informal survey of Radio Shacks, Verizon stores, and VZW customer service, I can't even get straight answers on most of my questions between those three outfits. While I do know that many of the answers out here have been corroborated and seem to be proper, there are so many others which are not. Aside from those sparse examples, how can we be sure about anything out here considering that VZW, VZW CS, and RS cannot...

VZW just credited my acct
I purchased my V710 at Radio Shack on the 30th. I was eligible for NE2, but they aren't a part of that. Even though we called Verizon, they said unless I purchased the phone at a VZW store, they couldn't give me the $100 off. After reading on phonescoop how some people were able to get the $100 and all from VZW, I just called VZW and got $50 credited back to my acct after mentioning phonescoop and my annoyance. It's not the full $100, but it's better than nothing, so I'll take it!! Maybe some others can do the same....

Correction - V710 will be released tomorrow 8/6/04
Guys - this really isn't that hard to believe.
I saw the phones in boxes in the back with my own eyes. I played with one for an hour. The phone is by far better than the LG VX7000.
They are selling the V710 starting tomorrow Friday 8/6
They are saving me one and I am getting it tomorrow. So are a couple other customers who I sold on the getting the phone.

Software Upgrade RS V710
I hear that the V710s that are coming from Verizon have a software upgrade from the models that came from Radio Shack (TRUE)?
When can I go and get this software upgrade?
Will it allow me to do file transfers via bluetooth?

V710 Issues
Anyone who says the camera doesnt suck is lying to themselves. i bought the phone yesturday and am very dissapointed with it. the 1.2 mega pixels is either a lie or a screwup. i didn't buy the phone for that reason, but if its on the phone i EXPECT it to work. inside pics suck, the camcorder is terrible and the bluetooth is pretty limited. ive heard some people say the purpose of a phone is to talk not take pics, well if thats the case there are 200 other phones out there that u can buy for $5 on ebay. i want all my features to work if im paying for them. the phone looks cool but if the verizon issued phones on the 11th arent fixed im taking mine back!!
