Motorola V710
Definitely up to expectations
Sorry my review wasn't better. Here is what I have on the phone so far:
-Great camera. Better than any other phone camera I've seen before.
-Bluetooth w/ headset is great. Being able to press a button and say "digit dial 5551212" or "Name dial Jim" and have the phone dial it is AWESOME. No voice training necerssary. You can also just say "voicemail" and have it dial *86 for you.
-Good call quality. I HATED my T730 for the fact the signal strength sucked. This phone definitely makes up for it.
-So far, OK battery life. I am a heavy user (on the road all day) so I will be looking for an extended battery regardless.
-Menus are FAST. You hit a button and the phone does it. Total opposite of the painfully S L O W T730.

no charge on the BT, now or ever
Someone, no names mentioned, said there was a charge for using the bluetooth on the v710.
For the most part 90% of you out there knew already that was BS, for anyone who still has a doubt, let me say this.
The use of bluetooth, occurs from the phone to whatever bluetooth device is used, verizon, at&t, cingular, nextel, tmobile, no vendor, no manufacturer, now will ever attempt to charge for this feature which occurs at the hardware level, from the handset to the bluetooth device. Anyone who would post otherwise simply needs to have my size 13 firmly inserted into there hieney.
And please dont come back with "ohh they charge for the pics service", this has nothing to do with that.
Thanks all, and for those who already have the v71...

The last 2 times they were willing to give my $10 off the extended battery.
So for those in the know do you have any information to share.
Thanks

BLUETOOTH and OTHER issues...
1) As an owner of a 2004 Lexus LX470 and a recently purchase Motorola V710 I have finally had a chance to see how the two integrate with each other. Overall I am impressed, expect for one major issue...
When receiving an incoming call there are no audible alerts whatsoever. A) On the vehicle, the telephone window pops up on the navigation screen, detailing caller information and allows the driver to accept or decline the call. There is however, NO audible alert or ring-tone produced by the vehicle. B) When locked into bluetooth mode, the V710 goes absolutely silent. NO keypad OR ring tones. This has been a problem particularly when standing outside of my vehicle (within bluetooth range - while the vehicle is turned on). Whe...

Is this the first v710 to compleatly die?
Insurance
I purchased the V710 at RadioShack. I asked for the insurance. I went to the VZW store next door to make sure it was added. He said no but that he could add it if I had the receipt. I showed him the receipt and he was about to add it and a coworker stopped him and told him that since it was purchased at RadioShack, VZW wont cover it.
I then called 611 and asked them to add it. And they said I was all set.
Who was right?

Screen Blacks Out - S/W Bug?? - PLEASE HELP
1) With the screen saver off, your display will stay on as long as your current "display timeout" setting.
With the screen saver on, your display will only stay on as long as the screen saver delay setting plus the backlight setting.
For example, if your backlight setting is 50s and your screen saver delay is 1 minute, the display shuts off after 1 minute 50 seconds (assuming your display timeout setting is at least 2 minutes). If backlight setting at 50 seconds, screen saver setting at 5 minutes and display setting at 10 minutes, display goes black at 5 minutes 50 seconds.
If so, the screen saver...

Per MOTO FAQ: MPT uses modem comm to sync - (Perhaps bluetooth has a chance)

I've been able to get MPT to get pass the initialization with Bluetooth by manually pairing as a modem and telling MPT to use serial. Be advised it takes a while and I still can't sync but it seems closer
BT Headset Question (Kinda Tricky) For 2 Phones at once
I have the HS810 and it works fabulously with the V710, however I have and use two phones throughout the day.
When I get my e310, I have the DC600 BT adapter and want to use the BT headset with both phones? Does anyone know if this can be done? At least for incoming calls?
I am guessing it probably won't work, but you never know until you try.
Thanks for any feedback anyone can provide.
VZW says 3 months!!!
I have no personal opinion about this, I am just passing it along! I hope he is incorrect.
