Denied!

I was at my local mall yesterday & stopped into the Radio Shack to see if they had any v710s available. Fortunately, there was 1 left and I wanted to pick it up. I was told that I was eligible for upgrade on the 1st of August from where I used to work (Verizon Wireless authorized retailer). So naturally, I thought that I could just upgrade my service plan, then upgrade my phone. Apparently, this is not the case when you try to renew your service plan at Radio Shack. The guy there said that I wasn't available for an upgrade until June 2005. I had then told him about what I was told earlier regarding my service plan upgrade. He had then told me that he couldn't upgrade my plan because they don't get comped for that. What a load of crap!

Any...

Thanks, and External Display Info

Hello;

I want to thank the PhoneScoop community for providing such good information so that I was able to get my v710 at RadioShack on Friday. I am not well and it cheered me up alot. Thanks.

A couple of observations:

1. Earpiece Volume.
Holding the handset so that the earpiece is directly over my ear makes it a lot louder, but I think I'd want to be able to turn it up still more in noisy conditions.

2. External Display.
Looking at the external display closely you see vertical stripes rather than individual pixels as you see on the main screen. The colors are more subdued and not nearly as rich as on the main screen. If the phone is in camera mode and you close the flip the external display takes over as the "viewfinder" for a...

returning V710 and cancelling Verizon account

I have a question about cancelling my Verizon account and returning my V710. When purchasing my V710 at Radio Shack they ported my phone number from my T-Mobile phone. If I return the V710 will I be able to get my number back onto my T-Mobile phone and resume my T-Mobile account.

Thanks

Answer from BVRP on 710 Mobile Phonetools compatibility

Actually not much of an answer at all...

-----------------------
Dear Sir,

A new version of Mobile Phonetools will be available on October.

We do not know yet if it will be compatible with the Motorolla v710.

Best regards

BVRP Software

Message :
Will Mobile Phonetools ever work with the Motorola v710 via bluetooth? Your PDF chart lists USB connectivity only, although the v600 works with both USB and bluetooth. I would like to know whether the software will ever be upgraded to work with the v710 via bluetooth, and if so, when. Thank you!

the good ol' ringtones

Hey can anyone tell me if the v710 has "normal" ringtones? Is there a classic phone ring? Is it loud? obnoxious? discreet? I currently own a (dying) lg 4400 and the ringtones were really (really) poor. I just want to not have to hang my head in shame whenever my phone rings. crazy lg and their crazy ...vd

Attn: Almighty 1

For increasing the volume on the v710, I am having trouble with the P2Kman. When its installing, I don't see the bunch of drivers being installed. When I check on the device manager, these drivers do not show up.

Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Thanks.

New question...BT and charger usage..

Can the 710 be on charge and a call be made via the headset, 810, 820 etc? Would like to know because on N&W would like to set the phone in charger, and use it from across the office with headset. If someone could try this for me I would appreciate it.

Thank you!

RadioShack Warranty

Is the RadioShack warrenty as good as the $4.99 a month warranty from Verizon? I'm thinking even with a NE2 and the $4.99 a month warranty RadioShack is cheaper.

$150 for a v710 with rebate and NE2
add $4.99 a month for 2 year warranty = $119.76 (plus tax I assume)

That's $20 or more cheaper at RadioShack (over 2 years)?

Any disadvantages? Does the RadioShack leave something out or harder to get your phone fixed/replaced?

Thanks all.

MPT with Bluetooth (semi definitive answer :))

Finally got through to someone at VZW support who actually has the 710 😲 According to the support person the OBEX profile is not in our release of the phone software(as other people have said) so MPT will NOT work via BT.

However the support person acknowledged that it is possible that the reason for the VZW delay is that they are going to include OBEX in their release of the phone. If that is the case all we need to do is bring our phones into a VZW store and get it flashed with the latest ROM.

If this is something that is not corrected I will admit that I will be the first one to call in customer support to complain about the implementation of BT in our 710's.

What SD Card Reader/Writer...

...are you people using? I was looking at the one Motorola has:

http://commerce.motorola.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc e3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=253445&prmenbr=126& accessories_cgrfnbr=22&zipcode=&phoneID=&sear ch_string=29,238320,24,238596,26,27,240974,28 ,25&type=260899

$20 seems like a good price to me. Has anyone purchased that one? Is there another one I should get instead? I would appreciate any suggestions or comments

For does who have a SD Card Reader/Writer, do you browse the SD transflash Card like a file system w/ windows explorer?

What reader/writer should I get?

Thanks for your time! Please respond, i want to order a reader/writer by tonight 🙂

P.S. I know I could by any reader/writer, but I'm looking for one th...
