LG VX-8000

Does anyone know how to transfer your own avi or mpeg video files to your phone via email or usb cable? We know now that we can disguise mp3s as midi files but i would like to get some of my own video crap in the phone as well. I have the 8940 and any news from this forum would probably be helpful..

Can anyone please advise if the font size for received text messages is pretty good sized. According to LG this is not adjustable, and I would need reasonably good sized text. Thanks

I have an interesting problem that I haven't seen referenced here yet. When you take a picture on the VX8000 with the flip closed the image is Mirrored. Anyone else seeing this? Is this intentional? Unavoidable?

I upgraded from a vx 4400 to the 8000 and a disappointing part of the phone is that the front display goes completely dark after a few seconds...it stays bright for a few seconds, then dims then goes completely dark. Does anyone know if there is a way to keep it lit (but slightly dimmed) at all times?

Just bought the VX7000 data cable online. I still have to wait a few days to get it, but I wanted to know how to go about using it. I bought the data kit that is offered by Verizon. I have never used one of these before and was wondering just how I go about using it. I have read a lot of the other posts talking about moving things to such and such folders and it all seems really confusing. Any help?

While everyone likes to knock the Moto V710 I have never owned a phone that got a better signal especially in fringe or borderline type areas. My question is simple: Can anyone out there that has used both the V710 and the VX8000 compare the signal strength? I need a second phone and I'm trying to decide between another V710 or the VX8000. The VX8000 sounds cool with all its functions but the number one priority for me is being able to receive calls and not have them dropped, the V710 has been outstanding in that department. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I know that I can with a 7000 can I with this phone. My friend and I sent a ton of songs (with words and 30sec long) to his 7000. All files were a little over 300k.

Can I do this with my 8000?

while it does shoot down to one bar fast, and you begin to worry, DONT!!!!Ive had it on 1 bar for couple days w VCAST etc and its still good w that 1 bar

Anyone else notice this?

I tried making them louder with iTunes but no luck.

How do i get some LOUD midis going on my phone? Does anyone know what the default ones are encoded in, so that we might be able to put them to the same?

Well I finally fixed my out of memory error. It was as easy as re-copying the original sound.dat file back to the \dload directory.

I don't get it ... any time I've ever wanted a new phone before my NE2 or prior to my contract running out, all I've done is signed a new contract and they've given me all the promotional deals available.

Are you guys/gals only paying full retail because you don't want to extend your contract? Or have I just been lucky in getting a flexible sales rep?

Been doing this with a laptop for a couple of years now, first with a LG 4400 then V710 via bluetooth and just got it working on the 8000 (342 Kbps according to Cnet bandwidth meter, not too shabby). It charges against plan airtime and nights and weekends are free. But, I was just lurking over on Howard Forums (do a search on "teather" to find the posts) and it seems there is much confusion over whether Verizon will start billing us teatherers. One guy received a $90 bill for 6 mb of data. There was also a suggestion that it's only being done to those with pda phones who teather to a laptop. Also a suggestion that this was a loophole created when WAP browsing and GIN were introduced but that Verizon is cracking down on it. I see NA add...

I would like to purchase a plastic holster for my phone(vx8000). The only thing I see available is the leather case. I don't care for those 🙄

I heard on the phone you could play MP3's. Hence the buttons on the front of the phone. I even downloaded a tune from verizon, and its just a clip and its a ringtone. GREAT sound...but i want full songs. I tried usin bitpim and putting it in /brew and watever else u have to i got it off a site, and all it does it take up application space, and its still not on the phone or on the front screen when i push play. I called verizon and the guy told me he didnt know wat i was talking about that he guesses i have to download them off their brew stuff. I dont believe him....with all the stuff we have to cheat verizon and put stuff on it there is gotta b a way to put full songs in the "tunes" folder. If anyone could help me it would be greatly apprec...

I know how to send mp3s to my phone for ringtone use, but i thought the 8000 would be able to play and store full mp3s for listening. Isn't that the reason for the outside buttons theoretically? :cry

Ive just got a quick question about the web.

I recently had the 8000, but decided to reactivate my 9900 and wait until something better came out...e815, or maybe the 8100.
So with the $15.00 I'll be saving I decided to put the web on the 9900 for $5.00. My question is what should my homepage be? When I hit the launch web, what is my "default" homepage url supposed to be. I changed it to google.com because I was just getting a ad whenever I launched up. And whats with the web anyway, it seems Freakin Useless. I cant fully read or even get into a lot of sites...the nyc mta train, weather sites.... They either dont prompt properly or they can hardly be read. Is that normal?

Does anyone know how to fix the out of memory error when trying to record a voice memo after copying files to the phone? I checked at there is more then enough memory but it says there is none. Kinda frustrating. 👿

I've had the vx6100 for a couple of days now and it seems fine. I have not lost any calls and camera seems adequate. the speaker phone is a little tinny.
So I was thinking of getting the vx8000 instead but just don't know if it is worth it any advise?
