LG VX-8000

i'm thinking of switching from cingular to Verizon. i was looking at the vx-8000 and the vx-6100.....

I travel all over the U.S. and need a phone that's going to work even when i'm in small rustic areas like mississippi....

will the 8000 work everywhere or would the 6100 be better?????

I just came back from the verizon store. When I asked them if there is a data cable and software program so i could back up my contacts, like i have had on all my other phones they said NO! None of the three new EVDO phone will allow this. This is there is no way to back up your contacts and no way to use the phone as a modem! I have over 300 contacts and if i can't back up my phone for get it. Verizon sucks! Verizon has a service that you have to pay for every month to back up your contacts over the their get it now network. It costs, I think 4$ a month. Crooks.
If I am wrong please corect me, because i really want one of these new phones.

I am wondering if there are any vx8000 users that were previously using trimode phones. I had the Moto V60i which had outstanding coverage (e.g. able to get a slight analog signal in Yosemite). I am concerned that having an all digital phone may reduce the coverage substantially, but I am not sure. It was seldom that my V60i was in analog mode, but I am still curious. Is there really an advantage for having a trimode phone anymore (except for the few areas that you can only obtain an analog signal)???? Thank you for your feedback.

I want to free up some space in my memory for more ringtones. Is there any way to delete pre-existing ringtones?

i have a question about selling the phone in the future. I am not going to sell the phone any time soon, but I might want to when a new phone comes out maybe. If i wanted to put the phone on Ebay, how would i go about doing this and explaining it to verizon. I have already sent in my $70.00 rebate with the UPC. does this make any difference? can the person I sell the phone to still use the phone without the UPC sticker on the box?
also, if i wanted to sell the phone soon, would I be able to sell it and get another phone at the 2 year agreement price if it was before the 30 days or would I have to pay the full retail price? thanks for your help.

I locked my phone (holding down the # button), just to see how much security it gave me. Turned the phone off and on, locked mode was still there, which is good. I looked in the manual for the factory default unlock code (0000), but it didn't work..? I did 1234 and every other no-brainer combination there is, but nothing worked. I'm 100% positive that I never set the code myself. Maybe one of the reps at the VZW store changed it while he was setting up the phone for me, but at the moment it's 3 in the morning and I really need to use my phone, so I can't get to the store for whoever it was to change it back.

Is there any way at all to reset it somehow without going back to the store? This really made me mad. >:\

when i send myself a ringtone it says unsupported contet type audio/midi. how do it get it to work. i can get the walmart ones to work fine but when i try to put songs i downloaded on it doesnt work.

I have a few questions about the MP3 player.

1. Can the phone do like a playlist and play theh MP3 thru the speaker? The Nokia 6260 can do that...

2. What player does it use for the MP3s.

3. About the 1.3 mega pixel is it as clear a digital cam with the same mega pixels because my cam is a 1.3 mega pixel.

I know its just a phone but since it has all those feature I just want to know if its true and your getting what you paid for...

well i followed all of the instructions in the data cable tips and tricks thread, and i just uploaded my 1st mp3 to my phone to be used as a ring tone, i must say damn the quality of those tiny speakers amazes me. anyway thanks to all for putting in the time and effort to learn this phone inside and out. Hi. I am new to the phonescoop forums.

Can someone plz tell me which games r the best? i rly want to get a good game but i dont no which ones are good. the info that they provide do not give you enough info on the game.

The quality on my camera is very poor compared to the vx7000 and I have replaced it two times.
The motion when you move around the camera is very slow and it doesn't capture the picture instantly.
The quality on the video is snowy and very poor. If anyone is having any of these problems please let me know. Also Verizon told me that they should come out with patch or a phone update within a month that might take care of the quality on the camera and the snowy picture on the video. How accurate is this information?

I noticed some of you have remarked on the camera showing motion to much for live subjects. I noticed this to and it did bother me, it does do it more then the 7000. But if you go into the ISO setting and change it from automatic to ISO 800 it helps with this matter, it gives you a faster shutter speed so less motion is shown. The thing is, is that 800 is a bit grainy. So even 400 is beter then there automatic setting. Try it.

The Verizon web site doesn't present the PDA/data plan as an option when I select this phone.

I'd like to use the phone as a modem, although there are conflicting opinions as to whether or not Verizon will allow this, and whether or not it will work.

I understand that the Samsung 6600 works as an EV-DO modem, so I hope this phone would work as well.

It also appears that I'd have to use a cable, since the bluetooth is crippled for modem use.

I'm not planning on setting up a 24 hour link, running streaming video, or any of that other bandwidth hog stuff that Verizon doesn't want you to do (which is understandable). I just want to be able to do a little web surfing and read my email.

haven't picked the phone up yet, but from all the posts looks like a good buy. Question, anyone live on Long Island who has this phone, and do you get the V-CAST. On the verizon website it just says the city gets it 😕

everyone says use the data cable and hack the phone basically and use QPST...why would verizon want you to do that, where did the person who started the whole thing on how to do it, get his information from. You would think verizon would just have a software to put mp3's on the phone....weird.....

I bought the USB cable marketed for the 7K and have used it to use the 8K as a modem on the Mac. Getting speeds of 550K--awesome!

So the USB cable does work, but does anyone know how to get my contacts from Entourage (2004) into the phone? What software should I use?

All of the mp3 > midi tones i've sent to my phone are really not as audible as I would like them to be.

How are everyone else's? Know of a way to pump up the volume?

Just ordered a 8000 and i was just wondering how good the headset is that came with the phone? Can you hear people; can they hear you? Or dose it suck?

Does the LG8000 have a voice recorder? Do you know how to use it?
