LG VX-8000

I am debating on wheather to get the 8000...but first of all, is there an mp3 player that will play full songs... and how is the sound quality...can you put normal headphones on to hear the songs?

This was using the 8000 as a modem connected to my laptop (powerbook g4) by a usb cord.

Is there any way to get games onto your phone using a cable for free?

If not, which games do you recommend buying?

Just got my 8k yesterday and have been playing with it. LOVE THIS PHONE!!! It's really "high tech" compared to my last phone (V60). I have a couple of questions that need answering please.

1) When a friend calls me they say that instead of the standard phone "ring" they hear music. How do I change the song or get the standard ring tone? I asked VZW but the assistant thought I was talking about the caller ID personalized ringtone. I already know how to set that up. Help!!! My friends hate the music. (Muzak just isn't Metal).

2) How do I get that V Cast thing? I've gotten on the web to check out scores and stuff but not the V Cast. I saw a broadcast on the phone in the store, but the manual doesn't have instructions on how to...

There seems to be a problem when you send yourself ringtones via itunes midi file. the phone will play them as ringtones, but once you plug in the car kit, the phone just flashes the status light and screen, no sounds. If you change the ringer to one that came with the phone, no problem. Is there any adjustment on the settings in itunes to correct this issue? Or is it just what you have to put up with for getting free ringers?

I've just gotten to borrow the phone for a couple days as a test trial through work...and so far I am seriously impressed. I'll admit that I am not all that impressed with the menu system yet, but it has grown on me during the last couple days.

One of the things that impressed me a lot, was the pictures in low light conditions. I took a picture last night in a completely pitch black room. I put the flash on and night mode and snapped a picture, and I could actually see everything on my dresser. Must admit my old samsung doesn't compare to that.

The phone also feels solid in my hand, I LOVE the size of it. (I mean, I am currently using the a610 with extended battery, so I tend to like bigger)

I live in Manhattan but happened to be at a Verizon store on Rt 4 NJ, and found they had the phones.

The salesman told me accesories were included in the price of the phone.
I guess I was so excited they had an 8000 in stock I didn't look at this deal closer.

8000 .... $170 (after new every 2 $100 rebate)

What deals are other people getting?

i traded in my 8000 for the 7000. My reason for this was that the fone was just way to big for my liking. I have it in my pant pocket all the time and it was very uncomfortable (mostly width wise). Also i was already getting over the vcast. Its one of those things that is really fun at first then gets old. The 7000 has pretty much everything the 8000 has except speakerfone (the only feature i woulda like to have had) vcast (not that great after a few days) and mp3 (i have an ipod). Overall i saved 70 bucks and get a smaller fone and all i lost was speakerfone.

I am not sure if anyone has found this out yet, but when you add the mp3 files as midi and use them as ringtones there seems to be a problem. If you try and use the handsfree car kit, it will not play any sound on those ringtones for incoming calls. It did not make any sense to me, when I changed the ringtone to one of the standard ones that came with the 8000, it rang as it should. I have assigned many ringtones to friends and family already, what's the deal? Software issue? Car kit issue? any help? any fix?

Where can i find QPST? I'm new to this so anyhelp would be great. Also what does QPST stand for?

Anyone who has access to the EV-DO network on their phone and has V-cast try a test for me,first turn the phone off(to reset it)then back on,go to camera mode,hit options ,then resolution,set it to 1280x960,then go to file quallity,set it to fine,now take a picture, you should be able to save it.Now(bare w/me almost done)go to the V-CAST section and download a video(anyone will do)play the video through then go back to the camera.Make sure the settings are the same as before and take a picture,the screen should go black,then back to the previous mode,not allowing you to save the picture.I think the problem may be w/the phone not being able to get rid of all the memory from the video,hence resetting it.Tried it w/ 2 other phones, did the same...

This is my 5th LG phone and clearly the best.

Ok if you decide not to pay the $15/month, but to pay just the $4.99 for the web is this web at EVDO spead or just the 1xrt speed it used to be. As I said I live in brooklyn, ny and have not noticed the difference in speed using the mobileweb with evdo as opposed to how it was before. How about everyone else?

Also do use the EVDO as a modem is it required to pay the $15/month?

i read all of the instructions and followed them perfectly for converting songs and sending them to vzwpix, but when i send the email to my phone i dont receive anything. no error message, no nothing. i contacted the verizon people but they didnt know what was wrong and told me that there was something wrong with my email provider, even tho i tried 2 completely different ones. somebody please help me out here....thanks a bunch

How Do you get songs into the tunes part of the phone. i have the data cable, and im willing to buy, what do i need to do

Can anyone advise if the 8000 has the same "driving Mode" featurea as the LG 4500?

I purchased the LG VX8000 and have noticed that the signal strength is less than my last phone the MOT V60. I called Verizon and they said that the trimod reception for the V60 is in more locations therefore offers stronger signal strength than the digital signal of the VX8000. Has anyone had signal strength problems? I live in Chicago.

-Get any mp3 song.
-open with iTunes.
-click on "Edit"
-go to "Preferences"
-select the "Importing" tab
-under "Import Using:", select "MP3 Encoder"
-under "Setting" go to "Custom"
Now I usually select a 64kbps stereo bit rate (and leave the rest the same),
but you can experiment here with the sound quality etc.
-hit "OK", then "OK"
-now right-click the song that you want in iTunes
and select "Get Info"
-Go to the "Options" tab
-Now at the bottom it has the Start and Stop times
This is where you select the portion of the song that you want.
I think the max ringtone is like 30 seconds. make sure to check both boxes.
(Sometimes I increase the volume adjustment as well to make it louder)
