Internet Connection

OK, single request and I have just 12 days to decide: Can I A) Buy a USB cable, B) Use my laptop and LG VX8000 to dial into my ISP (not Verizon), and C) Surf the Internet using my Verizon voice minutes?
Cable price and source?
Any PC software necessary or recommended?
Any Verizon program recommended or required?

I have tried and tried to get an answer from Verizon and get a different answer every time I ask! Thanks

Thanks Again Walmart

Getting ringtones from Walmart works GREAT! Just download them and change .mp3 to .mid and email to the 8000 as an attachment.

Free free free! 🙂

Attention all cell phone makers. Get RID of the *%$#@* *$%# buttons on the side of your phones. I HATE them. The 8000 has buttons all the way up and down the side. Unacceptable.

Data cable for 8000

Did some research and found out the cable for the 6100 and 7000 are the same and work for the 8000. You can get it on line at www.tangshop.com $14.95 it has charger built into it so it charges phone while hooked to pc. I bought one for my 6000 from them and had no problems and the price is great.

My experience with the 8000 and Audiovox 8940

Picked up the LG 8000 on release day (upgraded from LG 6000) and loved everything about the phone except for its size. I use a holster and it felt like I had a brick on my belt. After about a week I decided that it was too big a phone for my tastes and returned it for the Audiovox 8940. I had wanted a speakerphone so I went with the 8940 over the Samsung 890. The 8940 speakerphone is such a piece of crap that they should have left it off as a feature. The calls sounded tinny and the front LCD had 3 choices of wallpaper that were embarrasing. The vibrate was so soft that I was missing calls with the phone in my pocket. Everything about the phone seemed cheap and a step backwards from my LG 6000. After 3 days I found a retail store that carrie...

Ambient noise worsens 8000 already bad earpiece volume!

Oh yeah, The 8000's clear button is off to the left which makes it impossible to use. You have to move your thumb off axis which is terrible..

Oh yeah again, The antenna on the 8000 is giant. When it pulls out it looks like a cell tower antenna and it shakes back and forth when you drive.

And now for the best - The 8000's earpiece voice quality is worse than we thought. We spent 4 hours testing the Earpiece quality today on all the phones. The Samsung still has the best voice quality there is. The 8000 is near impossible to interpret what people are sayign when you driving at 60mph. The road noise is amplified some how in the earpiece and makes it really bad, The samsung is perfect!

No Sidetone on my phone.

After many months of lurking on this forum, I just picked the phone today. Although so far I am impressed- there seems to be no side tone; meaning you don't hear yourself in the phone when speaking.

My moto phones always seems to have some sidetone. What is the case with LG?

A friend I called mentioned I was speaking allot louder than normal, and I found myself speaking louder than on my previous phone the moto V60i.

Any comments?

Greetings,

Been lurk'n here for a month or so and all the great posts helped me decide to jump on board. I received my new 8000 via FedEx Thursday. From my receipt, Retail price $389.99; 2 year agreement price, $269.99; My corporate discount price, $139.99; After my new every 2, I paid $39.99 for the 8000.

My area does not have EVDO service yet, but I do want Mobile Web. Have any non-Vcast people had any success getting WAP working?

Here is what I have done:
Entered service memu on the 8000
Changed the pri and sec, IP and Port to those listed at http://www.waptunnel.com
I set the Normal and LXL ports the same.
Changed homepage to http://wap.google.com
Opened my Openwave browsed in the GIN memu option # 4
