Hotmail access

I just picked up the E815 coming from the Samsung a670. I'm trying to find out if there is a way to quickly access my hotmail (@msn.com) account on this phone.
Each time I go into Mobile Web, I seem to have to scroll down to email, type in my email address and password, and then it will go to my account. If I leave mobile Web, when I come back to it, I must go through the same steps to access it again.
With the a670, once I typed my email address & password in, it was in PERMANENTLY. I never had to re-type it. Also, if I left Mobile Web, when I came back to it, I would be at the same spot I was in when I left (as long as the phone hadn't been shut off). This made it VERY convenient to check emails when away from the PC.
Does anyone know i...

Restarting

I have gone through 4 e815's in the last to months. Of those 4 two were exchanged because they were rebooting on their own. I brought the first one back and they exchanged for a new one. When I complained about the second one I was told that I could have a virus on the first exchange so when they ported my phone book, the virus traveled to the second one. I now have another new e815 and it has happened again.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks

Chargers

Anyone else have issues with the Motorola chargers?
I have about 8 chargers, and atleast half of them are a PITA to get to work. Click it into the phone (or headset), and you have to wiggle it to get it to charge. Had same issue on my V710s.
I use 4 chargers (1 at desk, 1 by bed, 1 at folks house for when I visit, and 1 at work) and I am down to 3 that are solid performers.

Will Verizon handle them? Or do I have to talk to Motorola themselves? I have 2, but dont use, car chargers, can I expect the same performance out of them if I ever have to use them? (Motorcycle doesnt have cigarette port)
Do aftermarket chargers work better?

Hurricaine Wilma-Which provider's service works?

I have two relatives in the same apartment in south Florida, in the middle of the aftermath of hurricaine Wilma. They have no power and regular phone service does not work. The relative with the Sprint cellphone still cannot make calls on it (only once or twice did her call go through, and even then what was said by her was so choppy that it was unintelligible). The relative with the Verizon cellphone was able to use the phone with no problems at all until her battery finally died. Now, they have no means of communication, but, hopefully, power will be restored before too long.

Poor Sound Quality

I am on my second E815 and have been very dissapointed with the sound quality of the calls. I am really bothered by the fact that I hear myself while talking on the phone. It sounds like an echo but not like the echo with speakerphone. It sounds like I am talking into a tin can. I traded in my first phone and the second phone is even worse than the first. I am not sure if I should try another E815 or try the 8100 or A950. I had a 3 yr old A500 samsung from sprint and I wish I still had it. The call quality was sooo much better than this phone.
Does anyone else have this problem or know of something that I can try to fix this problem. Thank you.

do you need to have an ISP (not verizon) to use DUN?

I was considering enabling DUN on my e815, but i do not pay for any dial-up service. When anybody uses DUN, does it automagically use verizon's broadband access system, or do you have to place a call to an ISP to get internet access?

I realize that this is probably a dumb question, but then, we are talking about free internet access. It seems that everybody that talks about this topic makes no mention of how the process connects you to an ISP, DNS server, TCP/IP, and whatever other internet communication protocols you need to actually download a simple file.

Problem sending mp3's

WHenever i send an mp3 from Itunes, i get the message on my phone..But when i open the message, i get a blank white screen with an option on the SoftKeys to Cancel or Pause. However, there is no audio playing so i dont know why it's saying i can Pause. The file is 100kb and i dont know why it wont work. The file is an mp3 but i rename it to a .mid. And it still won't work....

Great phone, but...

I really enjoy the E815 from Motorola, but I have a few concerns I was wondering if anyone else has had. Mainly they are issues when the phone is charging.
When I plug the phone into the wall charger...
- it sometimes will switch itself into vibrate mode. Has that happened to anyone?
- it will shut itself off and go into a "non service" charging state. I can just power the phone back on without any problem, but it is sort of annoying.
- it will just start going crazy indicating the battery is being charged, then it isn't, then it is again. Sounds like a loose connection with the wall charger, but I make sure it is snug in there.
Has anyone else noticed any of these issues?

Thanks

quick questions about using mp3 as ringtones...

I read instructions here about chopping a song, putting it in a CF card, sending it to a non-working address, and then applying it as ringtone from the outbox. Some have also said that it only works when a file is less than 300Kb. My question is how to make a file this small? I've tried converting some songs from CDs to mp3 using the lowest possible bit rates, then chopping only part of a song (just around 20 seconds). Yet, each file is still around 450Kb or more. I just can't find a way to make the files smaller (making it mono won't do).

So, my questions are:

- Would it work if a file is bigger than 300Kb?

- If it has to be smaller than 300Kb, then how would one get around 20 or 25 seconds of a song and the file is smaller than 3...

Is it me or is my phone haunted??

I noticed that when I hold my phone and open the flip, I get sorta a creaking noise in the plastic. Does anyone else have this problem? I think there may be a problem or maybe it's just a feature Moto added as a Halloween effect??? 😉
