business ethics

Remember Consumers Distributing and Service Merchandise stores from back in the 1980's? Well, I was one of those people who used to bring back their old broken VCR and buy a new one and put the broken one back in the box and return it for a full refund. By now you must be saying this guy really is a crook. Well, after years of getting stuck myself with a few things here and there with OTHER customers used and broken merchandise, I decided it's about time to fight fire with fire. Guess the fire was too hot they ended up going out of business completely. LOL

e815 vs samsung a950???

I have posted this on the a950 site, but thought maybe I'd get some different views here.

I have posted before, but now find myself really torn between the two phones now that I've seen them both at the Verizon dealer.

I need to make a decision QUICK! I have a 6100 that is driving me crazy with dropped calls and that darn "beeping" if the volume is turned down.

I cannot decide which I like better . I like the E815 because I like Motorola phones. I am very nervous about that echo problem though. Also worried about battery life as I know that it will keep switching back and forth from EV to 1x in my area (my sister has that phone and it does that here). The A950 is nice, but I've never owned a Samsung and am worried it too, ...

Front display screen

I recently purchased the Motorola E815. On my old Motorola (I think it was a T30), the outside display screen would display the date, time, reception, and battery strength. This displays on the outside of the E815, but then it disappears and only shows the time. Is there a way to adjust the settings so that the date, reception bars, and battery strength will remain displayed? Thanks in advance for your help.

Browser Questions

I have a few questions about the browser:

1. If you receive a text message that contains a like to a web page, can you follow that link with some sort of GoTo menu option that launches the browser and takes you to the page?

2. Can you go to any page you want in the browser. That is, go to the browser and through some sort of menu, enter in any URL you want.

3. Assuming you can browse to any site you want to, can you easily create a bookmark for that site. Usually on Moto phones you do that by pressing and holding on the menu button when at a page you want to bookmark.

Thanks,

Scott

Contact lists, once and for all....

Ok I have searched and read a lot of conflicting things on this subject, I hope that someone can clear it up....

From what I have read..........
...Verizon took away the ability to sync the E815 with your PC either via BT or USB so you don't have the ability to transfer your contact list (phone book) to and from a PC for easy editing.

So is this true? Can you buy a USB cable and use the Phonetools program to enter in contact numbers? Or is there another program that you can get to make this work?

Any help will be greatly appreciated...thanks

e815 and USB data cable connection

Folks,
Okay, got my trusty USB data cable off of ebay. However, I can't seem to get BitPim or PhoneTools to talk to my e815.

Here's what I've done.
1. Followed Phonetools installation process to the letter (version 3.2😎.
2. I turned on dial-up networking on the phone.
3. XP installs the drivers for the phone, as a modem, and it is assigned a COM port.
4. However, no data communication with the phone seems to be taking place.

Any suggestions? How can i tell if its a cable, phone, or XP issue? Thanks!

Kris

MOTOROLA E815 v. V710

HELLO:

Obviously the E815 is an update to the V710, but does it still have all of the inherent bluetooth problems (i.e.: limited capability)? I have a V710 and hacked the phone with the software that was floating around on the internet so that I would be able to sync the phone with my car (that has bluetooth built in from the factory). If I upgrade to the E815 will I have to go through the nerveracking process of hacking the phone again?

Thank you!

Mobile web speed vs. LG 8100

Can e815 hook to a thumb drive?

I have searched through the forums and I am going to get this phone. Just curious if I can use the USB connectors to hook up to a thumb flash drive. I know about the microSD, and SanDisk will come out with a 1GB at the end of the year, but still wondered if my current thumb drive could be read by the phone. I am in my car a ton and can go through many, many songs, pics and vids in a week. Yeah, this may be crazy, but I like to think of the possibilities.

Anyone ever tried this? Thanks in advance for any help.

LOOSE FLIP????

Does anyone notice that the flip on this phone is extremely loose? Meaning if you open the phone and tilt it forward the flip almost closes again just on its own weight. Its a little annoying. Is it just mine or is that how this phone is?

when replying to a text message...

is there a way to avoid the next screen which displays the phone number? i dont need this screen and don't understand why we have to have it. If i'm replying to someone, of course it is the same number that it came in on!

i tried checking show only primary numbers in the menu but it did nothing

I've had this phone for months and i still start typing as soon as i hit reply until i see i'm actually just putting more numbers into the existing phone number - so aggrivating

Transflash is slow

Hey,
My phone is taking a really long time to access and read the transflash card. It still plays mp3s without skipping, but when I go to access the photo album, it will take 10 seconds or so to even open the album, and then it is slow with showing thumbnails. This just seemed to start today, and I really have no idea what's going on. And yes, I did turn the phone off and on again and I inserted and removed the card. This is very strange, especially since the phone manages to access anything stored in its own memory much faster.

Thanks for your help!

seem hack

Recently bought the E815, really disappointed that verizon takes away the ability to assign mp3s as ringtones. My question is to those who have SUCCESSFULLY completed the seem hack. I have read through the instructions, but they seem a bit overwhelming, especially with the possibility of ruining the phone. Actually how complicated is the hack? And should it be attempted by an inexperienced person? Also the hack allows data to be transferred to the phone(USB or BT), but will it add the option of assigning transferred mp3s as a ringtone? Input is appreciated!
thanks

Auto-deleting messages

no matter what setting i choose (keep 1 day, keep 20 messages etc...) when my in/outbox gets full it just shows me warnings. i have to go in and delete them myself.

So i was wondering if this is just me or if no one can have their old messages automatically deleted.

thx 😕

So many BT Headset Posts....

So which one currently, as of Sept. 21. 2005 do you all think is the best one for the E815 --- cost not being an issue -- quality, features, and NO echo being the main thing.

(yes i searched -- hence why I am asking to bring it up to date)
