Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

I wanted to take a picture of a blank screen, so I went to camera mode and put my finger over the lense and hit capture and my phone REBOOTED!

So I tried it again about 4 times, (and just now when typing this email), and it keeps doing it!!

You can't take a picture of total blackness without the phone rebooting?! One time it locked up then rebooted.

Here is the procedure, let me know if all E815 phones do this:
1) Open flip and press right side camera button
2) Cover lense with finger
3) Use left side of arrow pad to lower Brightness to 0
4) Press right soft key to Capture
5) Phone will lockup and captions will dissappear then reboot, or phone will immediately reboot!

I just tried it in a totally dark room, without my finge...

Ok, I was able active the dialup and added the new MPT software on my desktop which will allow me to move multi-media files...etc....

The one I still cannot do is move contacts from bluetooth enabled PDA to the E815. Is there anyway to do this?

Hey. So i wanted to upload some videos of mine onto the transflash card (256mb). I have plenty of memory left after i transfered the videos. one video was around 3mb and the other was around 16 mb. When i go to select the videos to play it shows an error that says application error at the top, then memory access in the middle, and in the corner there's a countdown from 5 and when it reaches 0 a message popups saying its resetting which basically just closes the menu. How do i go about playing videos that i uploaded to the tf card on my phone. o yeah...i uploaded this to the motorola/shared/video folder and i also tried the main area of the tf card when you open it up.

any help would be nice

Has anyone else had a problem with their E815 deteriorating over time?

I have gone through SIX E815's so far. The first 3 were due to manufacturing defects noticed within the first day.

The last 3...they all started out great, then anywhere from 2 weeks to a month later, they start to go downhill. This latest one I have has ALL sorts of issues. For example, when I get a new voice mail, it doesn't just beep once, now it beeps continuously non stop like a fire alarm (and not, not every few seconds, but continuously). Also, in any menu that has the "done" soft touch button, it will not work no matter what, yet it shows it is being depressed by the image on the phone. Other issues as well...all hardware/software r...

why does cdma have the uglier phones? honestly, the gsm nokia flips look way better, as well as the motorola's and samsungs. why is this?
This isnt bashing or anything, i'm jsut realy curious as to why the antenna's are cheaper, the phones are bigger, and they dont have cool styling?

How do I take video clips that are longer than 15 seconds?? Can anyone help me? I am not sure if there has been postings on this already or not. I have a 256MB card but I am not sure how to take longer videos. Please advise!

HAS ANYONE WHO HAS HAD BOTH MOTO E815 AND LG8100 NOTICED BETTER SERVICE/RECEPTION WITH ONE OR THE OTHER?? MY FRIEND AND I BOTH WENT FROM THE E815 TO THE 8100 AND WE BOTH NOTICED THAT THE 815 HAD MUCH BETTER RECEPTION, ESPECIALLY INDOORS?? I JUST WANTED TO GET SOME FEEDBACK FROM PPL WHO HAVE OWNED BOTH PHONES. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Took it the Verizon store yesterday (no issues - just wanted to check) and the tech told me there is new s/w version out and to come back in 10 minutes.

I got the phone back and really didn't notice any difference.

Anyway- here are my s/w id's

I want to use my bluetooth E815 phone with my USB2.0 PC, does it matter for the phone if the Bluetooth dongle that I get is USB 1 or 2? Will getting a USB1.0 dongle become a bottleneck and slow down DUN, etc, with the 815.

Also I know that the E815 phone only support Bluetooth class 2, but what about the Bluetooth version? Should I be buying a dongle for BT version 1.?, v2.0? I know that BT v2.0 requires less power from the laptop, so that would be good. I don't want to underbuy, but I also don't want to buy more than I'm going to use. Thanks!

Is it just me, or is the battery meter difficult to tell when its discharging? Mine is green (suppose everyone's is too) but when one bar gets reduced, it turns a slightly paler shade of green - almost undecipherable to me...
anyone else have trouble telling it apart?

Does anyone know how to convert wvm file to a file type that will play on the phone? Any help is appreciated thanks.

I'm thinking of returning my phone because of the echo that callers hear when I use speakerphone. Is this a network problem that VZW is likely to fix or should I return the phone? Or should I exchange it for same and hope for better luck? Also, I was not impressed with battery life. Abt. two days w/ only a few short calls and a little experimenting with features. And, only 1-2 bars reception in house, not much better outside, S. Fla area. ☹️ I really want to like this phone, but... 😕 Appreciate suggestions.

I spent a lot of time reading these forums deciding which phone to get, got one, and think its awesome.

Now that I have the phone, PhoneScoop isn't as riveting, and I am in search of a new gadget or something of the like to excite me again.

I am 20 and have a fair amount of disposal income, and my birthday is around the corner and I don't even know what to ask for.

Any suggestions of cool new high tech things to get or read about would be appreciated.
