Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

After arguing with Verizon about the phone I want seemingly always to be out of stock, I'm now somewhat interested in purchasing the e815, I just have a quick question for those of you who already have it.

I know it says on this site that you can have like 6 #s under one person's name.
As silly as this may sound, is this going to mean that the person's name is going to appear 6 times in my phonebook or does the person's name just appear once and then when you go to it, it shows all the #s for that person.

This leads me to another question of does it allow you to lock people out of certain people's phone numbers. I have somewhat nosey coworkers and there are certain people's #s I don't want them to see because they were only given to ...

Okay, been looking around ebay and calling Verizon. I need to get a new phone because my LG's reception is horrible, but $300 is a bit much. And, I'm finding ebay is not cheaper. Doesn't $300 seem a bit inflated? Especially when they practically give phones away with new contracts?

Anyone have any other options, suggestions? Anyone want to sell their used one? 😉

Does anybody know how to increase the amplitude in this program to increase the volume on mp3 clips??? I want to make the mp3 clips sound louder on my phone like the originally midi files that came with the phone. Any ideas??

this may have already been hashed out, but...

i just bought the 8100 and now i'm thinking of trading it in for the e815. the 8100 does not currently have an MP3 player built in. can anyone verify that you can transfer MP3 files onto the Transflash card and play music on the e815? is transferring files to the phone user-friendly? i don't wanna to be duped again, like the 8100.

I noticed that this website listed 256 megs, but I was wondering if there are any hacks/updated software or anything to get it to recognize a larger card?

Love the 815! Just wondering if you can set an alarm and have the phone wake up if the phone is off. I had a nokia before and it would do it. Nice if you don't want to be bothered when sleeping.

Does the Mp3 player have a cool equalizer or any effect when playing Mp3s?

What do you see on the screen (name of song, track length etc?) when using Mp3 player?

If anyone is still looking for a 512mb transflash card I was able to pick one up at my local Cingular Wireless store today for $69.99. Now does anyone know where to find a decent pair of stereo headphones with a 2.5mm jack?

Just came from my local Verizon store, I had gone to have a defective leather case replaced. While I was there, I asked about the cost of a data cable for my phone. The first sales person I asked refused to acknowlege my presence or answer my questions. The next two salespeople I spoke to told me that Verizon did not sell a data cable for the E815 because it could be used a modem for high-speed internet and therefore, phone book management was not an option. How does a company staff a store full of such morons?

My wife dropped her Samsung the other day and the LCD went out. But, she's had the phone for 23 months, so she is eligable for new every 2. What makes this phone better/different than the LG8100 now that the LG8100 has the MP3 player activated? I'm sure most of you prefer the E815, but what makes it better?

I want to buy 512MB for my phone. On a lot of sites, they sell a 512MB Mircosd/Transflash card, and they also sell a 512MB Transflash card for a little cheaper. I thought microsd and translfash were the same. Which one of those will work on this E815?

do you think having the GPS on drains the battery. I just shut of EVDO to see if that extends the battery life, and allow me to connect to verizon thru it's express network and not it's EVDO on my laptop. so far so good.

So, I just edited my phone to enable the OBEX profile on my phone because I have a car that uses the OBEX profile to store the phonebook from the phone to the car (lexus).

So I enabled OBEX and another important-looking option that allows you to send contacts (duh-needed) via bluetooth. So, i try setting it up, follow the lexus manual, and it says "send phonebook from phone."

So im looking for an option and highlight a contact and scroll to the new send option and IT DOES NOTHING.

I read further about it online, and it says somthing stupid like "feature not yet supported"

so is there any other way to transfer the phonebook?

does your phone sometimes freeze (pop up window remains on display) after sending a text message and you need to push the END button? If so,did you notify Motorola and what was their response?

I did a search first but could not find anything. I changed the sound for my shutter on the camera. Press Camera button, center soft key, scrool down to picture setup and you can choose several different sounds when the shutter goes off. Is there anyway to change the sound over to be a ring tone. I am interested in the chimp sound but can not find where on the phone this sound is stored. Thanks for your help. 🙄 🙄

I hit the Camera button and i get the message "Busy. Try Again."??? And it is the same for recording video. The camera worked for the first day i got it, and now it doesnt work. And i've had it for about 4 days. Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks

I got the headset yesterday and the first thing when I opened up the box was "wow this thing is smaller than it looks like in the pictures". It fits easily in a shirt pocket.

I wasn't sure that I would like the fact the earpiece is outside your ear and was worried about it being loud enough. One phone call to voicemail and I was convinced that I would have no trouble hearing anything anyone said.

It's not as heavy as the Jabra is. I drove to work wearing the H500 and it didn't bother me (about an hour drive). It feels like you can wear this thing all day long thanks to the light weight. The H500 also wasn't phased in the least that I had the driver's side window down, it recogn...
