Recurring Reception Problems with the 8100

Ok, so I am a diehard LG user. I've had the 8100 since it came out and multiple LG phones before this one. I love everything about this phone. I had the "rebooting" problem with the original and about a month ago finally took it to the store where they gave me a new one. The rebooting problem was fixed (i think b/c the upgrade to Ver. 07) but i had horrible reception. I took that one back 2 weeks later and they did a diagnostic test and gave me ANOTHER new one. This is my 3rd one and this reception is bad too. I live in Northeaster NJ where Verizon is great. I have compared reception with other, older verizon phones and my 8100 (3rd one) has 1 bar where the other phones have had 4 or 5 bars. I am starting to think that its me. Has anyo...

Exchanged the 8100 for the 815.Now 815 is going back !

The 8100 ,I like the phone but had to return it three times. Twice for microphone problems and once because the front screen and buttons did not work. I really liked the software on the LG phones they are very easy to navigate through the phone and the quick keys to lock/unlock and put your phone to vibrate at a blink of a eye were really nice and very user friendly .I finally returned the 3rd one because I was on day 15 and would be stuck with a phone that I was having problems with. So I put service back to my old and tired moto 720. A week has passed and I went today and picked up the Moto 815 ,LOL what is everybody ranting and raving about ? The Software on this phone is absolutely the friggin worst ,I could navigate the rain forest in C...

Sending pix to email from VX8100

After only a few days, I'm getting a little frustrated at how the Verizon service and phone works compared to a more user friendly previous equipment and service.

I took a photo with my VX8100 and sent it to my home email. I looked at the email and no picture. So I resent it. Again, no picture. However both emails were 57KB in size.

Now, I also carry a Blackberry. Guess what, the photos appeared in the email on the Blackberry.

Is there something wrong? Do I need software on my PC to see the email attachment? IF the photo got stripped going thru the Blackberry server then why did I get two emails of 57KB in size?

Also, any guesses as to why photos of 9KB to 12KB sent from my BB via MMS don't show up on my phone? All I get i...

Software of choice for making VX8100 Ringtones??

Just got my VX8100 two days ago and after hashing through this forum have learned a lot about the features and fixes that can be applied to this phone, and made my like this phone more than I originally did when I took it out of the box.

Thanks for that. 😁

My question revolves around making your MP3's a ringtone. What software do you find the most user friendly to use? I've downloaded the BitPim and was using it's sound editing capabilities, but I'm not liking the tool to make these 30 second clips on it. So I'm hoping that someone out there has a better mousetrap for this one. Since this forum hasn't let me down yet, I'm sure great info is on it's way.

How Long

Hi,

Since there doesn't seem to be a sucessor to the LG 8100 on the horizon anytime soon, how long does anyone think they will be selling the phone. It has been out quite a while.

Bitpim, Bluetooth and 8100

I got an lg vx8100.. I think its an overall great phone....

Next I read all about bitpim and downloaded the software.

Then I got a usb bluetooth adapter for the computer.. after numerious but frustating attemps I managed to get the phone paired up with the computer and bitpim recognized it at com 6.. although it didn't detect phone, but if i got to file system the innards of the phone shows up.

The first thing I tried was using it as a modem, I went to the service programming and inabled dun bluetooth. I dialed out using #777 and it workded perfectly. It was faster than dial up! I connected at 115 kbps whereas dial up in my area connects at between 45 to 56 kbps. I was amazed...

Next I tried the bitpim thing..I was able to ...

Voice Command

I figured out how to use the side button for Voice Command. However, when you say "Call Someone", it asks for a name. Where do you record the name? How do you record the name?

Available GIN Apps after V07 update

🙂 After reading some of the posts here, I feel I need to ask a question. Can someone tell me what Ring Tone apps and what Get Going apps are visible? I am thinking of getting V07 flashed soon, but am wondering what GIN apps I will lose contact with? Is MyCast and Verizon Super Pages still there? I just read where Sony Music box was not available. Who at VZW can we call to find out when the GIN apps we like to use will be back? 😕 Sounds like they rushed 07 out so they could get their Vcast Music up and running and forgot to test the rest of the software. 😳 Not sure how long the 07 flash should take, but I had a store Rep tell me the other day it would take 2 hours 🙄 Thanks for any help.

Ringtones, mini SD card - Please set me straight

I just acquired an LGVX8100 and I also purchased a mini-SD card and card reader.

1) I have .midi ringtones on the card, that I would like to import into the phone for use as ringtones. In checking this forum, it appears that IS NOT possible and I have to use a USB data cable and downloadable software called bitpim. Is this correct? Are there any chain stores that sell this data cable? Verizon only sells it bundled with other items. Radio Shack did not have the cable.

2) Is there a media downloader that will allow me to EXPORT photos and sounds from my phone to my computer?

3) If I use a mini SD card can I IMPORT wallpaper to the phone for use instead of emailing photos to 10 DIGIT PHONE [email protected]?

4) What can I use ...

Auto volume and Voice Priv. w/V07

Has anyone had the time, or even cared, to play with turning the Auto Volume setting, or Enhance Voice Privacy, on, since you've had the v07 upgrade? I'm just curious if those problems were fixed, that's all.

Web

I thought the internet on this phone was suppose to be improved over the 7000. When I go to Verizon Mobile Web, it looks the same as it always did. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

reception has pushed me over the edge!!!!!!!!!

i love everything about this phone except for the reception. unfortunately, the reception is the most important thing on any phone, and they couldn't even get this right.

the reception on my 8100 is so bad that i can't get through a 5 minute conversation in my own house or at work without dropping a call. also, i am not getting reception in places where i used to before i got this phone, and I have friends whose "suckier" phones work MUCH better in the same places I am dropping calls. i have had enough. I really have 2 questions now:

1. has anyone ever had any problems returning a phone for another brand? I know people have gotten replacements, but that is not what I want.

2. what would be the best phone to exchange for if the ...

Gave up on my 8100 sorry to say!

Every bluetooth headset I tried never worked as good as the moto 815. To many disconnects and lots of static. Loved the phone, but I wear an earpiece all day and it was driving me crazy. Problem has been solved by using the moto 815. I use my phone to talk first and then all the other stuff is cool and the 8100 was very cool!! Sorry people hated to do it 😢 , Steven in California

V4 to V7 My MP3 and Verzion Tech People

Ok, why is it then when I go into Verizon and asked them to upgrade my phone, from v4 to v7 they say it won't fixed the problems of volume control and camera delay ?
All they say is that it will disable the MP3 and I will have to convert all my MPS files to there format on my 1gig card in my phone.
First of all I don't want to go through all that mess. I enjoy the files being MP3 format.
Now , I have read here there is a work around without having change the format of my mp3's on card and still fixing the other issues on this phone.
WHY DOESN'T VERIZON PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS WORKAROUND?
So at this point I have not upgraded cause I don't want to loose all the work I did getting my songs onto my card to start with , and now they are sa...
