LG VX-8100

Hey I have just got a 8100 and i have been reading these forums trying to figure out what i need to do to get MP3's as ringtones instead of downloading them from the get it now. If there is a way which it looks like there is, give me a reply. If u could put it in to layman's terms it would be great just getting into this stuff. thankx

Hey guys! I got a data cable but How do i get MP3s on my phone?? I really dont want to use the Music Essential Kit, is there a way i can see my phone like as "removable storage" or anything like that?? Thanks!

Has anyone had a problem with the phone rebooting? This would involve either V04 or V07 firmware. I am just curious because I have had a reboot problem after getting the V04 update months ago, that I did not have with V01.

Well, it's finally available. $69.99 on LG site and $53.95 on other sites. 7 hrs talk time, 170 standby, which means it will probably last about 2 days per charge.

Okay, before I get slammed for asking an old question, I will apologize in advance. I just couldn't find this exact situation.

My question is; Can I download songs from Itunes, burn them to a CD, and then rip that to my computer and convert to .wma's or .mp3's to play on my phone, or to .mid's to use as ringtones?

I have been reading about the V7 upgrade to the 8100 on this forum. I have version 4 on my phone now and everything is fine. For those of you who have had the upgrade, should I get it, or should I just continue with my version 4? I am just worried there will be problems if I do upgrade the software.

Somehow my 8100 has switched into "Car Kit" mode. I don't know what I did to activate car kit mode, don't know how to disable it, and even VZW customer service doesn't know what car kit mode is.

Bottom line is I can make/receive calls, but can't hear the person on the other line, and they can't hear me. TXT msgs work. When I plugged in a headphone, still no sound.

Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

Just purchased new 8100. I have a cable for it as it is the same as the 7000 and 8000.
I am looking for a driver. My laptop running XP does not have one and cannot recognize it. I would like to use my phone software, however need a driver.
Can anyone assist??

I have tried to log on via phone#@vzw3g.com and vzw as the password and keep gettig wrong username and password. Can anyone help. Its is connecting then giving the invalid user name and password pop. Help if ya can. Thanks. 😕

Does anyone else experience this high-pitch ringing noise if you are talking on the 8100 with a headset or on speakerphone after a couple of minutes? I'm wondering if I should replace my 8100 or not...

I think I saw someone asking if the headset will ring and not the phone, if you set the phone ringer all the way off it will ring in the ear piece still and not the phone.

Had an interesting meeting today with an LG advisor for Sprint - I'm in KC. This LG tech rep advised me that even though she worked on their Sprint product line, that she was fairly familiar with the 8100 and some of it's issues. When I asked about the BT problems, she asked if I had tried a noise-canceling (NC) BT headset. She said the 8100 would work best with a headset with that feature.

I looked on Plantronics website - they allow you to sort by feature - and they only list three noise-canceling BT headsets; the Discovery 640, the Voyager 510, and the Pulsar 590A. That last one is not really ideal for mobile use.

On the Motorola website, the only headset that's specs specifically state "noise-canceling", is the H700. Can anyone...

OK I've been using bitpim for a while now with no real problems...until recently. Every time i load a new ringer on my phone, for whatever reason now, all my contacts assigned ringers get moved one down tho the next ringer😕 So then i have to manually go reassign all my contacts ringers to the right one again. Anyone have any insight into this? It also may help to know that i have something like 90 ringers on there. I have plenty of memory on the phone cuz all my pics/flix/mp3s and such are on my 1 gig card so i dont think its a memory issue but i dont know what else it could be ☹️

Im using IMTOO to convert my movies to .3gp (or should I use .3gp2?).

You said to change it to 150 kb/s and 15 FPS. How do I change it??? In the IMTOO interface and, oh well I just found it. You have to highlight the file to change the settings. Oh well, thanks again anyway.

You have any other reccomendations as to how to make it play better?

But I have some flix I want to get off my phone and I have a MiniSD Card just no reader.... do i have to get a data cable?? I think i know the answer to this question, just wondering! for some strange reason i cant get one song to show up on the phone. its on the card , when its in the computer but it wont show on the phone.its in mp3 format.i even deleted a few songs off the card because i thought the memory was full. its a 512mb card,i have 96 songs on it, it can only hold about 98, only because some of my songs run 6 to 12 minutes. so if memory isnt my problem, and format isnt a problem ,what else could it be.

I just got my USB cable yesterday. After messing
around, I figured out that you could actually
sync all your (.wma) to you phone without
the crap vcast stuff.

1. Select the "Sync Music" in your phone,
the Media player will pop out in you PC.
Then just drag and drop your songs (in .wma)
format to the file list.

2. Click the "Sync" button. Media player
will copy them to your phone (under "My Music")
as far as they are checked on the file list.

3. You can also change the "play" shortcut
to Vcast Music to use the front button.

This function is Super 😁, the sound quality is
great. The phone can also display all the
song information during playing

i just got my new 8100 and i would like to get those 30 sec. clips from walmart.com. What is everything that in need to do this? I know i need some sort of USB cable, but where is the best/cheapest place to go about doing that?. And do i need to buy more memory for the phone in order to do this? Im thinking that ill probably wanna put at least 10 thrity second clips on there..
