8300 or Wait?

I really enjoy the unlimited video capture length feature BUT....176 x 144 resolution is kinda old to me, the only phone better than this is the a970 which I'm just not to fond of. I have and like the 8100 and am thinking of upgrading but before i do i wanted your opinions, do you guys think a newer phone with a better resolution is on the horizon at all?

Looked at an 8300 today

I finally got around to going over to the local VZ store to look at the new 8300. I was impressed. It has the exact same form factor and feel as my old 6000, which was excellent. Much better feel to it then my Moto V3I. They did not have any on display however. They only had the 8100's out. I had to ask if I could see one, and a sales rep went to the back and brought out a new one. Turned it on and let me play with it. When he looked up my account I found I could have one for free (other then about $29 in sales tax). I would have taken it then, but they can't transfer contacts for another week or so because they don't have the software for it yet. I took the reps card so I can ask for him when I go back next week to get one. When reps trea...

What is plug on back near antenna?

There is a rubber plug on the back of the 8300 near the antenna with an arrow on it. It is the larger plug, not the 2 small ones that probably hide screws. It was in crooked on my phone, so I decided to remove it and reinsert it, but I only managed to tear it. It doesn't seem to want to come out.

Ways to get a homemade cut mp3's as ringtones onto 8300??

I've been reading this forum and it seems the only way to get a homemade cut mp3(about 20-25sec) onto phone and use it as a ringtone is to mail it as a pix message to your phone, was wondering since this phone does not support Bitpim, it there other software that can be used to directly transfer short mp3's and small pics to the phone or will Bitpim be coming out with there version in the near future?

earpiece volume

I feel like the earpiece volume is very low compared to my old VX7000. Anyone else have this problem? I have earpiece volume at the highest level in the sound setting. Any ideas what the problem may be?

lg VX8300 vs. lg VX9800?

Now this will be a touch battle. I have heard of problems with the 9800 (which i bought instead of the 8300) I have also heard the 8300 has better reception. But i think the 9800 (yes even with its candy bar shape and weight) is an amazningly beautiful phone!! Was I wrong, was I right? Whats your opinion?

load ringtones via usb?

Is there a way to get ringers ono the phone w/out sending via e-mail. I cant seem to make a 30 second MP3 clip shorter than 350 kb without it sounding real bad. Bitpim does not support the 8300, and I think that the actual sending of the clip compromises the quality. If anyone has an idea for good conversion settings so that the file is small but the quality decent, that'd be cool. Thanks y'all.

What's all the fuss about with the 8300? No Comparison!

I just went to look at this great new phone called the LG vx8300, what a let down. It is not near as sexy, in fact, it looks like a cheap toy. I can't imagine the tasty people in this forum would jump at this garbage. The 8100 is far superior in every aspect except the new menu themes. WOW! The backlit keys are not as nice and no text on a closed phone, just to mention a few.

Anyway, different strokes as they say.

I used my upgrade and got the "STILL" heavyweight champion of the "RING", the 8100.
Yes, I got another.

Best of luck to you all who got the 8300, I wish you many years of enjoyment!!!

Went on a trip with my 8300

I just returned from a short business trip which had me driving from NJ to MA and back. About 600 miles. For kicks I decided I would check my reception as often as I could along the way. 95% of the time I had the full 8 bars. The rest of the time I had 7. Sometimes it would be 4 Ev-DO and 3 1x. Sometimes the opposite. Even in the hotel I stayed at I had 8. No one can say this phone doesn't have stellar reception. For the price, in my opinion, there is no better phone out there right now. I should mention that this is my second 8300. My first had people saying I sounded garbled or muffled. If you have any problems with yours at all I would recommend swapping it for another. They are all different. If you get a good one like I have now, I'm su...

Bad Speakers?

After having the 8300 for less than 12 hours I seem to have blown out the speakers. It all started with Ringtone #6 which had lots of static. I tried the speakerphone phone and it's even worse. I thow an MP3 on there and it's nearly unlistenable. W.T.F?!?!?! Otherwise, I love it. Do I just have a lemon?

speakerphone with phone closed?

with my last phone, a v710, you could not use the speakerphone with the phone closed. I assumed that most phones had that feature, but I am surprised that I cannot do so with the VX-8300. Has anyone figured out how to do this or is it not possible?

Reception questions-- hearing myself in the phone when I talk

Ok,

I got the vx8300 a couple of days ago. The only thing that I'm not sure of is the fact is that you can hear yourself in the phone when you speak. I don't know if I really like this. Is there a way to turn this off? Maybe I'll get used to it. I did a quick search trying to figure out why this is but didn't see a really good answer. What is the reasoning behind this? Its a great phone btw!

Personal pix on start up and power down?

On my old vx 6000 there was a menu setting that let you assign pix to the startup and shutdown process. So far I've only been able to find sound settings (on or off) for these features. Is there a way to add pix so you don't have to get the basic phone service data displayed?

Thanks

clip? vibrate instead of ring?

Considering this phone and have 2 questions:
* Can the phone flip open to answer a call without having to unclip the clip that goes with the phone. I understand that "the clip" may not be included with the phone when purchased.
* Can the phone be set to vibrate instead of ring?

Thanks so much for answering! 🙂
