trial period

does sprint have a trial period to try out the coverage. i really want to switch from verizon, i have never been more dissapointed from a phone than i was from the storm. it really rubbed me the wrong way that they released the phone period, then to hear approximately 6 months after release they were already planning storm2. the only thing that keeps me with verizon is the coverage. i could save alot of money monthly by switching to sprint and i love the pre. any recomendations or info? TIA

I'm curious, is there anybody who is excited about the Palm Pixi?

It just doesn't seem like that exciting of a smartphone to me, and it's not all that good looking. I think the Pre is cooler. I like the name Pixi, I just think it's a better fitting name for a high end camera phone.

Iphone drops 30% of calls!

"How utterly BAD is the iPhone on AT&T in the New York area? The average iPhone drops 30 percent of all calls. And that's considered acceptable by Apple. (Acceptable) yes because there's an app for that

Giz reader Manoj took his iPhone to the Genius Bar to have it looked at because it was dropping calls left and right, and AT&T swore stuff was totally kosher on their end, so he thought something was wrong with his phone. After doing a stat dump, the Genius showed Manoj that his iPhone had actually dropped 22 percent of calls.

The jaw dropper: The Genius told Manoj that's actually excellent compared to most people in the New York area, where a 30 percent dropped call rate is the average. There was nothing Apple could do for Manoj. His ...

Anyone Else Notice This?

When I'm roaming on Verizon with my Sanyo Katana, I get better voice, signal, and reception quality than with my work issued G'Zone- WAY BETTER!

I can actually call out in fringe areas more times than my Verizon buddies can on different phones.

Data plan?

Why would Sprint not offer a BB/Smartphone data only plan? Their claim to fame is supposed to be their data network right? I prefer to have 2 devices because of the SAR rating that go with smartphones. I know it's still a theory but I don't want to test it with my brain. Looks like AT&T has the best rate so they'll get my business this time.

Switching to Sprint

I have fallen in love with the HTC HERO from all the videos and pics I have seen. I have heard many bad things and good things about sprint since I have left them about 2 years ago. I switched to AT&T because at the time they were great and i wanted the iPhone but now not so much but I am willing to stay with AT&T. Sprint and AT&T is about the same network wise in my area. Would it be a good Idea to switch or should I wait for a AT&T android phone? I also heard one was in line to come out but AT&T canceled the production.

Any Mobile Any Time and Roaming Question

To my understanding if you start a call in a Sprint area and end the call in a roaming area the entire call is rated in network and you get the benefit of AMAT.

Is this correct?

Sprint Family Locator?

Anyone have experience with this feature? Can you provide any comment or opinion?

I've temporarily got it turned-on on my account. Seems pretty cool, since I've got kids on my account.

Appears that accuracy can vary greatly (10-15 yards, on the low-end - 1.5 mile radius, on the high-end).

Seems that the Centro isn't nearly as accurate as others. Is that consistent across all Centros? Or, could it be this particular one.

Rant & Instinct seem more precise.

Is this the exact same location info that E-911 would receive? Or, is this 'light-weight' variant of the GPS capabilities? (I hope E-911 gets better accuracy.)

Actually, I guess I don't know if this even uses GPS. Or, does it simply use cell tower triangulation?

Any...

Instinct HD to launch at $250 after rebate?

Wow, that is interesting indeed. I've just got about 60-days until I am eligible for an update. I have assumed that I would get a Pre, but was also going to take a close look at the Instinct Q, and the Hero too. From the info I've seen, I still think that Pre is the way to go for me--especially at a 'current' $100 lower price point.

I wasn't crazy about my Instinct, but liked it well enough. I have always had good experiences with all of the Samsung HW I have owned, and there have been quite a few over the years.

If the main thing the HD has going for it over the first-gen Instinct is the HD video, 5mp camera, Opera Mini, etc, then I think the Pre is still the better phone for me--especially as the SW updates keep getting pushed ou...

Giving away SERO and keeping Number?

So I've had my SERO plan for about 18 months and I want out. I'm happy with my service and all that I just wanna get an iphone.

My friend gave away his SERO plan to someone but lost his number. I've had my number forever and want to keep it.

Is there any way to sign over my sero plan to someone and keep my number?

If you figure it out and want the plan its yours.

Sprint 3rd on list of possible bankruptcy's this year

3. Sprint Nextel

Sprint Nextel is bleeding customers, and could lose as many as 4.4 million net post-paid subscribers this year.

This is a huge problem when you have large amounts of maturing debt over the next few years.

A recent Deutsche Telekom acquisition rumor offered some hope, but that appears to have faded. Facing a difficult road ahead on its own, the company better keep its lawyers on speed-dial.

Takeover of Sprint from DT?

Hey all-- I've been a lurker here for years and just now got around to registering.

Anyway, I just read about the possible bid of Deutsche Telekom to take over Sprint/Nextel. Any predictions? This, of course, would impact T-Mobile and would raise the issue of merging CDMA v. GSM.

I have been a diehard Sprint customer for about 10 years now. I really do prefer Sprint on most levels. I'm glad to see the hardware catching up to the competition.

Hey, maybe a takeover and a huge infusion of cash from D-T would be a win-win?

Thoughts?
