700MHz auction

I sort of understand what the importance of the 700MHz frequency is, but what is the difference between the blocks? Why is block C more important than block D, for example, and why did Verizon only buy 1 block instead of more than 1...

thanks for putting up with these questions, no trolls please 👀

Ok...some people are such phone geeks

I had a guy come into my location the other week, 5 til close. I am in a mall so my safe was open and I was counting money. All the sudden I hear:

"Quick, in 5 seconds, what's your best data plan...1, 2, 3, 4, 5...WHAT?!?! Don't you know your own product? What kind of salesman are you?"

Me: "Fine, since you won't let me ask any questions, introduce myself, or anything...our best plan is 149.99 for..." (went on to explain).

Of course I barely got that out and I get:

"Hey, isn't this that cheap iPhone knockoff (handling the Voyager)"

Me: "So, was your intent to come in and start arguements, or are you interested in service?"

"Oh boy you are a freaking idiot. Of course I am looking for service. I am here right? Boy you ...

Verizon is a cesspool of poor customer service...confirmed..

Just read all these reps' negative posts. They're probably agents anyways, otherwise they could see bill images...

It's good to know these reps would never make it at the wireless carrier I work for. If you are in a US Cellular area, port over your number. I guarantee we would not post you grievances online and your customer service will be great!

Btw, if you are thinking about switching, remember to NOT cancel your existing service as the port will auto-cancel your account at your old carrier.

I am sure these reps bring this on themselves...

We'll be relocating to thr Ft Myers area soon. Can anyone tell me what the Verizon coverage is like, and/or if there is another carrier we should consider instead?

Verizon is Dated

The phone selection is such a joke. By the time they release a phone.....its dated. The data package is a total rip off. Thank good for the good service because they suck in every other aspect. Verizon you are boring.....your phones suck and you rip off your customers for data!

New Story

This guy says his battery isn't working. Look at the acct. and he got the cheapo motorola phone. You know, the one that people get because it is free. He's only had it for 19 (NINETEEN) freaking months. Explain that batteries do not last until infinity. Shocker, I know. Explain that next month he'll be able to get a new phone PLUS an extra $50 off. Says he will cancel after another 5 months because VZW won't replace his MOTOROLA battery for free now.

I asked him if he was having problem with his service. Did calls drop? No. Did he get his messages? Yes. But you want to cancel VZW because Motorola made a crappy phone? You're an idiot.

If you TV dies do you cancel your cable? No? Hmmmm.

I still am not sure why customers think they c...

best phone for text messaging

Never used text messaging before now but last month found myself needing to. Thought they were only 10 cents per text (and found out after sending 100!) that they are 20 cents each. UUGGH...

SO, now I am on a search for a good phone for texting because I am definately going to start using that more. I was looking at the ENV. Is that the best phone out there for texting? I have always bought Motorolas (even had the voyager for a day or so and didn't like the sound quality--too muffled) and am worried that the LG's may all be a muffled sound quality.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

WHY Open Access requires device testing

So, this is my first PhoneScoop post- but I've been watching the commentary here for almost a year and feel like I finally have something to contribute.

Verizon has finally decided to open up their network and permit 3rd party handsets to operate off of their towers. There has been some outcry from casual observers complaining about the need to certify devices before activation, rather then simply allowing anything built on CDMA bandwidth to be activated no-questions-asked. This would be like a GSM carrier who could care less what kind of phone you have, whether it was purchased overseas or whether you built it on a breadboard in your basement...

Basically, all CDMA handset use the same spectrum of airwaves for all calls from all devi...

Voyager Firmware Update

Is any one truly happy with the v07 update? The change your shortcut options like the Iphone are cool but having the set button as a button sucks! The internet does have smoother scrolling. Bottom line is, is it what we Voyager owners wanted? Somewhat. Here's a positive though, we've had two firmware updates in like 3 months...Not bad

Latest Information on Upcoming Phones/PDAs

Been a while since I've posted here as I've been rather busy. A couple tidbits of new information for you guys:

HTC Touch - Tested the phone, and love it. Was delayed due to an issue with the original ROM, which has been resolved. Should see a launch somewhere in mid-late April, hopefully.

LG-VX9100 Env2- Played with one a few days ago (the black one). I absolutely hate the front of the phone, but the keypad is just as good as the Voyager's. I'm happy they switched the charging port over to MicroUSB, though! Q2 2008 is the release window.

Palm Centro - Also played with one a few days ago. Yes, it is definitely coming to Verizon. I'm not sure of how many color schemes, but the one I used was the same black as the Sprint one w...

WiMax versus LTE???

🤭
I'm pretty new so I don't want to get all technical since I probably won't understand, but- is Verizon doing the right thing by switching to LTE instead of to Wimax? I only ask because I read on engadget that Time Warner, Comcast, Sprint, and maybe even Google and Intel are banding together to establish a Wimax network. Verizon and AT&T are both going to LTE. I just wanted to know if LTE is better, faster, etc than Wimax.
