i am switching from a 39.99 a month plan to one the will up my monthly bill to about sixty a month. a friend told me that now i will be eligible for a upgraded phone discount every year. but at only fifty off instead of new every two's hundred off. so is this true. I'm not planning on switching phones soon but still would like to know. {voyager does look pretty sweet!} any info would be great!

I was just curious to know if anyone else had been hearing this rumor flying around. Just little history, Embarq got a "legal Divorce" from sprint last June. Embarq is a stand alone company now except for their wireless using Sprint's network. To my knowledge the deal on sprints network is only good for one year and Embarq doesn't have the money or means to start their own. If this merger or buy out did happen Verizon would pick up the Midwest as far as home phone and DSL service, as well as a distribution center right out of Kansas City. The services that they both offer are very close. And Embarq desperately needs a step parent with some common since to step in and show them the way; they need to get rid of all the old sprint employees who...

So i have this on my voyager and I want it to notify me when i get an email but can i turn off or change that annoying ding i get when a email comes through, i went through my phone settings and there is no email alert sound and i found nothing in the options of mobile email except to turn it off(but then you get no notification at all)

So now that Verizon allows their phones to be unlocked, is there anyway I could buy one of their phones full price (w/o a contract) and bring it to another carrier? I want to use a Chocolate or RAZR Maxx Ve on U.S. Cellular.

So why does Verizon have to pick every other stupid phone out there?

I don't want a flip/slide/swivel phone, since more moving parts = more things to break.

I don't need a keyboard to text, since it's easier to just call.

I don't need a camera, since I already have one.

I don't need a music player, since I already have an MP3 player.

This is what I want:
* Bar phone
* Good talk time (4-5 hours)
* Good reception
* Thin (so I can keep it in my pocket)
* Bluetooth would be nice (for the car)

The Moto SLVR L9 would be nice... if it worked on the VZ network.

On a side note, other things that would be nice would be a globally unified network...

Has anyone ever seen a customer use this on a PDA/ Blackberry without teathering? I couldn't imagine that this is likely.

I remember a long time ago hearing about customers being turned off for exceeding the allotment with an aircard, but since VZW started 'limiting the throughput speeds' I haven't heard of any actual stories of customers being affected since the policy changed.

my mother has a contract with verizon, her, her boyfriend, and two friends that are together(stupid huh?). they told my mother they wont be able to pay their half of the bill, and there is not enofe disposible income to to pay their half. on top of thea my mother wants to put me on the contract. how can she do this to were i get a new phone?

I'm ready for a new phone,I currently have the 9400, not a horrible phone. It just keeps you happy for about 3 minutes. But the point is I can't decide between the pearl or voyager. I like the voyager's large touch screen and html brower. I love the pearls style, UI, e-mail features, ect. I feel like if I get either phone I will regert it and want the other. Just wanted some input on what I should go with. Thanks.

or heaven forbid actually being able to require a unlock code to get into certain areas of your phone at your choosing like my old Moto 500 for Cingular did

I think Verizon wants to make everything easy so that people who dont have any phone knowledge with phones can work any phone they have .. my issue is make both .. some phones basic for those that "just want a phone" and others that the ppl like all of us who are into phones can have these options

but then you wont have grandma paying 200 for a upgrade to the latest phone .. but think about it .. most of the current cell phone users are pretty savvy when it comes to phones .. the 60 year old who .. just wants...

Hi everyone,
I know this has been discussed before, but I just wanted to confirm: When you have a BB device, you MUST purchase a monthly data plan, even if you decide not to use it for e-mail. Like if you get the Pearl just for the "dazzle" of owning a BB, you still need to get the data plan right?

A friend of mine is trying to convince me that he can get a BB device on T-Mobile w/o a data plan, but I think that's incorrect.
