BB Pearl - online discount ?

What makes someone eligible for this discount?

I've called Verizon a dozen times and they all give me their best fairy tale explanation.

I;m up for the upgrade and I get the 2-year agreement pricing. For some reason, I can't get the additional online discount of $100.00...WHY?
I got it on the xv6800 (which i returned).

What am I not understanding?

Switched to AT&T after 7 years as a Verizon customer:

I have never thought that I would be leaving Verizon and moving to another company while I am living in New York, but I was quite disappointed with the phones from VZ and just tried AT&T's black berry curve, I have to admit that this is the best phone I have ever have ( keep in mind I have used other PDAs including HTC 6700), but the service of AT&T has improved significantly and quality of the sound is much better. The best thing I like about the phone is battery life, plus I would be using this phone for all over the world.

Good bye Verizon.

PS: I am not a AT&T sales rap, you can see my posts in this forum, I have always post in Verizon's phone section.

Quick Ringtone Solution

perfomed on a VX 8300 but most likely will jwork with any VZW standard UI:

1. Go to VZW.com and preview ringtones or play any song from anywhere.

2. on the phone: Get It Now-> Get Tunes & Tones-> My Sounds-> Record New. Play the music while simultaneously pressing the record button.

3. Send-> to your phone number. It will be recived as an SMS message.

4. Click save as ringtone.

5. forward SMS to friends.

what to do...?

I currently am carrying a personal phone (LG 8600) that i pay for and a work phone with email (original Q) that is 100% comped from my employer. I now have the opportunity to eleminate both of these phones and go with a Pearl on my personal account, however I would qualify for a 22% discount on my account through where I work and my company would also give me a kickback for the email cost. Is there a benefit to having only 1 phone? I've been carrying two for so long I don't know any different. Is the pearl the way to go for combined use? I like it because it's small but still good email use. Any suggestions?

Question for Verizon techs or employees

My Verizon store has a couple of openings for techs. I know they are hired and paid by Solectron. My question is if I applied and was hired, and a customer service rep position or sales was posted through Verizon, am I able to apply and work for Verizon? I have been told there is no chance because of a policy Solectron and Verizon have. I have also been told you can go and work for Verizon, if it is approved through district managers. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks.

Do you need evdo to get messages from BB 8830??? need some help!

I am currently using a blackberry 8830 with verizon and I only get about 50% of my emails and the ones I do get are usually delayed by about 15 min.

I live in a very low signal area inside of a city that does have evdo coverage (i live in a bermuda triangle of cell reception that smans about 1/2 mile).

My phone is swithing off between 1X and EVDO...usually somewhere between 0-2 bars of service on either band.

Is there anyway to get better email performance? or am I just S.O.L???

thanks, Chris

Job openings with Verizon?

I am an Information Technology professional in the Chicago area that was recently laid off due to the slump in the new home building market. I would like to work in some capacity in the wireless industry, as it has always been a hobby of mine. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how I can get my foot in the door working for a wireless carrier in the Chicago area? (sales, tech support, customer service, testing, etc.)

Any suggestions anyone can give will certainly be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Best BT Headset

I'm looking to get a BT headset for my Samsung i730, and I was thinking about the new Jawbone. Will this work well w/ the i730?

I will probably upgrade to a new phone within the next 3-4 mos, so anything I buy now I want to work w/ the next gen of phones like the i760 or 6800 on Verizon.

Kudos to Verizon

I just wanted to post this as an in general kudos to Verizon, with just a few minor suggestions at the end.

I am an EXTREMELY DIFFICULT user to please when it comes to technology...I have been in the industry for years (not cellular but rather systems administration and just generally a geek) and I settle for nothing less than the perfect product in most cases with regards to technology and as most everyone here can attest to, there is no perfect phone; especially not in the area of phones I now use, smartphones.

I bought my first smartphone, a Treo 650 a few years ago, shortly after they came out and returned it as in my opinion it was a PDA and a wannabe phone. Then with Verizon I bought the 700W when it first came out and was then...

The XV6800 is badass!

I got a chance to play with the 6800 at a VZW store last night. All I can say is that this will be my next phone.

So long, i760. You don't live up to the i730, and the 6800 beats you out!

Emergency wind up chargers

Just popping in. I just got home after helping the flood victims here in Washington, jumped online to get caught up and stumbled across an article about how many households are ditching their land lines for cell only. I read an interesting response about emergency wind up cell phone chargers, which I did not know existed. Just found it interesting thought I'd share. When there is absolutely no power source this could be a life saver. Anyone use one of these?

Voyager/i760

I've watched the discussion on these two phones over the past few months and now that both have been out I wanted to hear your opinions.

First big thing is e-mail. I know the Voyager doesn't have POP but that is fine as my work we can't use our cell phones for e-mail as they require BB's. I would be using my gMail. How is gMail on the Voyager compared to using IMAP or POP on the i760?

Also the WIFI issue. How is the speed of the internet on the Voyager and the navigating of the web on it? I wish it had wifi but I could probably live without it if the speed was good enough.

Than the other issue is how user friendly is it for navigating the web?

Do JAVA programs and GPS work well on it? I know VZQ has their navigator but ...

Returns question..

I was hoping someone who works at a VZW store could help me.

I bought a LG bluetooth headset from Verizon, and didn't like the way it fit my ear. So I took it back and swapped it for a Plantronics 655.

Now the Plantronics 655 fit great, and seemed to be an alright headset so I trashed the receipt.

Unfortunately the headset has lots of static with my U740 even when the phone is in my lap now..although not always when that close.

I was wondering if I can still take the headset back? I've only had it for about a week. I still have the original packaging, just not the receipt.

thanks

Got the Venus and...

Freakin love it! 😈
I don't use it for music or email or web, but this thing is perfect for me!

Went from EnV to this because I didn't want to whole flip keyboard blah and I loved the touch screen idea. Played with it for about 2 days before buying it and liked it a lot.

Decent call clarity, great tactile feedback, awesome screen. And calls made or continued when closed, small as it is, I loved that!

I just have one question... anyway to get this to sync with entourage / outlook? Hacking Im sure will be necessary.
