To all you complaining about speed of phone releases...

Compared to other carriers. Consider this, GSM is used in more countries than CDMA. If you were a phone manufacturer would you build a phone you can sell in 10 countries first or would you build one that you can only sell in 2? I'd go for the larger market first, wouldn't you?

CHILL OUT! Yes, VZW has a better network, but due to the nature of the wireless industry in other countries, the PHONE MANUFACTURERS are late to the CDMA party with new releases, it's NOT VZW'S fault! Sure, maybe they could push a little harder, but use a little common sense, sometimes it's not VZW's fault that they're second or third to get a new phone. How many BB's does VZW have that there isn't isn't a comparable GSM version that came out first? Not too m...

Mobile Web

In mobile web 2.0, it allows you to type in your own url and view the page (wap, of course). Does using your own urls add to the $5 a month charge? Or is it 5 dollars a month no matter how many times I go to phonescoop on my phone. I'm aware of how smartphones, depending on your plan, charges you per kb. Does 2.0 work similar to this? Thanks

Converting Family Plan to Individual Plans

Currently I have a Family Share Plan for my wife and I. I bought a Moto Q in June 06 w/ the 2 yr contract. In January of this year, my wife also upgraded to a Moto Q w/ 2yr contract. Now as I am just learning, it appears even though I have a 2 yr contract, I am eligible for a new phone 1 yr into the contract. My wife apparently has to wait out the full 2 years before she can get a new phone.

So now does that mean if I upgrade my phone now, it extends the contract for both of us 2 years from this date? In addition when she gets an upgrade in Jan 2009, does that extend my contract another 2 years from that date? So basically i am locked in to 2011 if my wife wants an upgrade in 09.

What I would really like to do is go back to the 1yr co...

switching to verizon

I will be switching to Verizon next month from Sprint and I am wondering a few things about which phones would be good for my wife and I.
My wife is set on the RAZR and I am wondering if it is as bad as people say it is. She is a novice cell phone user and rarely uses the camera, she just likes the way it looks. If not the RAZR what else is a good basic camera phone at a reasonable price.
I myself am looking for a good camera MP3 phone at a good price (not the RAZR if I can help it). I was looking at the Samsung U540 and am wondering if this is a good phone or not.

Also how is Verizon it the Chicago area and suburbs. Sprint has been ok for me my a job change requires me to have Verizon. Will the service be about the same or bett...

I feel like I am waiting to get playstation 2 or xbox meanwhile

Everyone else is getting Play Station 3's and Xbox360's.

We are all excited waiting for phones that have been on other networks for months.

Curve
VX6800
755p
Pearl
i760 (sooooo very ugly better hope it works flawlessly)
etc..

While others are getting
Tilt (gonna drop before we get the 6800)
second Curve
Iphone (whether you like it or not when was the last time there was a line at the Verizon store down the block)
etc..

People will no doubt mention phones on the horizon like the 10000 but that doesn't even have a release date and there is no telling when it will drop. It's not like the other carriers are inept depending on your area Verizon may not be the best. I mean it's not as if the other carriers are so bad you ca...

Verizon is going to stop the same old boring UI !!!!

Yup, just got word that VZW is going to allow fully customizable UI soon.......right after all the customers promise to stop calling in about how to change simple settings on their phone versus reading the freaking manual.

Seriously, do you not realize that the same UI allows the reps to walk a customer through the phone menu easier and that it helps customers transition from one phone to the next easier.

If you are that sick of it, it is YOUR fault!!! Take the time to become a hacker and software designer.......make your own UI and hack the phone. Keep in mind it will delete your warranty.

I regret leaving VZW for at&t.

Despite the UI and the Bluetooth crippling, VZW is clearly better than at&t.

Blackberry Suggestion

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone could give me a suggestion on a Blackberry. A friend of mine asked me to look into the 8830 World Phone, and on here it has a 4.1 rating, but there were some posts about call quality, for example, that I'm thinking may make it a bad decision.

I currently have the enV and love it (I know that's really no comparison), but I don't have experience with the blackberries. He would be able to get it for a discounted rate from his company, but it can be any blackberry - doesn't have to be the 8830. Is there one in particular that is VZW's best right now?

Thanks in advance!

T-Mobile Buys Suncom

http://www.reuters.com/article/businessNews/idUSWEB7 ... »

Wow, T-Mobile finally did an acquisition... another 1.1 million customers for them.

Bet ATT is upset that they'd didn't get to gobble 'em up first.

Internet access

Is it possible to browse the internet without the premium package and VPak? Can you download video content and navigation? What is the price to access them? I notice the premium package is only for a few phones.
Thanks.
