iPhone Doesn't Do Video; ATT's Network and EDGE Slammed

Both David Pogue (New York Times) and Walt Mossberg (Wall Street Journal) confirm that the iPhone doesn't record video. A really strange choice by Apple on a $600 phone. ☹️

Also, both reviewers dissed how slow ATT's EDGE network was, and both had criticisms of ATT's network in general. Mossberg didn't like that the iPhone was available for only one carrier, saying essentially that if you're not in an area with good ATT coverage, it doesn't matter how cool the iPhone is (obviously); while Pogue pretty much body-slammed the ATT network:

The bigger problem is the AT&T network. In a Consumer Reports study, AT&T’s signal ranked either last or second to last in 19 out of 20 major cities. My tests in five states bear this out. If ...

Data Prices

Why does verizon have the highest data prices? With Sprint it's only 15 bucks, why is verizon charging so much?

TIA

LG VX8550

Has anyone found any websites that show the new colors of this phone? I saw it was listed in Black, Black Cherry, and Blue Mint. I'm curious how these will look.

Why I'm Not Getting an iPhone
Tue Jun 26, 2007 7:06PM EDT

The iPhone hype is so intense right now, I think people will be buying this phone based on hype alone. I mean, is the phone really that great? Our duty is to keep you informed regarding details we come across, so the more I read about the iPhone, the less I want it.
At a glance, the device looks fantastic, features sound fun, and there's no doubt this phone is the "it" phone this year. But realistically, would you pay $500-$600 for any other phone? Like many of you, I'm still debating whether to buy an iPhone or not, so I've compiled a list of cons (since the pros are obvious) just to give myself a reality-check come Friday night.
Ӣ Price/Storage: Probably the biggest ...

ha iphone isn't all its talked up to be

so weird but the iphone can't send pic or video messages... and you can't put additional memory in it.... And to top it all off if something happens to it manufacture wise... you have to send the whole phone back to apple and wait for them to get the glitch out before the return it.....and if anyone owned an ipod at the beginning they know how often that happens.

Best EVDO Rev A card?

Hello!

I have a V620 card that is dying. It works for about half an hour and croaks. I want to get a new card and get one that will work with the Rev A technology.

Of the various cards for Verizon, is there a particular one that works better than the others, or are they all about the same?

Thank you!

LG 8600 Speakerphone: How Bad?

Hey all. I'm upgrading next month, and reading up on possible choices. The LG 8600 has caught my eye... but a lot of reviews for the LG 8600 say its a very good phone, but that its big achilles heel is the speakerphone. ☹️

This true, in your experience? I use speakerphone A LOT, so a phone that's good otherwise but has a suckass speakerphone is a no-go for me. Thanks for any light you can shed.

Samsung A990 or LG VX8300?

I have read several posts and several articles on the internet singing the praises of LG VX8300. I just read a bunch of reviews of it here on Phone Scoop and am impressed. Many people in 2006 called it the best phone that VZW has.

Question 1: How does the LG VX8300 compare with the Samsung SCH A990 for just the telephone end of it? (It is not fair to compare the cameras!) The most important thing about a phone is its ability to make a call and hold on to the signal, as well as voice quality. Everything else is secondary for me.

How do the speakerphones compare in both?
How does the BlueTooth sound compare in both?

Question 2: How is the Phone Book feature and how about Voice Dialing with it? With the Samsung A990 you just say the ...

VZW phone with absolute best reception?

My trusty Nokia 6256i is starting to flake out and I'm bummed. It's big, it's clunky, it's ugly, it has a lot of features I don't use, and it has the best reception I've ever seen or heard of. It drags in signals where nothing else does.

I want a phone with superb cell reception, 'cause I've been spoiled. I don't care about games, FM radios, MP3 players, video-on-demand, or surfing the web. … I want a phone that I can (almost) always make calls on. There are a couple of other features I'll take if I can get 'em - voice dialing, backing up my contact list, copying pictures to a PC, Bluetooth - but I'll give them all up if I can get a signal when I need to.

There's a bewildering variety of phones available on VZW's website... which cur...

Bluetooth-LG8300 Please Help!!!!!!

I recently purchased a bluetooth headset (Motorola 505) for my LG 8300 and was told that I could listen to the music that I have downloaded to the MP3 player through the bluetooth, however, I am unable to do so. I went back to Verizon where I was told that it was definitely possible with these two products they just didn’t (couldn't/wouldn't) know how to “unlock” the phone/bluetooth to make it work. I was also told that many of their products have features that the "Average Joe" is not able to access unless they are "unlocked" but because they work for Verizon they are not able to give me that info. One of the guys told to just buy the new headset (jabra) that has the opption to listen to music but I don't feel that I should have to if the ...
