VZN Sucks

So I called to get the Iphone. Currently a customer with 3 lines and paying $160 a month or so. I am not eligible for upgrade. (my problem) SO I figured I would just add a line to get my wife the Iphone. NO GO. Her incredible must have a data plan so I can't just add a line unless I want to pay $39 for an incredible to sit in the drawer. Last option. Full price $649. So they don't really want an existing good paying customer to get the Iphone. Great deal. Can't wait for my contract to be up so I can take my business elsewhere.

Turning off the 3G radio?

Hello. I have a Casio Ravine and I only use it to talk and text. I notice that when my phone is in standy-by mode the 1X signal is either weak or even weaker than 3G, but then when I place a call, the 1X signal becomes stronger.

My initial question is, since I don't use data, would it be possible to shut off the 3G radio on my phone and just let it transmit the 1X? I think if I just have 1X for voice and texting it would help my signal improve and my battery would last a little longer since it would only transmit for 1X and not both technologies. Is this even possible? I am still new to CDMA technology and how it works.

Thank you for your insight.

Ugh

I can't decide if waiting 4 months for the possibility of a new iPhone is worth it. It's impossible to predict Apple and I've given myself quite a headache reading everyones theories. $650 is a lot of money for something that could be obsolete so soon, but the Droid Incredible just isn't cutting it.

The point

http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/02/verizon-iphone-re ... »

"If you haven't caught the theme of this review, let us spell it out -- this is very much the iPhone 4 that people have come to know and love. It's not the next generation Apple device, it's not a wowee-zowee LTE experiment, and it isn't a revolution in mobile computing. What it is, however, is a big chance to give a large portion of America's smartphone users a crack at a phone they've likely been lusting after for some time." Endgaget

All I have been saying is to give consumers the option. Finally. no more 'When is Verizon getting the iphone?' posts. It took three years, but we finally made it.

Verizon network already crashed in Denver?

So I am hearing MANY reports that people in Denver, CO is having MANY problems. They cannot make calls, send OR recieve text and not use data. ALso, when they do get a text, it shows up about 15 times. Interesting.

Why is Verizon giving legacy Alltel customers the run around?

So people who are existing Verizon customers who are qualified to preorder an iphone, are now being told Facetime won't work because their plan is an Alltel plan. That makes absolutely no sense. I guess they trying to get them to switch to something higher priced and telling customers that if they want to get all the features they are going to have to pay more than what they currently pay AND take less minutes, even tho they are paying for the appropriate data plan already. How crappy.

Whos Rooted

Who here rooted their Android phone?

What Model & ROM are you running?

What is your favorite feature of said ROM?

I got the OG Droid running the most recent build of Bugless Beast.

Best battery life out of any ROM I have tested while also keeping the most stock look that I like.

Quick QUICK Tech question

Hi, I am wondering if Verizon will activate non VZN phones on your line. I am under contract, but really like the LG Vortex, but I notice Virgin Mobile offers the same phone, LG Optimus V, for a lesser price ($150)

Could I buy it from Virgin Mobile and have it activated on my Verizon account?

Don't hate a brotha for asking! 😉

Name came up on Caller ID

My son just called my land line from his Verizon Cell and his name and number came up on my caller ID.

Sense when do the names come up? This is the first time its happened. I called my own land line from my cell and mine still just says "cell phone" with the state.

Verizon Wireless customer service is great!

They gave me a courtesy $100 in addition to my NE2 upgrade discount + credit, since there is a discrepancy in the system. HTC Thunderbolt here I come.

Currently paying about $65 for 3 people. One downgraded to $15 data plan! And I get bonus free minutes!

I love Verizon Wireless.

Verizon iPhone 4 vs Droid X

So I've had the droid x since it came out, just received the verizon iphone 4 yesterday and well...I think it's going back; wanted to see if I'm missing something first.

The 2 reasons that the iphone is going back essentially add up to the droid being more functional.

1) Droid widgets, none existent on iphone
2) Native voice to text on droid, missing on iphone. All the app store options I found for iphone defeated the purpose (quick easy voice texting)

Aside from the cameras (mentioned below) there's nothing I can do on the iphone that I can't also do on the droid.

To me it just seems like if you care more about fashion, and/or music/media consumption etc then the iphone would be best for you, but if you want raw functionality...

Just received my Verizon iPhone

So...I have been waiting to get my iPhone. Just received it. Now I am in the process to activate it. Well, no luck so far. Everything seemed to work fine until the activation part. It failed, so it said to call 1-800-922-0204. I called it. They said to call it from a landline. I don't have another line to use. Then they said to try and dial *228 from the iPhone (with my old phone off, of course). Since this is an iPhone, the old fashioned *228 didn't work. I am one of millions who doesn't have a land line. Good luck to me to try and activate this phone. Wow, good start Verizon. Looks like I will have to wait to activate it when I get another phone on hand. Any one else have any problems?

Epik - Not a stupid question - Xoom

Would I be able to apply my NE2 + $100 with a XOOM!?

I'd rather get that since it's going to have the Android 3.0 Honeycomb!

Insurance on the Iphone? WTF

$11/month and $200 deductible? You are crazy if you pay that, and I hope you break it.
