RAZR at BestBuy!

A friend just called to tell me that they just received a shipment of RAZRs. Wonder when they are going to sell them. Oh well, just wanted to post that since the RAZR threads are starting to disappear ha! 😁

Best Phone for Reception

Hey everyone. I need some advice on a phone. I'm going to switch to Verizon from Sprint and I wanted to know which phone offered the best service. I know Verizon's service is excellent but some of my friends have Verizon and they get bad service in areas that others don't like certain parts of Downtown Manhattan. All in all, which phone would give me the best service for my buck. Thanks a lot everyone.

Any military spec or rugged type phones for Verizon?

I like the motorola i530 & i560 but they are iDEN phones. It seems like this type of phone would be popular. I would really like a phone that is hard to break.

Insurance exchange

I have a friend who has the Audiovox 8910. He has insurance on the handset and it is not working properly. What would VZW replace this with? Would it be possible to get a Samsung 950 instead?

Verizon Press Release: RAZR Don' Got OBEX

Bluetooth – Capable: Supports the Headset and Hands-free Profiles. Does not support Bluetooth OBEX Profiles.

Sry gunny.. guess my skepticism wuz justified. ☹️

(tho'.. there is a rumor that VZW screwed up an' the first batch of RAZRs shipped out DID have the obex, accidentally. Maybe if you get there the first day [an' avoid any firmware updates] you might get an obex razr anyway? )

Hey! How come Alltel's got the RAZR?

Im surprised at seeing that Alltel (a Tier 2 carrier) got the RAZR before VZ.... (I have just noticed this BTW)
How long have they had it?
Does Alltel cripple BT (OBEX) too?
When I had Vzw I remember thinking that Alltel was better than Vzw, because everythime I was roaming I'd dial 611 and I'd be roaming with Alltel, or rarely with Sprint.
There's a reliable network for you....

Deposit question

I have 5 lines with Cingular at the moment. They are all out of contract. I was looking into porting them over to verizonwireless. Can anyone tell me what kind of deposit levels there are? With cinglar 2.5 years ago I would have had a $300 per line but as a employee they waived them . My credit is so so. Just checking before making the trip down to my local store and waiting in linethere. wanted to get a feel to see if i will be shocked. thank you in advance

Hey Fo'syth.. guess I was right about the RAZR Price

From the Verizon Press Release:

Availability
The Motorola RAZR V3c retails for $199.99 after $100 rebate and a two-year customer agreement
.

Toldja they wouldn' sell it fo' $400 w/a contract or whatever madness you wuz speculatin'. That woulda been a good way to kill RAZR sales stone dead, 'cept fo' the crazies. ☹️

8100 vs. Razr

Ok let me start by saying I didn't see a discussion that compared these two phones before someone yells and tell me there is one. I'm just asking the general question, which is the better way to go? I love LG's so the 8100 is a good choice but I'm curious about the Razr. My main concerns are reception, a clear screen and a good camera. Just the basic things, I don't know a whole lot about technology. Just looking for some advice, not to be insulted like someone always seems to do. Thanks for any help you might offer.

SMV Codec

Does anyone know when (or if) Verizon plans to deploy the new SMV CDMA codec? If they have already, what new phones use it? Thanks!

VX9800 or Sidekick

I have never really wanted a verizon phone even with tmobiles selection until the Vx9800,but the streaming media service is not available at my school. Is the 9800 really worth it then, will i be able to still search the net and send and receive email like the sidekick. I would really like to know more about the device and verizon because at this time t-mobile is kind of boring just like the prices some of the phones.

Verizon - LG-VX8100

I am posting this message for some guidance. I am currently a Cingular customer for about 1 yr. My contract is up on 12/06 and I am thinking about switching to Verizon. I am interested in the LG VX8100 with all the bells and whistels (VCAST included).

I wanted to see if anyone else that has Verizon has any comments about that particular phone.

Also, is that VCAST service worth the $15 per month? I've always been a Nokia/Samsung guy, but don't know too much about LG and their quality and reception.

Only thing about Verizon I don't like is no Rollover minutes. Also, what's the scoop on CDMA vs. GSM? Is there a clear cut winner???

Any comments would be appreciated.

New service on a non-E911 StarTac?

The StarTac (mine is the 7868W) seems to have been the last "industrial strength" phone from Motorola or anyone else -- please let me know if I am mistaken. (Almost) all cell phones today are designed to be disposable and are very fragile.

I'd like to have a cell phone, like my 7868W (I have a used and a NIB ones) that are indestructable basic phones without all the bells and whistles that come standard on phones these days. Even the 7868W has a few unnecessary features.

Since the StarTacs are non-911, I wonder if I can sign up for a Verizon plan, preferably one with a free phone, then have VZW switch my account to the StarTac, and sell or give away the free phone.

Is it possible for Verizon customers to find out what is in their notes?

I feel like everytime a Verizon employee tells me, well, let me look in your notes. I feel like that seinfeld episode when elaine goes to the doctors office.
