(Re)New Contract vs. New Every Two

I'm confused between Verizon's "New Every Two" and just renewing a contract.

This is what is posted in my account: "Eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing on 9/21/10. Eligible for New Every Two discount on 2/02/11. If you prefer, you can upgrade today at full retail price. Your contract end date is 06/02/10".

My ultimate goal is to get a Driod, but I don't know "when" I can do that (besides just buying it at full price/on ebay).

So it says my contract expires June; so if I get a phone from say, Newegg, Amazon, or Walmart where the phone requires a new contract, do I qualify? OR what is the difference between "new two year activation" and simply renewing the existing contract?

Verizon 3G/CDMA femtocell

Ok after digging around the internet I found out that Verizon is in fact getting a 3G femtocell! If you live in spotty area this is great news.

It's made by Samsung and looks alot better than the 2G Network Extender. Same color and size but looks more modern and of course has 3G.

Here's the copy/paste of the news article:

Verizon's current Wireless Network Extender is cool and all, but it's got one huge Achilles' heel: it only does 1X data, which is pretty egregious by 2010 standards (or 2007 standards, for that matter). Enter Samsung's revised 'combo' femtocell, so named because it offers both 1X and EV-DO service simultaneously. It's got support for up to eight connections -- up from the original unit's four -- and sports a decid...

Thanks Guys

I just wanted to take the time and say thanks for opening my eyes to that company Lets Talk...I almost made a mistake and upgraded my line thru them. Now I read somewhere that the Droid Eris is going to hitting the End Of Life Cycle....does that mean no more support or no more software upgades? I am now toying around with getting the Moto Droid...It's a sweet phone as I've played with it extensively....Thanks all take care

Eris 2.1 update & Incredible (rumors?)

I read on the Verizon Android forum about a couple pieces of info a guy got outta Verizon. The Eris 2.1 update is looking like the end of April at the latest, and the Incredible is still being tested by HTC but needs to be finished by June. Verizon also has not actually committed to selling the Incredible, and if they do won't guarantee it'll be available as an upgrade. This info was under a Incredible update thread & towards the end. Now I don't know how reliable this guy is or if this is the kinda thing that normally happens when releasing a phone (commit to sell & upgrade availability) but I figured I'd put it here to let ya know what's being said over there. Not saying 100% true, don't kill the messenger!

So, what news on the Incredible?

Still waiting for a confirmed sighting eh? I figured Vz was waiting to finish their BOGO before making any new moves; with the rumors starting up it should be only a matter of time (short I hope). This promises to be one sweet phone for Vz. Not the Evo mind you but still nice!!

Verizon Disney Commercial

What nerve they have! Verizon reception inside the park absolutley blows. And guess what cellular service they use-- Nextel. What good is America's largest 3G network when you can't even use it inside your motel room? Ha ha. Another Toyota.

verizon monthly prepaid plans?

Ok, so now that verizon has monthly prepaid plans, for just 5 dollars more, I was told I have to pay retail for a phone, which is fine.. But then I was told I couldn't use a env3 due to the new policy where they require a data plan I couldn't use it on a prepaid monthly plan.. Sooo my question is, would I be able to you an env2? I need to know.. So anyone who works with vzw, feel free to answer 🙂

Could someone explain unlocked phones...?

I have always been told to say "no" when asked if unlocked phones are compatible with the VZW network. But I have never been given a legitimate reason as to why they are not compatible with our network. 😕 Why is this? Or what are the unlocked phones that are compatible with the VZW network (for my personal knowledge)?

Thank you!

Whopping 25% Increase In Monthly Cost

Count me as one of the many thousands of Verizon subscribers who are angry about the screwing we got on January 18th when the mandatory $9.99 per month data package was imposed on what used to be considered very basic phones. Some marketing genious at Verizon rechristened the category 3G Multimedia for no reason other than rate increases.

This means that if, when it dies, I chose to replace my LG enV² VX-9100 with a virtually identical enV³ VX-9200 it will cost me an additional $120 per year for each of my two lines. I.e. $240 per year for absolutely no benefit, since the $1.99 per MB is more than enough for my infrequent needs and my wife never uses the web on her phone at all. However, we both find occasional texting much more ...

Wifi tethering on the Palm pixi/pre plus now free?

I know.. I know.. april first..

But engadet is reporting it, and I guess if you go through the online chat it will show up? (still trying to do this part) but the prices are insanely low and Vzw isn't the type of company to make "joke" prices.

Can anyone at corp/gets email updates confirm this?

I know the pre wasn't doing well... but DANG... this is an insane change for them.. maybe they'll loosen the grip on tethering for other devices? (wishful thinking I know)

Verizon Iphone

Question: How many people do you all think will jump ship with AT&T and come to verizon once they get the iPhone?

This is just a question, I am neither for or against AT&T or Verizon. The only reason I ask is because of all the complaints that consumers currently have with the iPhone running on AT&T's network.

My VZW Story

I had the Moto Droid on my account in February with the unlimited data package. I changed devices to an old non-smartphone and asked rep for data block. When my bill arrives, I am charged for data per MB on days that I had the non-smartphone active. Asked VZW why. They say that the data usage is from February but delayed in billing. I told them that I had unlimited data when used and this is unfair and I should get credit. VZW said no. 😲 Did something like this happen to you guys? Can anyone help?

Help with buying first smartphone

I'm looking at getting my first smartphone, but am having trouble deciding. I've had bad experiences with touchscreens in the past (friends' Dare and EnV Touch - maybe resistive touchscreen was the problem). When I test them I try to text something fairly quickly and see how close it came out. I tried the Storm2 (better accuracy with Surepress maybe?), Moto Droid, HTC Droid Eris, and the Imagio. I am not a business user so the Blackberry and WinMo platforms probably wouldn't be the best for me, and the S2 didn't seem very accurate anyway. That leaves the Droid and the Eris. When I tried the texting test the Moto Droid seemed a lot more accurate and moving through the menus the Droid seemed more stable (Eris seemed a little more jittery) so I...

smartphones

I really want to get a smartphone, but am not eligible for an upgrade yet. My business cell phones are on a Sprint plan which is over. My question is , can I get a smartphone on a new business plan with Verizon and then activate on my personal plan and transfer a phone over to the business account?
