Real BlackBerry OS 6.0 Images and Details Emerge!!!

Real BlackBerry OS 6.0 Images and Details Emerge!!!
By Kevin Michaluk | 20 Apr 2010 10:44 | 93 comments

WooHOO!! A first REAL look at BlackBerry OS 6.0. The Boy Genius got some screen captures and a tour of the updated and evolving OS 6.0 from an AT&T connect and has reported back with lots of details. Things are looking very promising for us BlackBerry users who have been waiting patiently (err... impatiently) for both a first real glimpse at OS 6.0 and for its ultimate release. Here are some of the key details:

•As expected, it's an evolution of the existing BlackBerry OS
•RIM has implemented kinetic scrolling with rubber banding throughout the OS (more fluid experience)
•RIM has implemented multitouch th...

for all you 4G junkies out there

The boadcast technology used is only 1 of 4 factors that determine the speed of a connection. Having 4G does NOT mean that you have faster speeds than 3G just cause you use a boadcast technology capable of supporting higher speeds.

You need enough T1 lines to process those internet speeds, without them you have a bottle neck.

A wireless N router is rated at 300 mbps, but if you have a dial up connection you connect at dial up speeds regardless of the broadcast speed of your router.

also you need enough transponders on your towers to process all you requests.

AT&T has the largest number of active smartphones on their network, over 3 times that of verizon, who is second. (thus the jealousy expressed in their negative ads against a...

Apparently Verizon CAN handle heavy traffic data:

Just an interesting read showing that last year Verizon (and Sprint) handled more data on their network than ATT.

Android phone vs iPhone on Verizon

OK..I have around 10 months before I can change phones, so naturally I'm obsessing about it now. 😛
Anyhow, let's pretend for a minute that all the planets align correctly and Verizon picks up both the iPhone and the Nexus One (hopefully subsidized). Given that I don't have any real experience with either phone, which one do you think will be the better device on Verizon? I know the iPhone is getting pretty dated compared to the sexy new Nexus One, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a "new" iPhone by that time. Any input?

Best phone for Verizon?

What is the best phone right now that Verizon carries? I know everyone is talking about Verizon getting the IPHONE (which I'd love to have), but currently I have the STORM 2 and just cannot deal with the touch screen keypad. My son just got the DROID and so far, so good. He says the keypad took a little getting used to but he is used to it after only a week. I've had the storm 2 for 6 months!

SO, if you could give me your opinion on what the best device is for Verizon at the moment, I'd appreciate it! THANKS!

I keep hearing 29.99 a month and looking for facts

Hi everyone I keep hearing that the smartphone plans cost 29.99 a month for data. But I can never find out what the actual smartphone (Blackbery plans) cost a month? For example how many mins are in the plans does it inc txt msg and so forth? My wife and I have a 4 line family plan. We are considering getting a smartphone for 2 of the lines and continue the 2 9.99 dumbphones for the other 2 lines with just the txt msg feature. We currently pay 200 a month with taxes inc. I was wondering if we could do the afforementioned for about the same price or will it cost WAY too much extra. Any input anyone can add to help me would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.

When do the remaining Alltell stores convert to VZW?

So I'm visiting the family in Colorado, when do the remaining Alltel stores convert to VZW corporate stores? My parents are tired of driving 30 miles to the nearest VZW corp store when there is an existing Alltel store in their own town.

I know there is that whole FCC mandate that some of the Alltel stores had to remain, but when does all that end?

Anyone with the HTC Droid?

If you have a the HTC Droid and have really bad battery life, it may just e a bad battery. Me and my wife both have these phones. We have had them for less than two months. She was getting twice the life as I was with the same usage. So I called Verizon and they said take it to the Verizon store and they will give you a new batter. I did and its like night and day. I an not ties to a charger anymore. I would have not know that the short battery life was not normal if my wife did not have the same phone. So anyone out there that can only get a few text and about an hour at best without the battery being gone, you probably just need a new battery.

BB Tour vs. TP2?

so i gave up the wait for the bb tour2/bold and got my dad an htc tp2. he loves the phone, especially the great keyboard (hands down the best i've ever used)...but coming from a dumbphone, i'm not sure he feels it's a keeper. is the blackberry OS much easier to get used to than winmo 6.5? besides outlook, i've managed to get his other email accounts pushed to the handset every 30 minutes...so at least that's taken care of. any other smartphone suggestions would have to be global ready. any thoughts? thanks.

blackberry vs moto droid email

ok..I am spoiled with the "always on " email on my storm. We want to switch to the moto droid next month for our NE2. Will the moto droid have the same feature as the storm or how does email work.I get moderate volume from my cox and gmail accounts so this is kinda important before we go into a corp store..Also what are the thoughts on the Omnia II...

Verizon is BRILLIANT!!!!!!

Yep they are I'm paying more for my cell service now because I refuse to pay $10 for dumb phone data. I'm not going to port away to sprint to save a little money and be weary of their service. I don't want prepaid and be left high and dry if something goes wrong. Yep I'll stay because verizon is the best carrier in my area, and I'll pay more.

They got me! They ARPU will go sky rocket, and the few cry babies will go to boost or buy basic simple feature phones.

On a side note the wife and I are happy with our new smart phones, and don't mind continuing on supporting Verizon.
