Insurance and Phone Question

I was wondering if i bought a phone off of craigslist or eBay is there any way i can transfer the insurance over to it?

Also i currently have the enV Touch and the resetting of the phone (turning off and on) is really getting on my nerves, are the Dare or the Voyager phones anything like the internet that the Touch has? I'm picky with it being the exact same way lol I'm sorry. But i just need an honest answer.

Congrats Verizon

Wireless telecom provider Verizon (NYSE: VZ) has been trouncing AT&T (NYSE: T) for months in surveys of customer satisfaction and loyalty. But a recent survey by ChangeWave Research shows dropped calls are a growing problem for AT&T. Even Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S) and T-Mobile — a subsidiary of Deutsche Telecom (NYSE: DT) — could see gains as customers think of leaving AT&T over the network troubles.
Specifically, a March survey of 4,040 smartphone customers was conducted by ChangeWave Research, InvestorPlace.com’s consumer polling and research division. In it, Verizon customers reported only 1.5% of their calls being dropped over the past three months, the lowest in the smartphone industry. This is also the lowest percentage...

Buying a Netbook in store

Hey guys - I am in something of an odd situation. My family is traveling Monday morning from Louisville KY to McComb MS due to a family emergency (my mom-in-law is in critical condition in ICU).

Here's my question... As I do not have time to wait for an online purchase to arrive, I need to buy the netbook in house locally. However, it seems I can only get the immediate discount by buying online.

Is there anyone in my local store who has the authority to give me the rebate immediately given my situation?

Thanks guys in advance for your help. Ya'll are an awesome resource.

New to Verizon, is this cammon?

So I have a 6 week old HTC Droid and it has a few problems so I take it back to the Verizon store and they tell me that they are going to send me a replacement. A few days latter I get a refurb phone to replace my brand new six week old phone. I dont like having bought a brand new phone to have only had is six weeks and now get stuck with a refurb. The worst part is that the phone they sent had way more problems than the one it replaced and yes they are going to replace it again with another refurb.

My Thoughts on the Droid Incredible...

So, I had to stop in and play around the new HTC Incredible today. With the bar for the Android Super phones continuing to be raised, the Incredible is next line to hold the crown of best Android phone on the market (atleast till the EVO 4G comes out for Sprint).

But can the incredible really stack up against the moto droid and nexus one? Here are some of my quick thoughts after a solid 20 minutes of playing around with the device.

Thoughts are in no particular order....

-Screen: The AMOLED screen is pretty fantastic, didn't get to play too much with the animated backgrounds, but Im sure they will look fine on that screen. I have heard of a lot of issues reading AMOLED screens in bright sun, but there were zero issues in the ve...

Tell me this?

Why can,t the carrier sell the phone for the same price or less than places like Lets Talk. I know that they sell them for less than they pay and make a commission back from the carrier, but why don,t the carrier sell them for the same low price since they would not have to pay a commission to a third party?

Beating A Dead Horse

I know this has been discussed a thousand times but does anyone know when VZ will roll out the Bold/Tour 2/BB 9650? I know that Sprint has announced it for May and I've heard talk that VZ will also. My Curve is at the end of the line and I don't want to get a Tour 1 and then see a new device roll out 31 days later.

Thanks for your help.

Need Some Help From You Guys

I have had a Lg Dare for about two years now. And I have been out of contract for one year.

I don't travel more than 90 miles from my home area, so coverage is not an issue. And the top four carriers work great here.

I have been a Verizon customer for about 7 years now, and the company has been flawless. I was thinking about getting the Droid, but there isn't anyone near me that owns one. But, I know a lot of people who own the Iphone and love it. I check my email several times a day on my Lg Dare, and I have grown tired of the tiny screen.

Since I have been on here, I never see much of anything in the apps for the Droid, but I see a ton of useful apps for the Iphone.

Does the Droid have an easier learning curve tha...

Keyboards: Physical vs Virtual

I see the old debate between physical and virtual keyboards is still alive and well. The latest discussions seem to center around the Moto Droid and the HTC Incredible. Here's the way I see it: It's all in what you get used to. I totally understand why some people prefer a physical keyboard. I get it. But I don't like them. They make the phone thicker, they make the phone feel cheaper because of the "play" at the hinge or slider, and I find some are just plain hard to type on.

My current phone is a LG Dare. I have gotten so used to typing on it's virtual keyboard that I have zero problems with it. My wife (who has a LG env2) can't stand typing on my phone. She's not used to it.

The way I see it, since anyone can get used to ...

A Case Study In Retail Markup (The Full Post)

I had made the contention that the iphone has higher subsidy a lower retail markup than other phones. While the verizon website does list some phones as having a retail price of over $500, I contend that these phones have a much higher retail markup than that of the iphone.

I present:

The Motorola Droid

Listed Retail Price.....$559.99

Price w/ 2 year.........$299.99

Online Price............$199.99

For Comparison:

The Motorola Droid ala Wirefly

Wirefly Price........19.99

What does this mean?

A Case Study In Retail Markup

What does this mean?

Wirefly pays more than $19.99 for these phones. When an authorized retailer sells a line Verizon reimburses their subsidy on the phone plus a commission after the return period is over.

Lets say that wirefly paid the retail price of $560, and they charged their customers $20 and Verizon reimbursed the subsidy listed on their website of $350. That would mean wirefly would lose $180 on every droid they sell minus their commission. What is more likely is that the additional $180 the consumer is paying on the Verizon site is pure retail markup.

So if we subtract the difference in consumer responsibility from the retail price, that brings the wholesale cost down to at most $379.99. Subtract the consumer respons...

Im back Verizon thanks to the $49.99 data plan for my Mifi

Im back Verizon thanks to the $49.99 data plan for my Mifi, I left Verizon for Tmobile however
I just got my Ipad and I was looking for internet service to connect on the road to and I wanted to go with Verizon sorry AT&T but Verizon has coverage everywhere, I found a great deal for Verizon and its even called Verizon49, I got my data card and service from http://3gstore.com/lease

Here is the kicker 3gstore offered me the data service with no contract no credit check, and on the Verizon Wireless Network for $49.99 that is lower than buying from Verizon itself, It's one of the lowest price out in the market and now I am able to connect, Oh yeah....2.1 Mbps download Oh yeah... 🙂

the future of PALM...

I just bought my Palm Pixi Plus on April 17th and I LOVE it. I really couldn't be happier with my device. However I am concerned about the future of the Palm line of products. I know HP just bought Palm but I read somewhere that they mainly purchased Palm for the WebOS... So my question is what is this going to mean for the current Palm product owners? I want to know what this means I terms of future support and accessory availability...

I personally think that the WebOS is amazing and had Palm not went with those disturbing commercials they would have seen better sales and possibly NOT been in this position at all... But it is what it is... But where does that leave me in a year?

Question for Verizon Reps

So I'm looking at possibly getting back into the wireless industry and I'm considering applying for a Sales position with VZW. I worked previously in wireless with a different company for several years and I have a few questions.

I would be applying at a corporate store that is in the top tier of performing stores. How are commissions paid and what on average, can one expect to make for commission each month??

I have heard that the commission structure and the way it's paid has changed for the worse, is this true??

I also understand that hourly wages can vary on geographic location, but what does a sales rep make hourly in a midwestern location??

Thank you in advance for any input you all can provide!!

Please explain this all of your friendly, helpful Verizon reps out there.....

Please explain whether or not they actually train you to say these things belittling the competition. And before any of you start saying this blogger "just hates Verizon and it's high prices" remember he WAS a 10 year customer.....I'm just curious about your thoughts! 😁

Question for Verizon Experts....

So...

Is EV-DO backward compatable with CDMA IS-95 and CDMA 1x?

Does verizon run a legacy network (seperate transponders on each tower) for the older standard?

Do EV-DO phones have to be dual band for the older standards?

How many transponders need to be on a towers in urban areas?

the reason i ask....

I live in the midwest and the towers look like they have not been updated in quite some time.

They have what appears to be aluminum antenas on the top, some of them have the modern transponders (they look like a perfectly round satellite dish in reverse) many of them do not. Some of these towers that have the aluminum antenna only are verizon towers. Now i've heard that 100% of the network is EV-DO, is is possible to br...

Pandors and data use . . .

Hi . . . I tried Pandora for the first time on my Droid. A warning message came up about the large amount of data this application uses (probably because of the songs streaming) and to check with your provider for fees.

If I'm on Verizon with unlimited data (which is what the plans says) do I need to be concerned?

thx

Droid performance with 2.1 upgrade

Anyone else's Moto Droid's performance go down with the 2.1 update? 😕

My data speed seems to be more susceptible to low coverage areas or it's ability to pull in a signal has gone down.
The back, top of the phone seems to heat up more during above mentioned periods.
Scrolling just isn't quite as smooth.
And battery life seems worse.

Any way to go back to 2.0.1?
