Verizon IPHONE chatter is getting harder (than usual) to ignore
By Chris Ziegler posted May 7th 2010 3:49PM

FeatureAlright, stop us if you've heard this one before -- but seriously, we've noticed an uptick on the tip lines here at Engadget in the last couple weeks that's becoming difficult to ignore. It's one thing to say "hey, the IPHONE is launching on Verizon," but we're noticing a particular confluence of facts that has us intrigued: it'll drop sometime in Summer, possibly in concert with the announcement that Verizon's first commercial LTE networks have gone live, and -- tread carefull...

Home screen icons disappear . . .

Anyone else see this; where your home screen shortcuts or icons just disappear during use??

I have the Moto Droid; 2.1. It happened a few times now in the past few months (not often), but happened twice today. I'm using the Messaging app or a game app, go back to Home and it's blank except for my background image. You can flip up and gain access to all the apps and everything works but the home screen is blank.

Only way to fix is to turn off, power down, and restart.

Any ideas?

No noise cancellation on the HTC Incredible

So I guess the Incredible won't have the same dual mic set up as the N1. ☹️
That sucks because everyone I know with an HTC phone pick up allot of background noise.

Iheartradio

Anyone know how to fix the iheartradio app on the 8530? It stutters used to be one of my favorite apps on my storm.

opinions needed for palm pre plus

in a recent conversation with verizon customer service, they offered me an early upgrade to the pre/pixi plus (my NE2 isn't for another 4 months, they really are trying to get rid of them lol). while the android OS intrigues me, i'm not quite sold on it yet. webOS just seems so much more polished.

the only thing i'm not so fond of is the tiny keyboard, granted as a woman, i do have smaller fingers...it just seems extremely small coming from sideways keyboards. are there any distinct advantages webOS has over android? i pretty much understand the advantages from the android POV. thanks!

V860 Question

I posted this on the forum for the phone Monday but still no replies so I thought I'd try here.
Is there a way to disable the music that plays when you turn it on or off?

Microsoft Kin

Just wanted to see how many people here have looked into it.

I was able to get a brief hands on a few days ago. Between the two, I preferred the Kin Two.. but I like bigger phones.

Build quality is pretty good (I would say high end feature phone) and the OS is simply AMAZING at what it does, at least for the time I was using it. Streaming friends updates, uploading pictures, sharing content with the "Spot" (though dirty jokes come to mind.. oh, I'll just put her in my kin spot")

I really liked the Online portion of the device. The website was really responsive, well laid out, and had some nifty features (such as sending pictures from your PC to your phone OTA)

Browser was a pretty big let down.. but there are a lot of peopl...

Phone Help and Advice

Hey guys with my phone resetting like crazy LG is going to repair the phone at their factory, they did say that if the probs won't resolve itself after the repair or the refurb ones then they can give me a different phone. Does this sound like its worth it or no?

Also i was thinking about buying an LG Dare phone thru ebay or craigslist but my only problem is i do not think the asurion will carry over, would you guys worry about it so much yourself?

Need a phone with good reception

I am in a mountainous rural area -- meaning few towers but lots of line of sight issues.

I need a new phone. I need good reception. Verizon will tell you that all the phones are the same... bull. We have 5 phones is this house and they all get different coverage. The blackberry curve gets the best, but I'm not interested in that one.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

My sister is looking to replace an LG VX-4650 with a good basic phone that is easy to use and gets great reception. I was thinking of the Moto W755 from Best Buy.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Question regarding feature phone data requirement

forgive me if this has already been answered (i did a quick search, but couldn't find it), if a feature phone is acquired through a non-store purchase, is the 9.99 data still required to activate it?

Rumor-Verizon-working-on-IPHONE-ad-blitz-for- this-summer

Well, I just couldn't resist lol. And I'm shocked, just shocked that Scotty hasn't posted this yet. Over at BGR their running with this story, very interesting:

Take this with a handful of salt pills…according to a hot new rumor, Verizon has tapped advertising firm Landor Associates to handle a summer advertising blitz for the launch of a CDMA iPhone.

It seems perhaps Scott may get his IPHONE after all, wouldn't that be great!! Then we lay to rest all of those G*d damn rumors once and for all and get back to arguing about phones. With all brands in one place at last (except for SE and Nokia) we could have some real honest choices for once.

Upgrade Question

I am due for an upgrade now and want the Incredible however being out of work has put my account into a 2-3 month hole of sorts, would there be any way shape or form that Verizon would allow me to upgrade or would they want my account up to date first?

Thanks

Question about Voyager, Dare and Possibly Replacement

Hey i needed to know, between functionality wise which one is better the Voyager or the Dare phone, im looking for a phone that has a full html web browser but also at the same time so the phone doesn't reset itself after going on the web browser so many times. Also is the Dare's virtual keypad good? Im just a bit effy about the all touch keypad thing.

Also my enV Touch phone has been driving me nuts where it constantly resets on me for web browsing or almost any other random thing going on. If i try to get another update or get a refurbished phone will it correct the problem? Because i am hearing bad reports saying the replacement refurbished ones are worst than the original mint factory condition one.

Need New Phone-Help Please

My contract is almost up. I am looking for a phone with good sound quality on the phone and speaker, good reception and that is bluetooth compatible. It would be great if it had a long battery life too. Can't afford all the bells and whistles-just want good sound and as little tech problems as possible.
Thanks so much for your help.
