Dead Zone Doldrums Test Skills of iPhone Customers

By PAUL BOUTIN

Owners of iPhones know that their love for Steve Jobs’s touch-screen marvel comes at a price. The iPhone’s cellular coverage, provided exclusively by AT&T Wireless, is notoriously spotty. In some parts of New York and San Francisco, it’s impossible to connect.

If you go for a dim sum lunch at Yank Sing restaurant on the edge of the financial district in San Francisco, you are likely to miss calls from the office. Some owners can’t use their iPhones in their own homes. Even...

To anyone waiting on the iphone

I have had all three iphones, and guess what? They are not that great. The first two could not even do MMS or copy past. No flash on the little 2mp camera. Also apple sees to it that the only way to get custom ringtones is through itunes for $1.99 and then it will only let you make the ringtone if the song was bought through itunes, with the android phones you can get FREE apps that will let you make ringtones out of any song that you have on your phone. I know some of you think the iphone is king, but have any of you ever owned one? You have to jail break the stupid things just to have a little freedom with your own phone. I am sorry but the iphone is not all that at all, and AT&T's network is not that great either. That's why I am now with...

Where some of the "Wimax is not 4G" confusion comes from

I believe that some of the confusion concerning whether or not Wimax is a 4G technology comes from the fact that Wimax is an evolution from 802.11-series Wifi technology. Wimax is technically known as IEEE 802.16, and it a logical upgrade from 802.11b wifi technology. In a sense, Wimax moves a signal beyond Wifi's 100m limitations out to a distance of 50km with similar speeds as Wifi.

As such, Wimax is technically a 2G evolution from Wifi.

The fact that it's being implemented onto mobile phones and not just mobile Internet cards and wireless WAN/LANs is what throws some people off. But if we accept this confusion, we also should start referring to phones with Wifi as being capable of 1G technology and/or speeds, too.

Where LTE ma...

Transfer Name on the Account

Situation: GF and I are on a family share plan which contract is up in July. We added another line a year later so when our lines are up we still have another year for the 3rd line. She is now moving away and I want to keep my line and the 3rd line on the same account.

Problem: Her name is on the account as the primary. We want to go our seperate ways at the end of our contract and I want to keep my line and the 3rd line together on a account. I really don't want to renew my line either until later in the year when a particular phone comes out. Any way to do this?

Thanks in advance to those who will help

Got 4 new phone but still have my alltel priced account.

I thought they would want me to change my plan to a verizon family plan. I was told I had to get the 25 meg charge per phone, but I just activeted them online and did not have to change anything. My bill is still 119$ a month for 4 lines. Did I slip though the cracks or will the man find out. Let me know. Thanks for any info. As far as I can tell I still have my old alltel 69 dollar 1000 min plan going.

Google cancels Nexus One for Verizon

https://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=5866 »

They suggest buying the Incredible instead.

Almost sounds like some corporate arm twisting was involved. That or the device wasn't panning out as well as they'd hoped and figured they'd sell Incredibles over Nexus 10 to 1.

Will VZ let you activate a prepaid phone on a postpaid account?

Hello- Since my phone is dying before Verizon will let me buy a new one at the discounted price, I bought an Accolade VX-5600 on EBay, but got the prepaid instead of the postpaid version. Does anyone know if the prepaid version can be activated and used on a postpaid account? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

No more "I moved outside of coverage" to waive ETF

I'm getting indication that Verizon will not waive ETFs for people moving outside of coverage area starting today. No other details yet.

I don't agree with this, personally, but I do feel that some people abuse the old policy too often. I'm perfectly ok with having to show that I'm outside of coverage, but people come into the store all the time to cancel BEFORE they move out of coverage. I feel that if you're going to claim you're moving somewhere outside of coverage, you should prove that you're living in that area by actually living there, bills and all.

Droid Incredible??

Hello, I'm a new member, didn't even realize this board existed. Where have I been? OK, I can upgrade and like the Incredible. I've never had a Smartphone and don't really need to have data, but I would like to use the web and especially like the camera at 8MP's.
Questions:
-does anyone know how long a video it will record?
-somewhere I read video playback wasn't good?
-the price right now is $99, do you think it will be less or free once it's released?

Thanks

Just PAY the extra MONEY!!!

Jesus these cheap customers acting like they're broke! If you have a cell phone you have MONEY! Don't tell you that you don't have an extra $20 in a month 🙄 Please. I think we all agree that anyone who is paying the extra $10 bucks on a dumbphone doesn't have all their faculties, so just pay another $20 and enjoy everything Verizon has to offer!! Yes you have the money, you have a cell phone! you drove here in a car! you have a roof over your head, you're going to have a nice dinner tonight! Yes you have the damn extra $20 bucks!

Message Feature Add On

Hopefully someone can explain this to me. When I go in to My Account to change a phone I am prompted to add a 250 message bundle or else pay $.20 for each message. This is all fine and good except I am already on the Nationwide Talk N Text. In my features it shows unlimited text and mms. Why am I prompted to add this feature? 😕
