A question about the Motorola V 710

I understand that the V 710 uses the same charging port as did previous Motorola models which had problems with the charging port malfunctioning. Does anyone know whether Motorola strengthened the charging port on the V 710, or is it likely that this model will experience the same problems as did other recent Motorola models?

Ringtone Games

Has anyone found a way to load ringtones and games without going through Brew onto your handset? If so, what handset do you have?

Verizon Wireless today began offering the Samsung SCH-A790 to consumers. The A790 is Verizon's first world phone, and the first phone in the world to include both CDMA and GSM technologies in one phone. The A790 uses Qualcomm's MSM6300™ chipset. The phone was first offered to business customers in late May. The A790 is available at Verizon Wireless retail stores for $349.99 with a two-year contract.

Thanks Verizon Guru(s)

Thanks guys (and gals??) for replying back. I'd read in the WSJ a couple of weeks ago that analog has to be "supported" until 2-18-2008 per the FCC rules and regulations, but obviously new phones don't have to have it incorporated and the article never fully explained all the possible ways "supported" could be technically done.

I'm all for the new generation of phones and features. I just don't want to end up with a phone that's so advanced it can interface with my car's computer (just saying) but leave me wrapping aluminum foil around my arms and head trying to boost signal to get a call through. People in the country are strange enough without giving city folks more to talk about 😉

I will probably make a change in plans (c...

Voice Mail

Is it true that Local plans with Verizon don't come with free voice mail?

Hey VZWguru

I completely understand what you said about a company having to evaluate a change, like the 9PM-->7PM situation, and how it would affect many different areas of the company. If the ATT/Cingular attempt at super-glueing themselves together gains traction, I'd imagine VZW will put a 7PM option on the front burner.

If I can pick your brain...I'm a Cingular customer...save the booing and hissing till I'm done ;-)...and am not on any of their newer plans. I'm on a 2+ year old TDMA/analog Nation plan with a Nokia 5165. I've studied what your plans and current phones look like and just wonder if you guys are committed to continuing to offer at least some phones with analog capability for the near-term or are they planning to switch to all...

Next Gen VZW phones.

Well I've been waiting months for the V710 and I finally made it to the VZW store and was extremely dissapointed. For one, the keypad is made of that bubble, plastic fisher price material, and the send/end buttons are reversed from past Moto phones. Does anyone know the models of next generation VZW moto phones. I'm thinking about switching to ATT for the V620. Plus, the offer 7pm nights.

New VZW Customer?

I'm considering joining VZW, and trying to decide upon which plan, either the National or Local. I live in Central North Carolina and don't travel that often, maybe once in a blue moon to Miami. I probably do most my traveling within NC to the mtns or beach.
Would the local plan be enough? Or will I incur roamning charges.

Also, with local plan does that mean you can't dial anybody long distance?

As for phones, I think I'm going with the V710 😁

Circuit City

I was looking through the Sunday paper today and noticed an ad for Circuit city where they were offering most Verizon Wireless phones plus an accessory package free after rebate with a two year contract. (Most phones under $200 were free after rebate.)

I am a current VZW customer, I think I've mentioned on this board before that I'm looking to change my price plan and get a new phone in the next few weeks.

Among the phones they had listed for free after rebate were the V60s and the Audiovox 8600, both I am interested in. They included extra accessories such as a car charger, case and headset. While the purchase price of the phone and accessory kit were initially more expensive than buying direct from VZW with my NE2 after rebate they'd...

Call Blocking

When is VZW going to address the fact that we need to be able to block calls from certain numbers and/or "private" numbers?

With more and more people using cell phones as their primary or only phone we need to be able to have this option.

I personally miss the ability of my land line to be able to block blocked numbers.

Any VZW guys out there know if something is in the works and if there is, how far off is it from being implemented?

I seek a phone!

Ok, I did a search first, and KIND OF found an answer.
My question is, is there a phone out there that I could upload my own ringtones to (mp3 or other such NICE sounding audio) that is NOT a flip phone.

i looked at the LG V7000, and the new Motorola v710. i just dont really like flip phones, but the selection of Game Music tones on the Get It Now pages is painfully low.

I was hoping I could do it with the Slider (se47), but as far as I can tell, that won't be happening.

Handset Insurance Questions...

I'm up for my "new every two" $100 right now, but want to wait for some better phones to come out. My dilemma is...I have handset insurance on my phone and broke it today (it was stepped in half by someone a the store today on accident...it's a flip phone) and was wondering if they'll replace this phone and still allow me to get a new phone with the $100 later. Or, will they just make me use the $100 towards a replacment phone for this one.?

I just thought some of the Verizon Employees would be able to help me out here. If I go into the store they're going to make me doing something right then and there without giving me an options...I'm sure! Thanks for your help!
