The whole Cingular vs VZW thing...

Ok lets stop arguing about who has the better "network" or that GSM or CDMA is better than the other.

Fact. VZW is currently #1.
Fact. VZW has gotten a bit complacent

Fact. Cingular is currently #2
Fact. Cingular is working their arses off to take #1

Both sides have dropped calls. Both sides have unhappy customers.
VZW started with the best customer service. Cingular is working hard to take the position of best customer service.

Overall the only real difference I can see is that Cing's cust serv is not as good as VZW. And no that is not a slight on the CSR on Cing's side. I say that cause BOTH direct stores from Cing and VZW in my area suck arse. My dealership gives 200% better cust serv than the direct store here... Yet the V...

TREO 600 BEWARE!

Just bought a Treo 600 from VZW... first day surfing web (not using Express Network) ran up 2000 minutes on my bill... BEWARE... you must power off wireless phone after web surfing or picture emailing otherwise phone is always ON... is there a work around besides powering off wireless phone every time? BTW GREAT phone... but watch web surfing! Also, on Treo 600 you DON'T need mobile web option ($4.99 per month) it's already in the TREO phone! Any comments?

VZW and NE2 Troubles

Perhaps someone in this forum would know how I can resolve a problem I am having with Verizon. Allow me to provide a bit of history:
I have been a Verizon Customer since 12/2000 at that time I became a customer and had a shared family plan with two phones Both Nokias.

Approx 5/02 One of My Nokia's (Let us say Line #1) was stolen. I did not have the insurance on my account and purchased a LG VX10 as a replacement. Verizon extended my contract 2yrs.

in July of 2003 My wife decided she wanted to get rid of her Nokia and She purchased a Motorola T720. She quickly decided she did not like it and we had Verizon Switch Phones We put the VX10 on Line #2 (old phone) and Put the T720 on line #1 (New Phone. THIS IS WHERE MY PROBLEMS BEGIN. She t...

Hey DigitalPimp!

Still waiting for that conclusive third party proff of network superiority. I can stand on Telephia, which tells me that's NOT the case in many markets. Where's your outside drive tests to back up that claim? Still waiting...

What’s wrong with bells and whistles?

It seems to me that every time someone mentions wanting a better variety of phones to choose from they get bashed for wanting to “stand out in a crowd” and to have a phone with “all the bells and whistles”…so what? If every other carrier is offering phones that are pretty freaking amazing, why is it so wrong to expect the same type of selection from Verizon? How many times has someone posted that phones are “for talking” well TV’s are for watching, does that mean you are happy with your 20 inch black an white? No, you want your 60 inch plasma with tivo, surround sound and all the other “bells and whistles” you can possibly get.

E-mail access solutions?

I'm thinking about getting a PEG-UX50 and I'm looking for possible alternatives for connecting to my Web-based mail via Verizon. The UX50 has bluetooth/802.11/memory stick. Any ideas? I currently have a T720 and a VX6000, but might consider other phones if necessary.

Why the PEG-UX50? Well, on a recent camping trip I tried to access my mail via an MPx200, ouch! The screen is just too small and I need to wade through about 200 spam a day. After a few days, I wound up spending and hour and a half at a pay phone with my laptop going through the now 800 e-mails. Bottom line, I need a landscape screen to do e-mail reasonably well. I'd like to lose the laptop and the payphone, so the PEG-UX50 looks like a nice unit for reading and enteri...

Just thinking...

I'm not looking to start another debate over who is the best because quite frankly, I think its getting old. All I would like to say is that I am ASSUMING all of the debate that is going on is because we all REALLY think that Cingular may have a good "go" at #1. I'm not going to decide who I think will be tops anymore because I really have no clue. This merger may have been the best or even the worst thing that Cingular has ever done. Either way we all know that Verizon and Cingular will both have phenomenal coverage. I don't really believe that the amount of subscribers either company has will affect which company people choose. Why don't we stop attacking each other and just accept the fact that people will choose what company is best for ...

Is Sprint the next to Fall?

Just wanted to get some feedback on this from my peers...

Look at this trend

MCI: GONE
AT&T: GONE

Sprint is now the only long distance carrier remaining in the cellular game...could they fall as well?

i just don't get what all the fighting is over

Why is everyone constantly waging the "my company is better" battle? Where I live (no offense meant here) verizon service sucks but then so does sprint, t-mobile, and nextel the only service i have in my hometown is cingular and a bit of attws, where my parents live they only have cingular and a wee bit of verizon. So why doesn't everyone realize that all companys have good and bad and just be content in the fact that we all have jobs?

A phone is a phone is a phone...

I'm a gadget freak.

I own a cell phone. It makes calls everywhere I go. I use it for an alarm clock sometimes, but that's about it. I bought the data cable. I have a custom faceplate, a headset, a car and home charger.

I have a GameBoy Advance, a watch, a laptop, a desktop PC...

I'm getting an HP Palmtop just because they go for $50 on ebay...

Is VZW concerned?

That after announcing the v710 in January, waiting 8 moths to release it, that it could be the death of their 'extensive testing' line if its total ****?

New Contract ?

Here is my problem. My wife and I have two Samsung A310s. Both have had numerous problems, dropped calls, lock-ups, text messages that we never get and now both our batteries are not holding a charge as long as they used to. We have been under contract all most 2 years( Expires in October) with a family plan. We signed up through RadioSH#*. RadioSh#* has been no help at all and Verizon has checked our firmware version put problems listed above still happen. What is our options at this point. We desperately need new phones but can not afford to pay the regular 200$ plus price tag. We are more than willing to sign up for a new 2 year contract. What phones do you recommend. Do not need camera, but would like clam-shell design. One thing I do kn...

Dumb Question: What does ETF mean?

I've seen it referenced in several threads, is it some sort of self induced elimination? 😕 Thanks in advance for the answer.
