Upgrading to a smart plan?

About 2 months ago I got the env touch and renewed my contract with verizon. I love the phone but I'm very displeased with stupid data package, I didn't think it'd be that big of a deal because the booklet said 300 internet pages equals about 1 mb which is total bull. Well is there anyway I can upgrade to a smart plan without paying expensive fees?

thanks verizon,moto,google

For this great phone. I was just playing super mario 3 and it came to me how cool this is. And now I saw it was best phone of 2009 and am not surprised. With this device its hard to not be a fan boy. I can honestly say I have no wants left after using one for the last month, plus they have made me a mint at work they sell themselves. Keep up the good work guys. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Does anyone know if the droid has a radio application, similar to Iheart radio, where I can listen to actual local radio stations?

BB Storm Issue

My phone recently has been sending phone calls straight to voicemail and I haven't been recieiving emails, text messages, and bbm im's or they come like hours after some sent them (sometimes days). I have pulled the battery and everything multiple times still has that problem. My question is what can Verizon do for me? I don't have the insurance plan on the phone because my contract is up in July so I cancelled after first year because had no issues. If I moan and complain enough in store will they give me a replacement/new phone? It only started when they released the new OS and they put it on for me!

Phone Advice

Hey guys, im probably going for my upgrade with Verizon in May, but was wondering that my brother was thinking of getting AT&T because of the iPhone, but im not sure if i want to stay with verizon because i want to talk to my bro for free. Whats your advice on that?

Also so, i was gonna get the LG enVTouch for my phone but only problem is i need a easy access one-touch button to gmail and facebook, it was a toss up between the LG Chocolate Touch or the Samsung Rogue, but i hate getting smacked for that data package requirement thing, i know im already paying for the connect plan but i like to switch plans if i have to. So whats your pick on that?

Also i heard that people who are on unlimited data plans (i think it was a regular phone) ...

Refurb Phones

Okay since I dont want to pay $149 or whatever it is to upgrade my phone early I wanted to see if buying a refurb is possible? I went online to LetsTalk.com and ordered the Storm 2 for $50 and all this, turns out I cant upgrade on their site til I am elegible for my upgrade. Basically is it worth buying a refurb or just wait for til I can afford to upgrade?

INTERNATIONAL ROAMING QUESTION

Alright if I understand correctly Verizon uses Vodafone for international roaming and offers only 2 world phones.

So my question is say you’re going to Italy and you buy a prepaid SIM card from say this site
http://www.telestial.com/sim_bridge.php?ID=IT »
and you get the Vodafone one and stick it in one of Verizon’s ‘world’ phones will it work?
Or would you still get stuck with Verizon’s roaming charges?

multiple call forwarding?

Any way to have two (2) call forwards setup?

I want to use TrapCall service for number unblocking, but I want to also use Google Voice for my voicemail. Each requires the use of *71 call forwarding (no-answer call forward).

Call Forwarding to local US number while out of country

Hi,

I'd like to bring my Blackberry Tour to Costa Rica. There is no great International SIM there, so I am just keeping my Verizon connection for absolute emergency outbound situations. In the meantime, I want to forward all my voice calls to a US number (which I have currently done).

With call forwarding set across the board, will I be charged for roaming before the call is forwarded or will it simply route to the US number as a US-originated call? Answer could make a huge difference in what approach I use!

Thanks so much for your help!!

Alltel LG Glimmer Insurance claim

Question for Verizon reps out there...

So my girlfriend is a former Alltel customer and has an LG Glimmer. Recently the touch screen stopped working and she is unable to access most of the phones functions due to the menus mainly being touch screen accessible (no damage, out of warranty scenario). We took it to the local Verizon store to look at her options as far as if an insurance claim or an upgrade would be best. She decided to do an insurance claim as she was told an upgrade would pretty much require her to change her calling plan to a Verizon plan. (Actually, she was told she was going to lose her unlimited texting feature that she has had for years and that the only way to get the texting feature was with a Verizon calling plan.)

Blackberry-Droid Facebook Guru

So I had a Moto Droid, not long enough to use the FB app.
Another Droid is en-route. 😎
But now I've got a BB Tour and went through the FB app set up and now if anyone from FB calls me their caller ID comes up with their FB profile picture, I think it's kind of cool because it was pretty much automatic. 🙂

Will the Droid do that?

Oh man... I'm torn apart...

I love love love my BB Tour. I love having BBM and knowing almost all my friends do too...

but damnit, the Droid is the first touch screen phone I think is good. Not eligible for an upgrade, so pricing is keeping me from making the jump big time.

Just curious... any fellow crackberry addicts jump ship? How is the device?

The biggest thing that makes me want one is I heard battery life is much longer... I need confirmation of someone that used a Tour vs Droid in real life...

New Phone Advice

Ok I have been a looker on this site for some time. But now I need your advice. It is time for me to upgrade on Dec. 16 and I am not sure what phone to get. I currently have the Venus. It has been a good phone for the most part. I do not currently have internet or email on this phone but want to upgrade to the data package with new phone. I am thinking about getting the Droid but also like the HTC Eris. But now I am hearing about this other phone from HTC/Dragon but I guess there is no release date yet. I like to take my time and make sure I am getting the best phone for me.(since I will have it for two years) This will also be the last $100 credit I will get since they changed the upgrade credit. (Thanks to this forum I found this out) 🙂 I...

data plan confusion

I don't understand the difference in an unlimited data plan, and web and email data plan (besides the cost that is).

What is the difference? How shall I determine what fits my needs best?

Thx,

PCMagazine Vphone Article

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2355772,00.asp »

Here are some interesting items from the article...

"Saygus, a small Utah-based firm that specializes in video-calling software."

"Saygus has been working on their software for a dozen years, but never found a buyer, so they decided to strike out on their own and make the ultimate video phone."

"Video calling isn't the VPhone's only new trick. The phone will act as a Wi-Fi access point like Novatel's MiFi, connecting up to eight PCs to the Internet at one time."

"Using ODI makes the VPhone's path to market a bit weird. ODI devices don't use Verizon's stock service plans. Instead, Saygus wants to make deals with big-box retailers, who will offer their own service plans that ...

PC Mag Video

I'll say it again, if there were not pictures and videos of the Vphone, I would say the whole thing is a hoax. I listened to the video and found a few more details.

"Video calls can be made from handset to handset or to any voice over ip or video over ip enabled system."

"Unofficial pricing is $400 retail (unsubsidized)."

"Running at about a quarter of the bandwidth of a 3G video call as available in Europe and delivering higher resolution picture with a faster frame rate."

One thing that I've noticed is they never demonstrate the video messaging.
