Droid reviews vs. iphone reviews

I was looking at the 50 reviews so far for the Droid and noticed a pattern on phonescoop. When someone reviews a phone, they tend to write a quick paragraph about their impressions, then "The Pros", and "The Cons". This is consistent with the Droid reviews. However, when I checked the reviews for the iphone 3GS- I kept seeing only paragraphs of praise. No pros. No cons (There were a couple but nothing like the Droid reviews). This concerns me because it seems like people who like the iphone aquire tunnel vision. Will the Droid need this kind of blind alegiance if they are to impact iphone dominance?

I Would Like

...for Apple or VZW to make an official announcement that the two companies will NEVER develop an iphone (CDMA, LTE or any other technology) together. Everytime someone says that the Droid or the Storm 2 or whatever flavor of the month is a better device than the iPhone and Verizon doesn't need the iPhone, blah, blah, blah. I just want to scream, "Get Lowell on the phone and tell him to make the announcement then!" If they were only half as bold with such an announcement as they were in their response to AT&T's lawsuit we could end all the speculation RIGHT NOW. The next time someone interviewed Lowell he could just respond, "No. We are not pursuing an iPhone for our network. We don't want it, we don't need it and we will never have on...

New on the horizon?

I know about the moto droid, curve2, and htc dragon/passion on the way. I am bored to tears with my bb tour, and would be interested in a phone with similar functionality. What else is coming in the foreseeable future? The v-phone by saygus looks interesting, but I'm not sure of their product yet.

I've decided...

It would make more sense, under the current subsidy system in conjunction with the commission structures and priorities of the company, that Verizon should make all PDA / Smartphone / Advanced Devices retail at two-year contract pricing around $0 to $50, while all normal phones should be $50 or higher.

I would prefer if high end phones were all $0, while all normal non-smartphones were $100.

If you look at how phones are subsidized right now, normal phones are usually on the old subsidy system. Two year pricing is full retail minus $120. One year pricing is full retail minus $50. The difference between 2 and 1 year pricing is $70. This is why an LG VX8360 is $89.99 (before rebate), and the Casio Exilim is $329.99 (before rebate).

Anyone Else Willing to Say?

I think that the percentage of people that need data and voice at the same time is less than those that need international coverage...

Translation.... hardly anyone needs either

Anyone else feelin' me on this one?

VZW & MOTO disappointed with DRIOD

http://www.thestreet.com/_yahoo/story/10632177/1/mot ... »

The closely-watched debut of Motorola's flagship Google (GOOG Quote) Android phone is not yet three weeks along and already the $200 introductory price has been cut 25% and in some places 40%.
The discounts certainly fit the season Black Friday deals. But the speed of the move and the need to sweeten the price suggests that Verizon and Motorola aren't happy with the pace of Droid sales.

Early analyst tallies estimated that Motorola sold between 200,000 and 400,000 Droids in the first few days. Those numbers are uncomfortably similar to the less-than-dazzling start of Palm (PALM Quote) Pre sales this summer.

This is tr...

which verizon touch screen gets good RF reception and has a loud enough speaker in the earpiece cause some of these phones on the highest volume setting is too low. that's two important qualities in cell phones i look for other than features. if it doesnt get good rf reception and the earpiece volume is too low what good is the phone.

Just Moved & phone doesn't work...anyway out of contract?

Hey everybody!! Just moved from Florida to upstate NY...(I know everybody is going to say 'why would I do that'..believe me I have heard my share of it) Anyways....I have 5 phones on a family share plan. The phones do not work at my house which I knew was the case because nobody's does but I need my phone to work at my job and there is just no service. In your experiences, do you think there will be anyway that I can get out of my phone's contract without a fee? I would be willing to keep the other 4 with VZW since again...no phone will work at my house anyways. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Verizon Mobile TV ...no more phones offered

๐Ÿคจ Hey all a question about verizon's mobile tv phones...

My cheap motorola krave just broke and the salesperson at the verizon store said that they only have the new HTC PDA to offer for the xmas season.

Just wondering if anyone knows if verizon is dumping mobile tv....or what the new mobile tv phone is going to be.

Also, why Sprint has approx 10 phones that get mobile tv and Verizon offers one........

I can't afford the $130 + for a pda i will never use.

Appreciate your reply...
Thank you!

What do I gain?

I am a former Alltel customer who migrated over to Verizon earlier this year. I am using the Samsung Renown at the moment and it's fine for my purposes. I have 11 folks currently in my calling circle and I am still using the $60 plan of Alltel's w/900 minutes. I know that if I get a new phone and want it at the promo price, I'll have to take a similar Verizon plan, but that only allows me 5 in my calling circle. I may not really need the extra six numbers, since so many of the people I know have Verizon already. I just want to be sure that I'm not missing anything by staying with what I have. I don't think so, but maybe I've missed something in the process. Comments?

Well.....

I finally did it. I ordered the Blackberry Storm 2 from Verizon today. I decided upon this over the Droid or the Eris for the main reason that I am not too familiar with the Google OS and I like to have my email pushed to my cellphone which I know you can do with the Eris or Droid but just like how BB handle it.

I cannot wait to try this phone!!

Just bought a never-opened LG 8300 on eBay.

I've had some real frustrations with Verizon phones since my trusty LG VX8300 died sometime last year. First, I got the early-release version of the Casio Turd or or GzOne or whatever that horrific device was labeled. Sounded like I was talking through an inch of plastic wrap, and the battery was craptastic.

Next, I went with the Motorolla W755 and loathed that one, too. Lag whenever you pressed buttons, and right out of the box its battery life was worse than my old 8300's at two years. Got roped into buying the extended battery for the Verizon gouging price of $59.99 (panicked with a pregnant wife at the time). Then a month later ... accidentally ran over it with my car.

Not due for a NE2 til sometime late 2010, so I had my wife's ol...

Ashamed

๐Ÿคญ

I am a Verizon customer, but for the first time I find myself ashamed to be. This lawsuit against Sprint makes no sense to me. The campaign against AT&T I understand, but this action against Sprint is totally uncalled for. AT&T is kicking Verizon's ace (based on third quarter numbers) and the commercials Verizon is running are sensible. Sprint is just trying to stay on solid ground. They are not a threat. This lawsuit is an ambush that I hope backfires in Verizon's face. I hope the ruling handed down is that if Sprint cannot claim to be Most Dependable then Verizon cannot claim to be Most Reliable.
