Droid & Tethering... to clear it up

The Droid has the ABILITY to tether...the only reason it isnt offered right now is because Verizon hasnt finished creating the VZ Access Manager with the proper drivers for the Droid.... so its not a phone issue... The VZ Access Manager will be up and running end December/beginning January.

30 day return?

I had a Blackberry Tour and had to return it. Just terrible connection issues. They claimed it to be defective and I didn't have to pay any restocking fee.

Now, I am considering the Storm 2 or the Motorola Droid. IF I pick one of them and don't like it, would I still be able to exchange the phone within the 30 days or was that one time the only chance I get ?

Droid Question

I am a recovering Palm user with a Centro that has been suffering jet lag for a week now from a trip to Turkey. Of course it didn't work there but, after taking a week off, it apparently thinks it's time to retire.

I'm looking at the Motorola Droid and am confused about whether or not it will work when I travel internationally. Will I need to get a local SIM card to make it work? Soooo confused.

Blackberry Paperweight commercial woke me up...

Ok, so I've been with ATT for 5 years now, and over the years have become somewhat of a cell phone geek-always wanting the newest gadgets. This is one of the reasons I stayed with ATT because they always seemed to have the best new phones. For the past few years I've become a crackberry lover, of course, dishing out up to $400 for the newest and greatest. However, when I'm at work-8 hours a day, 5 days a week, my phone has been useless on ATT's network. Then came Verizon's paperweight commercial, and I realized that was me! And what was the point of me spending all this money on a phone with amazing possibilities if I could only use them at home or outside of work??
So I finally made the switch to Verizon, and spent the day marveli...

DROID: Initial thoughts

I got my Droid yesterday morning. On and off through the day, I was able to play with it until the battery died. This morning I've had a little more time with it.

So far, I'm pretty impressed.

I'm an avid Blackberry person, and have used Windows phones for about seven years. I've probably had about 20 smartphones (partially because I work in the industry), so I feel like I've seen some of the best and worst in the category.

Initially, I'm blown away by the touch screen. I don't have to crack the screen just trying to get something to work - the lightest touch will work fine. The screen transition is actually petty smooth, despite some of the reviews I've seen online. The sheer size of the screen is hard to beat.

I haven't r...

Confession

I want an Iphone. There I said it. The Blackberry Storm 2 is on the way and many are planning to upgrade to it. Some are planning to lie about the service/signal/taste of their existing phone in an attempt to bully tech support into GIVING them a Storm 2 (good luck with that). Me? I'm going to sulk in the corner with my Curve coveting the Iphone. I'll go to my cousin's house and play with his or his wife's Iphone or even their eight-year- old's Ipod Touch and dream of the day when Verizon will have its LTE network up and running and I will have an Iphone on Verizon. As long as I am dreaming I am sure winning the Powerball will be in there as well.

Why don't I just switch to AT&T? Did I mention that the 3G does not work inside my ...

Rant!

Went to a Corp. VZW store to play with the new BB Storm.
And the ONE they had on display was dead! 👿
And unlike every other phone, there was no charging cable.
You do want to sell some of these don't you?

Look what i found doing a wee bit of research!

Verizon was founded as Bell Atlantic Corporation by AT&T Corporation as one of seven Baby Bells that were formed due to an anti-trust judgement against them.
Now its your turn, prepare for the merger!!!!!

can I get any reps to give some advice

I have had enough of my Omnia, I have to get rid of 2 of these torture devices. I think my choices are limited but I would like advice from any reps that may have something constructive to say.
1. Buy 2 phones at retail, currently I believe the cheapest phone that does what I need is a blackberry min price $429.00. Total = $860.00
2. (Not sure if this is possible) Buy 2 BB phones at BOGO on 2 new lines $149.00, switch the phones to existing number pay ETF for 2 new lines $350.00. Total = $499.00
3. Pay prorated ETF $250.00 go to some other provider and get 2 phones ~ $400.00. Total = $650.00

Are there any other options? My contract is at one year next month but it’s a family plan so I believe only one line would be eligible for up...

LTE Apple Phone

Once Verizon brings its LTE network online, what if Apple were to design a totally different device? Does EVERY phone from Apple have to be an iphone?

wait a sec.........

👿

i wrote awhile ago about how a few weeks back i called customer service and asked full retail for the droid.....i just used my new every two in feb. so was ready to pay full retail....she suddenly starts offering me a one year contract price on the droid. saying it wouldn't cost me more than 290 for the droid.....now I'm reading about them upping etf fees on the 15th?

is this not them changing the terms of the contract i signed? i thought any changes to fees and contracts got you an automatic out of you contract.

maybe that's the reason she offered me a one year? i could be way off base....just want to hear your thoughts ?

New ETFs for data devices

Did anyone else read this? There is going to be a new ETF for Data devices. It will be $350.00 for people that start service with a data device or upgrade to one on or after 11/14/2009. It will take off $10.00 for the variable ETF. A little excessive I think, maybe $250.00 sounds about right.

Go Android! (More specifically, the Eris!)

Title. I feel that the price difference and the manufacturing quality of the Eris (provided a software update becomes available shortly) will overshadow all the hype that the Droid is generating. Can't wait to play with them both on Friday is all I have to say! This might mean bye bye iPhone and welcome back to VZW. (Unless my ETF is going to be $350.00)
