I am looking to switch from Alltel to either AT&T or Verizon. I am thinking of doing a 30 day AT&T trial from mid December through January. I will be traveling from NC through VA to West VA and into DC. Also out to Seattle and the adjoining area. I hope this would give me a good idea of how the network really is? Other than fees for calls, texts, etc., what do I have to pay for cancelling? I am thinking of a Tilt or an iPhone and a Curve or Pearl for my wife?

Also any input on coverage in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Asheville, NC areas? Please no Verizon trolls. I know your network is supposedly the best, but the phones don't impress me.

Hello AT&T reps. I live in the 75042 area and have a 3G phone. At my house I get no bars to 2 bars at times, but I can go about a mile down the street and get 5 bars. I was wonering if at&t will be puting up a tower in this area anytime soon. I have had no dropped calls at my house, but hust wondering. I have 2 lines of service & one of my lines reflects it is eligible for upgrade AFTER my contract end date, which is in February. This didnt seem right to me, based on my previous upgrade history with AT&T/Cingular/AT&T. I called in and a rep got authorization to do an upgrade for me because of the upgrade date not listing correctly. I told her I wanted a deal for a W580i w/ a 1gb card that is online. She said it wasnt guaranteed I would get that deal, but her manager would try to overide it. I was on hold for an hour & the manager was having issues, so I was told I would get a call back. Didnt happen. So I call today & I am told that i am SOL by a manager and that I wouldnt be allowed to upgrade until the end of March, after my contract is ...

How do you know when 3g is going to be available in your area?

For those who have the new Blackjack, what are the initial pros and cons? Thanks...

i just had a customer come into my store (sprint) and ask about our blackberrys. now she only wanted the data service which i told her that we could do and that voice (if used) is $.20 per minute without a voice package. she then told me to go ahead and active her because the at&t rep told her that he could not add only the data plan and that he would have to add the voice as well equaling around $80 per month total. my question is, is this the way you guys have to do this? or did the rep not know that he could? also do you guys get paid for the price plan as well as any other attachables? if so, i was thinking that was his motovation in adding the extra voice package.

Do you know where I could find one. I like the phone and I like AT&T, but I do not have a need for Cingular Video nor AT&T music.

Having searched both hofo and googling for reviews of 3g models, I want some honest opinions of 3g models available.

Preferences:

Flip
Gmail java capable
Good/Great battery life in 2g mode
LOUD earpiece
mp3 ringtone capable

No interest in a slide...its a backup phone to an unlocked phone to be purchased at a later date, you know, a phone to use when I go around town

was going to get an iphone. read on phonescoop about the 3g version in 2008. i don't know if i should get the iphone now or wait for the new one. if i wait, it probably won't come out until next fall with my luck, but if i get it, it will come out in february. what should i do? i was thinking about getting a shine to hold me over. is it a good phone?

I assume the Tilt is the best witht he 3 MP, autofocus, but what's the next best? Shine? iPhone? etc.? Is the Tilt the only one with autofocus?

I just switced to AT&T from Verizon. My phone drops calls like crazy and does not work well at all ... anywhere. What a horrible service. Is this how it is with AT&T? I have 5 phones including some 3G Models...whihc have better audio quality...but suffer from the same issues with respect to quality and reliability of servce.

I keep getting references to the BlackJack 2 has anyone heard or seen anything about that phone if it even is on the table or out thanks !! 🤤

I thought that the new Vz phones would actually be better than what they are. The Voyager turned out to be an over-hyped regular phone with sub par battery life and inconsistent touch screen.

I have a Nokia N75 and every now and then when I open the flip, it would ask: "Allow Sim Card to Send Message?". The left button is to "Send" and the right button is to "Cancel". So far I only "Cancel". What is that all about? Thank you so much for any help.

1. Can I use my 3g sim card in a non-3g phone????

2. Will an older 3g sim [1.8] work in the newer, faster 3g phones ?
